See here for Nightmare Fuel, which has frequent enough problems to deserve a thread of its own.
A while ago, I made a thread for cleaning up Nightmare Fuel pages, since they tend to attract all sorts of gushing about anything vaguely unsettling, as well as violations of Example Indentation and the Spoiler Policy among other problems. Well, other Moments pages have similar issues, though to a slightly lesser extent, so they may as well have a cleanup thread too.
"Moments" reactions should:
- Be free of spoiler tags, in accordance with the Spoilers Off policy which states that:
Fridge, Headscratchers, and the various Moments subpages (Tear Jerker, Moment of Awesome, etc.) are for post-viewing discussions. Spoiler tagging there defeats the purpose of the articles. You shouldn't be going there if you are worried about them.
- Be based on things that actually have happened, not things that could happen, will happen, or might have happened. Speculation belongs only on the Wild Mass Guessing pages.
- Have affected the writer of the entry themselves. If you don't find something funny or sad, let someone who did add it to Funny Moments or Tear Jerker.
- Elicit a strong reaction. Not every single time a character accomplishes something is an Awesome Moment, not every attempt at comedy is a Funny Moment, not every time someone does something nice is a Heartwarming Moment, and not every unhappy event is a Tear Jerker.
- Explain why they're so awesome/funny/sad: Zero Context Examples aren't allowed on this wiki. Your description should allow anyone to understand your reaction.

Did they stutter? But seriously, no page is better than a page full of misuse.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I don't feel like digging into the vtuber Kayfabe thing at the moment, but it suffices to say that it's complicated.
Well, it's just that whoever will try to undertake that cleanup will end up with the same impasse as trying to get rid of fanmade remixes on all AwesomeMusic.Touhou Project subpages (which make up 95% of the subpages' content) without a contingency redirect to a Fanworks section; it's too colossal for any troper to do a unilateral move.

- Awesome Music: It's The Beatles — go figure.
- Specifically "Hey Bulldog" and "All Together Now": songs that had been relegated to the archive bin and otherwise wouldn't have seen the light of day. They're considered fan favorites.
- "Hey Bulldog" is awesome in a meta was as well for being what those present at the time of its conception refer to as the last time The Beatles were a complete band and not just four people with bloated egos.
- Specifically "Hey Bulldog" and "All Together Now": songs that had been relegated to the archive bin and otherwise wouldn't have seen the light of day. They're considered fan favorites.
What in the absolute hell is that third bullet? I get that "four people with bloated egos" is pretty much what the Fab Four turned into (I just watched the Get Back documentary fyi) but that kinda detracts from how awesome the entry is right?
Plus it’s a third bullet comment tree. I’m not even sure if the second bullet’s supposed to be there, sounds like just a trivia fact.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectNuke it lol.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.- The first bullet point is Natter.
- The second bullet point might be okay. It feels a bit low on context but I guess saying they're fan favorites could get across that they're good songs.
- The third point is 100% natter and possibly a ROCEJ violation.
- The second bullet point might be okay. It feels a bit low on context but I guess saying they're fan favorites could get across that they're good songs.
I'd just change it to:
- Awesome Music: "Hey Bulldog" and "All Together Now" had been relegated to the archive bin and otherwise wouldn't have seen the light of day, but are now considered fan-favorites.
Possibly adding something like "because of [insert reasons here]" to the end.
Eh, that's basically a ZCE though. Awesome Music has this problem a lot but it should explain why they're awesome.
Re: Social Media: I think we should probably dive in and see if there's anything worth saving. If not, burn.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI think its fairly easy to explain the awesomeness of "Hey Bulldog" so deleting the bullet points and natter shouldn’t be too hard.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectFrom TearJerker.Robot Chicken:
- A fake follow-up to Attack of the Clones shows Boba Fett utterly failing to move on from Jango Fett's death. As aired, the sketch begins with Boba playing catch with "Dad", but after he throws the ball, the camera pans to Jango's empty helmet and mitt lying on the ground. In the deleted scenes, it's revealed they crossed the line twice by cutting to Mace Windu happily eating ice cream.
Does the part about the deleted scene really deserve to stay? When I watched it on the DVD, it seemed like something that got cut because the joke didn't land, but I don't know for sure if the writers also thought such.
It feels unneeded to me too, so I think it can be cut.
Permission to revert Laconic.Tear Jerker? The previous said it applies to moments that make you cry, but the current just suggests it involves sad and depressing things with no mention of crying.
I'm not sure any of the recent changes to that laconic are great. How about...

