There's a difference between moving pages and cutting them.

How so?

There's a difference between duplicating pages and moving pages. Duplication was not an option.

Moving a page to a different namespace is not the same thing as getting rid of its content.

What do you mean "duplicating"?

Right, but we said cut the page, not the content.

The top option is to move the content to a dedicated thread in the forums (specifically into Writer's Block). That means we cut Sandbox.Fanfic Ideas so that we don't duplicate the content. Although, I think adding it to the Cut List was premature:

1. The crowner needs to be closed
2. The thread needs to be created
3. Then the pages can be cutlisted.

You can't "move" a page on TV Tropes as such — you can only paste the source to a different namespace (or forum post, as in this crowner) and cut the old page.

Mods do have a tool to actually move a page, when that's necessary and/or desirable.

Not-cutting was never on the table. Are the leading two options lose enough that we need a runoff crowner, or should we discuss the winner?

The forum thread option in the crowner doesn't really imply that the content would be moved to a thread but rather that a new thread would be opened to house new fanfic ideas.

I don't think all of the content needs to be saved. I think a better option for saving the content would be to use the Internet Archive. We don't need to store this information anywhere and it would clutter a single thread were it moved to one.

That's because I'm not familiar with Writer's Block but the suggestion was that Fanfic Ideas content would go there. So it's the "put it on forums" option, while the others are "put on another location of the wiki", "put on yet another location of the wiki", and "just cut".

Pinging Fanfic Ideas participants since the crowner may be called soon. Maybe a handful of absolute favorite ideas can go to the forum, not every single one.

I still find it a bit suspicious that "create Writer's Block thread" and "Move to Just for Fun" were neck-and-neck for the longest time until the latter got a rapid influx of downvotes.

Wow I forgot I was involved in this discussion. Yeah, a forum game sounds rad.

I think we can presume that either the thread reached a bunch of eyeballs who all disagreed upon the JFF move, or several users who upvoted thread and JFF were OK with either but ultimately decided they were more OK with thread.

If we open a forum for this, how would we sort the ideas?

In any case, "start a thread in Writer's Block" and "move to JFF" are not mutually exclusive options.

The first two options definitely are not neck and neck now.

It turns out that "Fanfic ideas you have." is already a thread that exists. A pretty old one, in fact.

Honestly, I'm with Crossover-Enthusiast: this sudden influx of downvotes feels a bit suspicious.

Closed the crowner. The current state of the crowner isn't really that different from where it was during early September; I suspect that there are a lot of people who disapprove of deletion but don't partake in Wiki Talk topics.

So... what are we doing with this?

We're not leaving it as-is, but what are we doing?

Since the forum thread isn't an option, I say we make another crowner.
