Maybe I misread, but I thought everyone in the 4th/5th wave were mentioning Etmes. If not, I can make it an unnamed entity, or just say Heaven DIO did it.

@Def Revenge:

  • People in the most recent wave (the fifth one) have been hearing a weird message, but it wasn't Etmes that brought them there. Just say it was a random portal and that's fine!

Here's the roleplay thread. We'll be moving at a slower pace, so if you're interested in joining, don't feel like you need to sign up as quickly as possible.

Got distracted. Anyways here is a sign up for Yusuke from Persona 5. Oh, is Takemi on the table as an allowable second character. I guess we have some potion making npcs that may fill the same role as her, but if Strat is cool with having a normal doctor on the roster, I would still be up for bringing her in.

Baring that, for a second I may actually try for that Red Napalm/Cassidy child idea. While initially just one of those quick ideas like "I should totally have Lucio and Miho have a child so I can play a beat listening rollerblading ninja!", being able to bring in influences from both Fallout and Let It Die on how to survive after the end seems appropriate for the rp. Add a little entrepreneurship like reopening the Spittoon bar on Balder and having a gun customization workshop do business out the back, you have something of a character.

Name: Yusuke Kitagawa

Appearance: Yusuke age 16, the Fox of the Phantom Thieves, and Goemon. Its been five years since coming to Balder, and for the most part he looks the same, a lanky pretty boy with a far off gaze. He has to taken to wearing a yukata as his street clothes, in part for the simplicity of its make and maintenance, in part because Balder hardly has the Tokyo fashion scene he is used to (and in part to reinforce a ronin-esque role). The appearance of the Fox and Goemon has remained the same, and he can transform into his Fox attire at any time. (May have him have a Japanese tatoo also. Reinforce the idea of art and strength as one as well as hint that while very much the same person, he is also changed from living on Balder. On the other hand, tattoos are linked to the Yakuza in Japanese culture, probably making it unappealing to him. On the other other hand we got an aspiring tatoo artist.)

Personality: Yusuke is something of an eccentric artist. He has an almost singular focus on art that seems to occupy his mind at all time. It can seem as if he head is in the clouds since he is always looking for artistic inspiration. Whether out in public or in the middle of combat, Yusuke can be found framing the world around him with his fingers. This out look can have him sometimes speak in flowery prose.

  • Its is very easy for him to miss or outright forget social cues and cultural norms others take for granted. The type that should a woman ask him if her butt looked big in a dress, he would take a long scrutinizing unabashed look, then should he come to the conclusion, answer honestly "Yes" and be absolutely dumb founded what made her angry. He can come off blunt or haughty at times, but is good natured with a strong sense of justice. Unlike some other Phantom Thieves, Yusuke is cautious and is much more likely to consider the ramifications of his actions and think before taking action. Despite being something of a ronin on Balder, he is actually quite a loyal person. The friends he left five years ago are never far from his thoughts.

Powers and Abilities: Yusuke is a member of the phantom thieves and a persona user. The short version, Yusuke is an agile swordsman with ice powers that can project the image of the famous thief Goemon. Long version...

Thief Agility: Mobility is important for any thief seeking to infiltrate a palace. Like a ninja, he is able to quickly dash from one shadow to the next to avoid detection. He is also able to leap and climb structures to take the paths not taken in order to avoid patrols and secure that infiltration route. (He also can do something of a flash step. While it won't show up in combat or the like, I did want to mention it to be able to make an already secured victory more spectacular)

Swordsmanship: Of the Phantom thieves, Yusuke is the best at melee combat (Highest Str stat, with the exception of maybe Joker with the right persona). Wielding a single katana, he uses a peculiar style. A skilled practitioner of Iaijutsu, Yusuke keeps his sword sheathed in combat, quickly drawing to attack or defend before returning to the sheath. Rather than try to out perform an opponent, Yusuke is a more intellectual fighter and instead will exploit weaknesses and openings an opponents defense (very much to in an attempt to imitate the games tactics).

Marksmanship: While his sword is his go to weapon, Yusuke is quite skilled with use of an assault rifle, being able to fire in accurate controlled bursts. At the start of the RP, he will probably have long ran out of the ammo for the gun he brought over and abandoned it. As a one time joke, while skilled with its use, he might not actually know how to reload. Both can be rectified over the course of the RP.

Persona: Perhaps his most defining trait is his ability to summon forth a persona (admittedly not that tall, probably closer to ten feet). A sort of cognitive projection given form, usually in the appearance of some mythical creature or character, in this case the thief Goemon.

