Would a fantasy world where mindless, destructive monsters roam the land be too cliché?

See, I've already got the general idea for the world setting - a thousand or so years after the end, where humanity is extinct and mythical creatures rule the land. But their progress to dominate the land and sea as man once did is barred by mindless monsters that seek to destroy them. And because of that, there are special warriors trained to fight them. Now, I've seen this done in dozens of other series, like RWBY, God Eater, Attack on titan and it's knock-offs, what have you. But my concern is, would this kind of world be too cliché'd by this point?

Not particularly, but you should take a unique spin on it.

The fact that you're using some kind of nonhumans as the protagonist race already sets it apart from those series... what sets the protagonists apart from humans? What advantages/disadvantages would this give them? Use whatever sets them apart from humans to make it different.

Hopefully I'll feel confident to change my avatar off this scumbag soon. Apologies to any scumbags I insulted.

There really aren't that many of this type around, certainly not enough for people to get sick of them IMO.

Try making them borderline otherworldly creatures, flat out invincible, humongous, and ancient, just like a herd of uncaring elephants stomping ants regularly, and there's no way the current civilisation of mythical creatures can permanently kill them, or at least understand them, as they would simply regenerate overtime, and they act like a force of nature that walks across lands after lands aimlessly to consume whatever they come across.

To add a twist for their true nature, I'd make them immortal creatures that were once known as "humans". After several millenniums of devolution, these humongous monsters don't even resemble humans anymore. They now look like a pile of rotten flesh mashed into unspeakable horrors that walk on all fours. The fact that the word "humans" was no longer used after at least 3000 years also makes these monsters even more mysterious and disturbing.

Just what makes these ancient creatures begin to rise again can leave some disturbing implications about the true nature of humanity. Were they driven by envy, or love, or want? Are they malicious? Or are they just plain tragic? And after becoming those humongous monstrosities, are they truly alive? Or amalgamations of rotten flesh turning into undead beasts through unnatural means?
