CN is allergic to actual action shows now, aren't they?
Wake me up at your own risk.Okay, are we going to complain about the show's cancellation or are we going to discuss the actual show?
Because if we're doing the former, I have a padlock right here in my hands.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt definitely looks interesting to me. Maybe it'll end up being a pleasant surprise?
Can totally get why the folks who wanted something like the 2011 series would be crapping their pants in sheer horror, though. It looks almost like it'll be Thundercats Go! at first glance.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"Agreed, can we hold off on the hot takes for a moment? It's the usual kneejerk reaction cycle that gets people liking/warming up to the show in the end anyway when it releases, eight times out of ten.
Animation-wise, Studio Yotta is doing their part in this series, which I find their fluid and style animation very exciting! They've done a couple of shorts for O.K. K.O, Rick and Morty, clean-up animation for Skullgirls, and even assisted some web animators like Egoraptor.

I at least hope the villains aren't one dimensional.

Wake me up at your own risk.I never saw the original or the 2011 show but I like what I see of this. I don't know why people are against it either, aide from nostalgia. It's like they didn't even pay attention to the announcement. The producer has outright said that the original was one of his inspirations to become an animator, that Thundercats Roar is meant to show praise for the original, and that as a fan of the original he's aiming to make a Thundercats show that he wants to watch and that he hopes other fans will enjoy it as well. It honestly sounds like a lot of love is being poured into the show so I don't see why people are getting upset without giving it a chance first.
Wow that was an awesome and heartwarming post. I loved this new thing because it looks mega cute but now I might actually give it a chance. But then again, I hated the original and the reboot.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Eh people don't want another comedy thing, simple as that.
Its not hard to understand people's problems, the last show was unfairly canceled, the lack of action shows in favor of comedy ones in recent times, some similarities to GO, etc, etc.
Besides talk is cheap, actions is where its at. Don't speak, show.
Also I got another look at the art & just gonna say its a miss here.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah like I said I have no attachment whatsoever to Thundercats and in a vacuum this looks like a perfectly fine show. I just have an issue with its art style being almost one to one with OK KO.
This song needs more love.x2
They outright said that they intend to have twice as much action as there is comedy so...
x3: It's understandable Slim, but I find kneejerk reactions a little too soon when all we have is an intro, a cast interview, and scattered thoughts from working staff members on Twitter. This project has barely breathed any life in the public at the moment.
Reminds me of recent Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (didn't this have a similar reaction last month?!) and DuckTales (2017) in this regard.
Also, I find the "lack of action cartoons" excuse getting tiresome. We have Dreamworks' Voltron (and the newly announced She-Ra), the CW animated mini-series (Vixen, The Ray, Constantine), Mondo Media's Last Man, and Young Justice is coming back for goodness sake! Most of these shows are on streaming services, viewers aren't restricted to cable networks anymore.

Well I'll keep their word for it but like I said, talk is cheap.
Better be some good fucking action though, not just still shots & shit.
Some actual animation, really make the animators work hard for their paychecks & artistic integrity
Well CN is still lacking in that regard at least as people are just easily pissed by CN really.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I couldn't place it at first, but I think the art style reminds me a lot of OK KO.
Simple artstyles can lend themselves to tons of badass action sequences, you know!

It's probably less expensive too. Shows have been cancelled for being too expensive after all.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Expecting any action from this show is probably a fools errand. Expect TT Go style comedy given the budget.
Also is there any reason Cheetara looks so ugly design wise?

Ugh, I'm getting old. This doesn't feel right to me at all.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. But it's important to realize that it not being our thing, doesn't mean it's bad.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"I would like to note that simple designs aren't inherent indicative of budget. Remember, detailed designs of the 80s can have their fair share of limited animation because trying to reproduce detailed designs on a strict schedule for a weekly show debuting the following year can be a pain. Throwing more money doesn't solve it (and can muddle the animation process with too many cooks or go overbudget).
Also, according to Victor Courtwright, it's supposed to be an action-comedy. In his words:
In fact, let me just post the interview:
Then they should have made an original IP. Worked fine for OK Go. I mean even if you aren’t a fan of the latter show, it’s an original property doing its own thing, so being mad at it is pointless and kind of dumb. No one asked to take this property and do it in this style.
This feels like a mishmash of all the worst trends of the New Tens in animation. Really, really simplistic designs where everyone looks purposefully ugly, minimal detail, wrapped in the veneer of an older, more serious property with all the baggage that implies.

Huh they are doing comedy take on Thundercats. Well after looking at it, I say the only problem I have with this show is the art style.
Yeah I get that its going for a sort of OK KO type feel with its animation, but I think this show would of worked better if it done in style of those super deformed anime spin offs that were popular during the 80s and 90s. One of the appeals for the previous two Thundercats series was their anime influenced art style that adhear to the time they were made, so it seems appropriate for this show to adhear to a specific anime style.
Other than that, I am pretty neutral on it.
One more criticism: they really missed on the perfect opportunity of calling it Thundercats Ho. I mean, everybody is already deeming it the new Teen Titans Go so might as well go with a similar name theme.