  • Their primary purpose, besides setting a character's stats, is to cast spells on behalf the character. Goemon is an ice based persona that focuses on both physical and freezing based attacks. To set a standard on how the ice attacks work in the rp, ice chunks will form floating in the air around Goemon with each cast which he will then launch toward his opponent (allowing them to see and react). He can either focus the attack into a single strong attack (Bufudyne) or split it into smaller pieces for a weaker but more aoe attack (Mabufala). The ice chunks have no kinetic damage to them, instead flash freezing what they come in contact with (while never coming up in the game, I would appreciate it if Yusuke can create frozen surfaces. While adding some combat options, I want to recreate the ice skating down the street of the intro, haha). While physically capable, Yusuke/Goemon isn't the most magically inclined. As a result his ice powers are used mostly to supplement his swordsmanship rather then be his primary source of damage. I'd also appreciate it if he was capable of harmless freezing. Keep a guy incapacitated just to have him thaw out completely fine a few minutes later, or if he wants to actually hurt the guy follow up the vulnerable frozen state with a physical attack (Technical!).

  • While Yusuke powered by Goemon will be performing the brunt of the physical combat, Goemon is capable of delivering physical attacks as well, using his little pipe axe. In particular, Goemon can assist in dealing with aoe physical attacks such as stomping the ground to send out a little shock wave (Mind Slash (Admittedly I want to throw this in to have an excuse to have Goemon do that stomp kabuki pose)).

  • The use of a persona is trying on both the mind and body. Yusuke has to be considerate of how he uses his persona lest he simply tire himself out. As an ice based persona, Yusuke is resistant to other ice based attacks. On the other hand, he is weak to fire (to elaborate for the rp since being set of fire tends to be a common weakness of human being, Yusuke is particular susceptible heat exhaustion and may find it difficult to concentrate in extreme temperatures. On top of that burns have him particularly recoiling in pain, leaving him open for a follow up attack).

  • Personas are native to the metaverse, a sort of parallel world formed through the cognition of humans. How he is able to summon forth his persona here can be hand waved as being taken from Metaverse and thus still being subject to some of its rules. The phantom thieves look down on killing and have been able to avoid it thanks to the meta verse. (It could be kinda cool to have attacks hit straight to a person's distorted desires via some metaverse distortion, leaving them physically unharmed when defeated. Leading to situations where after the finishing blow a opponent, rather then squirting blood and dying, drops to their knees and begin crying for forgiveness and seeking to change their ways. I suppose having him work on a completely separate rules of combat may be a bit weird, and he will just have to figure out how to change people hearts the old fashioned way.) It is possible for Yusuke to evolve his persona into a new stronger form. In terms of gameplay in the RP it probably won't have much of an effect other then some vague he is stronger now. Even then, it would be a plot point that would of course require gm permission. Figure I would just mention it now in case we do decide to go that route down the line.

Persona Skill List: (admittedly probably gibberish. Everything has already been covered above, I just want to add this as a way of trying to keep Yusuke's Rp's abilities mirroring his games abilities as much I can.) 1. Bufu 2. Bufudyne 3. Mabufala 4. Deadly Fury 5. Myriad Slashes 6. Mind Slice 7. High counter 8. Speed Master

Dancing Star Night: Knows how to bust a move. Go ahead and challenge him to a dance battle.

Personal Timeline: Where Yusuke came from, there is something of an urban legend about a group known as the Phantom Thieves. A modern group of vigilantes performing heroic acts in the same vein as figures like Robin Hood. Perhaps most peculiar is the fact that what they steal is neither treasure nor money, but evil hearts. They take distorted desires from evil people, and in doing so cause a change of heart, leaving a renewed person who seeks to repent for their crimes. No one know how they do it, how many there are, or their identities. Perhaps that is why very few realize that five years ago, one of their members went missing.

  • Even by the Metaverse standards, Momentos is a strange place. An ever changing twisting labyrinth that seems to continue forever. Dark comers, voices in the shadows, tracks that lead nowhere, and large furious portals were the norm there. It was perhaps for that reason the Fox did not think anything of entering the portal before him until it was too late.

  • He arrived in Balder at AM 30. It was like a bad dream. But even here, on a dead god's back in the middle of multiverse, Yusuke had a single thing on his mind, art. After coming to terms with his new circumstances it did not take long for him to continue seeking to improve his craft. While ready and willing to provide his unique gifts in the service of others when applicable, Yusuke had primarily chosen the life of a vagrant starving artist.