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I'm cool with either of your suggestions, though I'm leaning on your second one.
I brought this up in the ROCEJ a while ago but I think it might be better to bring it up here, but there are a ton of pages listed in the Website namespace that have moment tropes that trope the real life users. Considering that the 4chan, Youtube and Twitter ones got PRLC and locked because of that, should these pages be cut and locked for the same reason?
Here are the sites that have moment pages:
- Website/Facebook (Awesome)
- DeviantArt (Awesome, Nightmare Fuel)
- Nico Nico Douga (Awesome)
- Something Awful (Awesome)
- Website/Tumblr (Funny, Heartwarming, Tear Jerker)
- Website/Reddit (Awesome, Funny, Heartwarming)
- Website/Ponychan (Funny, Heartwarming)
I'd cut them on principle since none of these websites are much different. Troping and giving moments to userbases shouldn't be done.
The pessimist sees a dark tunnel, the optimist sees a light, the realist sees two lights and the engineer sees three idiots.Question. Is there a level of gushing that is considered excessive even for the Awesome/Funny/Heartwarming pages? I know the Sugar Wiki is less strict on that but I am assuming they have limits too.
I see the moments pages have been cut, but I recall at least one valid example on TearJerker.Tumblr, so I think I'll look through the former page contents for any salvageable examples. Starting with TearJerker.Tumblr:
- For April Fools Day 2015, Tumblr's joke involved using Tumblr to create business opportunities. Accompanying your dashboard for the day was a little copy machine named Coppy, a parody of Clippy The Paperclip of old-time Microsoft Office notoriety. Like Clippy, Coppy gave mostly unhelpful advice, along with a few bizarre remarks. As the day went on, he started to break down, and he completely disappeared come midnight. While he was annoying to many, as was intended, many Tumblr users ended up loving him, and ended up wanting him to stay. Rest in peace, sweet copy machine.
- valid
- The Tumblr website and app can make some pretty depressing comments during errors.
Something went wrong. I really tried. I'd like to try again.
- valid, I guess
- Iphigenia, goddess of war. note
I am the goddess of bloodshed, of sacrifice, of the slaughter of innocents. I am invoked when men ravage, burn and pillage. I am invoked when mothers cry out, when sons die, when daughters are stolen. I hear it all, general. I have heard it all since the fall of Troy.
How dare you call upon my name?- tropable work. can be moved to TearJerker.Web Original
- The God of Arepo, while ending happily, is utterly heartwrenching in its first part.
And as the fields burned and the smoke blotted out the sun, as men were trodden in the press and bloody War raged on, as the heavens let loose their wrath upon the earth, Arepo the sower lay down in his humble temple, his head sheltered by the stones, and returned home to his god.
- work with its own page. can be moved to TearJerker. The God Of Arepo
- Have you heard the tale of the queen of thieves?
- tropable work. can be moved to TearJerker.Webcomics
- Doubling as heartwarming: In March of 2022, a user opined on the then recent influx of porn bots mass following people and it was reblogged by Tumblr's resident "Haiku Bot" (a bot that converts posts to haikus). The original poster proceeded to (possibly jokingly) ask Haiku Bot's opinions on the matter, questioning why it is loved while the porn bots are shunned. Haiku Bot's response was not what anyone was expecting.
Haiku Bot: My voice repeats what
you all say: I love you I
love you I love you.- can be moved to Heartwarming.Real Life Other. ooor maybe Heartwarming.Web Original, since it's an "in-character" bit. leaning toward the latter

Those ones that you say to move though are ZCE, they don't state why they are sad in the first place. Also the valid ones I don't think would be troped, since even though it's the website itself, I seem to remember similar entries being removed from other similar website pages (ie Youtube's funny section detailed some stuff done by Youtube itself (in addition to user content), but it was still locked and cut)
Edited by BocchiTheRock on Aug 19th 2023 at 11:05:19 AM
ZCE policy is to comment them out, not delete them. If a page consisted of nothing but zces then it could be cut, but that's not the case here.
Maybe those entries got overlooked, or cut in error. Hard to say more without knowing specifics. But the above looks like a pretty cut-and-dry case of a valid example of a fictional work to me. Over-hasty cleanup in the past isn't a reason for over-hasty cleanup in the present.
We can remove a ZCE if we know it's definitely misuse, but otherwise comment them out if they are valid, but just need more context.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. We can also remove ZCE during TRS cleanup, but yeah that doesn't apply here either.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAny issue with the above proposed moves/restorals?
Someone a few weeks ago started up an Awesome Moments page for Roger Ebert, and the sole entry is about him backpedaling on his controversial "video games are not art" statement. I can understand his Funny Moments page considering it's mostly based on his print reviews and editorial media, but this reads way too close to just documenting real life/meta reactions. Cut?
Thanks for playing King's Quest V!Cut.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.
Err— that implies we'd have to cut nearly every page because they're stream highlights.
