2. Both have met someone that has travelled to other worlds (Aether/Lumine in Hu Tao's case, and the other main KH characters in Merman Sora's case)

3. Both can use Playing with Fire abilities (Even when it doesn't since for Merman Sora to do that underwater)

Differences

1. Merman Sora can use other elemental spells. Hu Tao only has Fire-related abilities.

2. Hu Tao is completely human. Merman Sora is, well, a merman in this form.

3. Merman Sora is a Disney/Square Enix character. Hu Tao is owned by miHoYo.