  • (During this time it is possible with his help that the city saw a surge in the number of dyes, paints, inks, and even cosmetics. While many who brave the Naked Wilds would seek to improve survive ability, someone like Yusuke would have an eye for fauna and flora that could be used for such.)

  • Perhaps he felt that such dreary walls called to him like a canvas for a brush, or perhaps because using someone else wall was cheaper then trying to acquire paper on in this dead god's back, what ever the case Yusuke had taken to doing street art. The subject and reason for a particular piece varied from each creation. Everything from simple aesthetics, to trying to represent abstract concepts, to commissions, to very personal projects, to public commentary. He does all of it for a love of the art. True, he would like to make a living from his craft, but Balder isn't quite at the stage to support artists, especially eccentric ones like himself, and he has no intention of changing.

  • The class divide and other rising social problems has not escaped his notice and seeks to alleviate them in his own way. Perhaps because of his Phantom Thief roots, or perhaps because he has always marched to the beat of his own drum, Yusuke does not work in conjunction with the Fusiliers but acts on his own accord like a vigilante of sorts.

Relationships: Just a few rough ideas, we can settle and discuss each later

Jengbish and Pre Vizsla: Probably never met the guy, but probably a source of why he feels it is necessary to keep and eye on the budding government with these military hard on types wielding so much power. (Pending)

Asriel: Perhaps commissioned to paint some murals for the orphanage, alternately he may paint little doodles with out permission for kids to find like Easter eggs. May come over to get some decent tea here on Balder (Pending)

Yorigami: May have an interest in them as Japanese goddesses, having met a few himself (or cognitive versions at least). May occasionally visit them and politely ask them to stop make him poor, whether its their fault or not (Pending)

The Murdock family: Why you no appreciate my paintings?

Kiryurin family: I feel like Satsuki and Yusuke can create a nice contrast to the other. Old generation vs new, authority vs rebel, hyper focus on goal vs constantly distracted with art. If you want, during their first meeting one approached the other with the intention of maybe joining the Fusiliers, but such discussion was cut short when Yusuke nearly instantly asked if she was willing to pose nude. His reasoning being something that her eyebrows and stern expression give off such confidence and charisma. Placing her in such a vulnerable state would merely highlight that strong expression ever more through contrast. By painting that he would be able to capture the image of indomitable will and pride. He probably only got as far as "I heard a rumor that a woman's eyebrows share the same thickness as their...well, if true that may help create a balance in the composition..." The daughter could possibly either realize that Yusuke isn't a bad guy, just kinda off, and try to mediate between the two or go the other way and be even more outrage then her mother and have it out for the artist. (Pending)

Okuyasu: I feel there should be at least one stand vs persona battle while Okuyasu and Yusuke have a pose off. I can kind of see them being kinda buddies, both being sorta delinquents and each having a kind of "You know, you kinda remind me of someone I know". If they are, Yusuke probably considers Okuyasu as something of a sell out for joining the Long Knives, but still good friends other wise. Well, as good a friends as he was with Ryuji anyway. (pending)

Link: "You can make dyes? Fantastic! Also, you aren't going to eat all that food you have bouncing in the cooking pot are you? I'm partial to hot pot my self."

Anansi Kuroda: They can be art buddies! I feel like in their initial meeting, Yusuke would insult her face tatoo, saying the black widow draws too much attention and throws off the composition of her face. This leads to arguing, which leads to debate, which leads to discussion, which leads to art buddies. (Pending)

I was looking over Okuyasu's profile for mistakes, and the idea of a giant space marine, a living weapon, and a high-school semi-delinquent with a Stand walking in a city on a dead god's back amuses me for some reason.

Sorry about forgetting this - I was busy dealing with some work stuff - had to work a bit to get enough money for some necessities.

