Preschool shows cleanup

You'd be surprised. PBS Kids as a network has a pretty large fandom. And some of their shows in particular (Ready Jet Go!, WordGirl, and Odd Squad, to name three) have very sizeable fandoms. I can't attest to other preschool networks and shows, though.

With this show, there's not really enough of a fandom for it to qualify for the Fandom Rivalry trope, at least from what I've witnessed.

from experience, PBS Kids attracts the most Periphery Demographics, but some other shows get them too. I am a Sesame Street fan. I have seen Bluey and Thomas the Tank Engine fans frequently. I have less frequently witnessed fans of The Wiggles and Barney. On the other hand, if say, for instance, there was a Ryan's World page somewhere on here and it talked like it had a fandom, I'd heavily doubt what it says because I don't think anyone over the age of 7 likes his videos.

Edit: Turns out that beyond my rhetorical question, Ryan ToysReview is a page, and I'm honestly not sure whether it is treating it like it has a Periphery Demographic or not, it's hard to tell. There are certainly more subpages than I expected.

I worry about this thread skewing into a "what adult would even care about preschool shows LOL" mentality, so we should focus on things like accuracy and misuse and try to not insult or condescend people for adding to these pages at all. I haven't seen much of it yet but I did see touches of it so just a reminder. In fact, we want people who are fans of these shows to be active in here so they can fact check.

Sizable fandom or not, the Fandom Rivalry entries are likely misuse because they're more about hating the show than the fans anyway, and should be cut.

That was not the intention of this thread—I can see it derailing in that manner but this was based on an idea from War Jay 77.

Actually one reason I created this thread was because preschool shows tend to, more often than not, have formatting/misuse/ZCE issues.

Oh no, I'm not accusing you or Jay of anybody! Preschool shows generate a lot of overanalysis so I appreciate the cleanup existing, I'm pretty sure I was around when it was being discussed. But the above "Who the hell cares?" video link felt rude, and I also wanted to clarify that these fandoms do exist.

I'm not even in any preschool show fandoms (besides I guess WordGirl, which is more for elementary school anyway, but I don't fuck with its fandom) but we should remember they can exist and not rule out any fandom-related tropes. It's just a matter of misuse and reading too into things.

Oh no you did nothing wrong! Like I said it was really just one comment, plus a slight derail(?) into whether these shows in general had fandoms at all. But for individual shows it's a fair question of whether fandom YMMV items apply.

Do not worry. You did not do anything wrong. Threads get minor derails all the time. You're perfectly fine.

Can I post stuff I found on Thomas & Friends here? Part of me thinks it deserves its own thread due to being a Long Runner and the many adult fans who edit the pages, but idk.

Sure, but if you feel it needs its own thread go right ahead and make it. Arthur has its own thread after all, and there was talk of giving Ready Jet Go! one as well.

Unrelated to complaining or examples but I just noticed the character descriptions on Characters.Bluey (for the Heelers at least) are copied almost word-for-word from the official site. Is that allowed? 'Cuz it feels like it would fall under Plagiarism.

Indeed it's plagiarism, the descriptions should be rewritten or removed.

There's a plagiarism cleanup thread for that, actually.

Somewhat related but while I edited my post to say this I wanted to boost it. I apologize if that Family Guy clip I posted came across as rude. That wasn't my intention, what I was really trying to say was "people care enough about these specific shows enough to have big fights about them??".

There's a really weird example on Recap.Bluey Seesaw:

• Stealth Pun: When Bandit sees that little Pom Pom is upset over her size getting in the way of interacting in other games, it's strongly implied he intends to help the pomeranian with her problem. He goes over to his daughters and intentionally disrupts their see-saw game with his heaviness, deliberately setting himself up as their antagonist. In other words, Bandit invoked Hate Sink.

I guess cuz he "sinks" into the ground? But I doubt that's intentional.

(Though there is a probably accidental joke in there about a Heeler being the heel.)

Another Bluey one, this time from Characters.Bluey, under Grandpa Bob:

• Abusive Dad: Downplayed; In 'Fairytale', he fails to get Bandit's name right, and shows No Sympathy over him being jinxed, even calling it a "good start" and saying he wishes he could make it so none of his kids could speak so they won't be so noisy.

That doesn't sound strong enough even for a downplay. It just sounds like teasing IMO.

Yeah, that's somewhat mean but doesn't seem like abuse.
