A wholesale move would also be my preference, but in the short term making a few redirects seems like a much simpler and more achievable task.

To move, you'd need to prove that the current name is problematic. To make a redirect you only need to show that it would help people to find the article. I think it makes sense to ask for those redirects.

In that case, is there a more formal process to get potential redirects approve and made, or can I just... well, make them?

Normal users can't create new pages in the Main namespace, but you can ask in the locked pages thread.

OC and OCs redirect to Original Character. We don't typically do initialism redirects; is there a reason to make an exception for these?

Original Characters is also a redirect, and we definitely don't do simple plural redirects. We'll dewick and cut that one when we get some free time.

It seems like cases where the abbreviation is so common, like NPC, could at least be grandfathered in, at least if they're longstanding? Just a thought.

TBH, I never understood why we don't allow initialism redirects. If they're common, they'd only end up improving searchability.

Because they can be confusing to those not in the know, but it depends on the acronym and context. For instance, LCD was PRLC'd because it stands for Lowest Common Dominator but it can also stand for Liquid Crystal Display, even though we don't have a page on the latter. Then again, we have RPG redirect to Role-Playing Game but no page on the Rocket-Propelled Grenade. Or they might be seen as lazy.

But it's a redirect, not the official title. It'd only matter to the people who actually know what it stands for. As long as we don't use it in wiki text, which for the most part we're not supposed to do anyway...

Fair point. Though RPG does have 600+ wicks.

OC has 56 wicks and OCs has 397, according to the related page. So they're getting inline use.

that latter use is probably because people link to OCs by accident due to it being an automatic wikiword without specific markup. RP Gs is PRLC'd, for what it's worth.

Sooo, should Elizabeth II be a redirect for HM The Queen? I knew Elizabeth II had a TV Tropes page here but it wasn't under her name and I got confused, tho that could be just me.

I am pretty sure that the current page name is Geographically Myopic.

And it will be outdated once... well, you know. She's getting up there in age.

(I saw her name brought up and feared for the worst.)

Been more than 3 days? And the Locked Pages thread has moved to a new cycle, so bringing this hear, since I'm not sure enough to make a redirect:

Hands On Hips as a redirect to Dynamic Akimbo? Or does it have to be Fists On Hips?

I think Diss Track should redirect to The Diss Track. Heck, I don't think the definite article was necessary in the first place.