  • Name: Hans Schultz
  • Appearance: At about 50, Hans has basically grown into the quintessential Hot Dad - even though his hair is slightly grayed on the sides, he is still in tremendously good shape, and if anything has only grown through age. His hair is trimmed slightly short, and his icy blue eyes speak of experience. There are some scars on his body, both from the battles he engaged in, and from having his regrettable tattoos from his youth removed. Hans mostly wears a tight black sleeveless shirt, a grey and blue jacket over that, jeans, and boots. Even at 50, he has minimal wrinkles on his face, a very handsome face, and a distinguished look.
  • Personality: Despite having a rocky history and a battle filled past now, Hans is one of the more idealistic members of the initial wave of fighters - if anything the experience has lent a pronounced anti-theistic edge to him. Hans greatly misses his homeworld, feeling that he is failing in not returning there and helping anyone who needs it. He is an utmost Combat Pragmatist, prioritizing ending any fight quickly and with no nonsense so that he can continue doing what needs to be done. He is a single father now, feeding further into the above - he feels he needs to defend his kids and keep them safe. He is however a very lonely man, and takes on proteges in order to allay that feeling. Notably, however, while he has overcome initial compunctions about using his powers, he is very wary about tremendous, powerful displays and other such things - something that happened in the war producing both regrets and stress on him about that.
  • Powers and Abilities: Mastered Vector Control - with the amount of time since Dawn of a New Age's time, he's mastered his power. However, due to an incident in the past, he's entirely uncomfortable using it in large displays or attacks, preferring to use it more in close quarters.
    • Weapons Handling: Is very capable with weapons, owing to his time fighting the deity here.
  • Personal Timeline: Hans Schultz was one of the first to enter the war, at AM 0, and reacted very badly to the realization he was not going to be sent home after the battle with Balder. He essentially mostly withdrew from most of the other empowered individuals with few exceptions, namely, his now ex-wife, who he came to forge a relationship with during the stay within Balder's internal tunnels after saving her life. Six months after, Hans and his now girlfriend managed to find their way to a new home - clearing the way for a safe spot. Throughout, Hans ended up viewed as a powerful but quiet figure. When the animal attack happened, Hans joined the Fusiliers, fighting again and trying to keep his new home safe - however, around five years later he withdrew from the organization over some unknown incident. Hans would later on push for the creation of a second wall - in his opinion, the Naked Wilds was proving hostile and might well be an extension of Balder's hostile consciousness. At AM 20, Hans' first son Warren is born, and is discovered to have abilities. Hans however is not interested in having Warren become a Fusilier, and if anything at this point withdrew significantly from the greater society in the growing city. There was an incident where someone pushed for him to try and run for some government office in AM 25, but he resisted this vigorously. Starting in AM 30, Hans was rather suspicious of some of the activities going on related to the more affluent citizens, and while due to his past he is unwilling to stage a confrontation, he did try and put out some notice about past observations of what the rich "could be capable of, when divorced enough from outer society." Hans feels he needs, in AM 35 to possibly end his isolation and get involved again, especially owing to the fact that a new Portal Storm may well be occurring, and his own distrust of the affluent individuals involved. He is especially hurt by what happened in AM 33, wherein his wife suddenly just left, and he heard she got involved with a younger man.
  • Relationships:
    • Warren Schultz: His 15 year old son - Warren is the oldest and the most lighthearted. While he looks like every bit the blond Jerk Jock, he's a lot nicer than he looks. He is also a pronounced Kidanova / Casanova Wannabe. He has slight libertarian tendencies. His powers let him take on a slightly weaker version of whatever power those around him have, though he can only take on five at a time.
    • Owen Schultz: His 13 year old son - Owen is despite looking angel faced and somewhat doofy (though this is mostly his mop-like haircut) he is the more serious of the brothers, though prone to The Comically Serious. Owen has a somewhat suspicious nature, mostly due to what happened with mom, and is slow to trust. His powers are projection of light - including weak beams, bursts of light, and Hard Light weapons, and a pair of angelic wings on his back.

@Def Revenge:

@Immortal Neet:

  • Yusuke is accepted.
  • He probably knows Loki, who is also a painter. Loki might have sent a portrait of Yusuke to himself as a gift... except this was before the two of them ever met. When the two did end up meeting, Loki probably told him "I saw you in a dream in such vivid detail, I had to paint you". He's more of a realist, when it comes to the art style.
  • Feel free to join the conversation at the discussion thread or our Discord.

@Nickthe Swing:

  • Wouldn't mastered vector control basically make Hans one of the more powerful characters in the game? He's already pretty powerful in Oldport. Please specify just how powerful he is.
  • I think you're adding too many NP Cs for just one player character. I would rather you cut it down to two, maybe just the two kids, and leave Hans' ex-wife and her new husband to someone else or just write them off as being off-world. With that being said:
    • I like the idea of someone who can copy people's powers, but at a weaker version. However, five is far too much.
    • Can you tell me more about Owen's powers? Projecting powerful light could be a shorthand for, well, anything.
    • Emma is a no-go, sorry.
  • Also, I feel like you should brush through the timeline to get a feel for what else Hans would be doing during these past thirty five years. And maybe just go through the character list and see what possible interesting relationships you could come up with? Just seems to me like you're having him be sectioned off into his own little world.

Made some edits to Hans - I decided to roll with him kind of trying to be isolated - he doesn't have many relationships outside his two sons.

(Let me know if I need to fix anything.)

  • Name:’Riggs’

  • Appearance:
    • With the exception of being completely bald, Riggs is completely identical to the rest of his kind.
    • As for his armor, here it is:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LLyYuzGeTUAkH9vHEgWDiXkAUe2YQOtrIp6gN91QtdY/edit?usp=drivesdk
  • Personality:
    • One thing Riggs is known for is being a ‘shoot first ask questions later’ type.
    • Also known for having a crude sense of humor.
    • Also, he craves action. Anytime not spent blowing stuff up Is time wasted. At least in his eyes.
    • He's also attached to his armor, barely ever seen without his helmet.
    • Riggs is also known for being a ruthless and determined fighter. Once he sets his mind to something, he ain’t gonna quit till he’s won, or he’s dead.

  • Equipment:
    • Z6 Rotary cannon- Mix between a mini-gun and a Blaster rifle. Is there not better way to smite your enemies?
    • DC-17A Blaster-Basically a standard blaster for the GAR. An effective little thing, but he only uses it when his Z6 is out of order.

  • Personal Timeline:

    • CT-6577, when he was born, was like any other clone. Breed to serve, and die, for the Republic. During training, he had a thing for heavy weapons, which ended got him assigned as a heavy weapons specialist, assigned with the 345th Shock Battalion. Soon after, he received his baptism by fire at Ryloth, during the Republic’s liberation of the planet. 6577-by this point known as Riggs-engaged the Sepps in the Northern Hemisphere. By the time the 345th linked up with other GAR units, they had lost 135 men to the clankers.

    • By that point, the fighting was dying down, with General Windu’s forces securing the capital, all the 345th had to do was mop up so CIS holdouts, and the battle was over.

    • Riggs and the boys of the 345th had little time to rest. The 345th was soon deployed to Yavin, to deal with a Separatists incursion. Riggs was credited with mowing down 54 clankers that day, including 12 supers. All and all, the fight for Yavin was a curb stomp.

    • A while later, the Venator they were stationed aboard was ambushed by a Separatist fleet and boarded. Riggs and the crew fought tooth and nail for the star-ship, but the odds were stacked against them. Last thing Riggs remembers was holding back a group of clankers in the hanger bay.

    • Next thing he knows, he’s waking up in a field. In front of were...well some folk that dress like soldiers, but they sure aren't GAR. Riggs jumped to the conclusion that they were Separatist insurgents, and went to work.

    • He only got off a few shots from his Z6 before he was tackled by some of the grunts who snuck behind him. Yeah.

    • The ‘insurgents’ he attacked turned out to some of the Fulsiers who were tasked with watching the outskirts of the City of Balder. When their officer explained where he was and how he might have gotten there back at their camp-he didn't take it too well. It took 5 men to restrain the clone.

    • After two days, Riggs was sent to a shelter for others in the ‘5th Wave’, like himself. This was around the first month of 35 AM, in case you're wondering. For 5 days, Riggs was stuck there, before the same officer from before came up to him with an offer...join up with the Fullsiers, or remain at the shelter. Three guesses which on he choose.

    • A week later, he officially part of the Fullsiers and was part of the defence of the City outskirts.

  • Relationships:
    • Attached to the soldiers he serves beside, as expected from a soldier.

  • I can't help but feel that the nerf you applied, whilst valid, is still not enough. Hans can do a lot in DONA, and you're basically telling me he can do even more of that, so I'm naturally worried.
  • Also, I get that you want him to be isolated and all, but you can't tell me he doesn't have any relationships with some of the other original warriors, right? That just doesn't fly with me.

I'm still thinking whether I should pick the character I'm thinking of, but until I do, I'll just leave a few questions:

What is your policy regarding spoilers? The character I'm thinking about using would spoil stuff from the end game just by existing (I'm thinking of Loewe from Trails in the Sky, but I haven't decided yet). I can try to tone it down, but still, better to know your policy about this.

My original idea was for that character to be a Fourth Wave immigrant who started working as a Fusileur, but eventually decided to leave the military to found his own guild on the basis that, as the city expanded even further and the military started having issues helping with local affairs, a guild that was specialized in dealing with such local issues and lacked the military's bureaucratic organization would be a boon for the locals. AKA the Bracer's Guild from the Trails series. Is this too ambitious for a player who came out of nowhere or would you be ok with that?

Also, I don't know how it'd deal with the relationships part since it'd either require me to ask if other players want to establish a relationship with my character or simply handwave it by claiming my character has a neutral/polite attitude toward the others, but no actual friendships or any strong feelings toward them. I know that making him a Fifth Wave immigrant would make things more easy, but I really like the aforementioned guild idea, so...

—- I was also thinking about a suggestion for a "resource" (which is less of a resource and more of a.... system?):

The God's "Immunological System" (placeholder name): As the planet used to be a living being, so it has its own microsystem living within. The God's antibodies/other microscopic lifeforms that reside within can be mixed into vaccines and medicines to prevent or combat a variety of diseases, as well as improve an individual's own performance sometimes (drugs to make one more resilient, for example). It can also backfire in certain doses, making one sick or, at worst cases, being lethal to one's health.

The planet also seems to react to climate changes on its own way, similar to how our bodies would react to different stimuli: Sometimes the temperature increases/decreases for a few days before returning to normal, sometimes the earth becomes less fertile for a few days before returning to normal, sometimes the sea waters remain still or grow increasingly agitated before returning to normal. These reactions usually take a week, with the longest recorded one taking 2,5 weeks and the shortest recorded one taking 5 days.

@Warmaster 23:

  • Sorry for the delay.
  • I have to say, this is very barebones for a sheet. You gave me five sentences for his personality, two sentences for his abilities, you dedicate more towards his pre-Balder backstory (I don't get why an officer would tell someone to either stay at a shelter or join the Fusiliers?) and you have no relationships with the other characters. I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to ask you to beef up those sections- take inspiration from the other players.

@Rapier:

  • Just use the spoiler tag? I got no problems with it.
  • Him being a mercenary wouldn't be a problem, just as long as said guild doesn't get into official Fusiliers business. If it's more like a PI sort of deal, where one can hire them for a private job, then sure, why not?
  • Well, just ask, it's not a problem. But here's what I would do: read up on the other sheets and see what interesting relationships you could come up with. Then make a post going "hey, Player X, I think my character and your character could bla bla bla". Don't make it so the other player has to come up with said relationship. Propose something and then all you need is the other player's approval and/or changes.
  • Whilst I like the climate changes, I feel like trying to write down exactly what changes happen and when would be far too much. I will probably use this concept at some point, though.
  • With regards to the immunological system, I think we have something that already works within your idea: the god's nerves can be mashed and used as medicine (or to give you a really nice high) and there are stories of people who tangled with those nerves and came out slightly mutated.

There is far too much wrong with this sheet. Please, take a look at other sheets for instructions on how to format, how to write detailed backstories/relationships sections, and how to post images. Also, please don't 'spray and pray' the same character over multiple R Ps. Thank you.

Hello everyone!

I'm happy to announce that I've drastically reworked the Balder lore and put it all into one neat Google document, organized with sections, links, pictures, and everything else.

Hopefully this makes things easier for everyone! I've also added the link to my signature, so you can always find it.

Name

  • Tomoe Mami

Appearance

Personality

  • Soft spoken and polite, Mami is the goody-two shoes all other goody-two shoes aspire to be. Appearing for others as a straight laced leader stained with a tint of aloofness, Mami is fully committed to playing the role of the 'sempai'. Years of conformity to this image has made the façade nigh unshakable, indeed, there might be very little left of the original Mami under all the make-up. Yet for those that make a determined effort to peel off the mask, they might catch a glimpse of a Mami that is self-conscious, prone to anger, work obsessed, and deeply lonely.

Powers, Abilities and Equipment

Soul Gem

  • The Soul Gem is the heart of the magical girl- the thing which makes them tick. It is the source of all their magic and is what keeps them alive. In fact, the soul gem is the magical girl. Destroy the soul gem and the magical girl dies, instantly. It is fragile for such a vital organ as its consistency is no better than a glass marble. Drop it down too many stairs and it shatters.
  • The shine of the soul gem indicates the amount of magic available to the magical girl at any given time. A clean soul gem lights up like a 20watt light bulb, sometimes brighter. A soul gem that is drained of magic looks akin with a bag of rancid fat, putrid looking and oily. The soul gem's light is directly connected to and affected by the magical girl's emotional state. A magical girl with a bright soul gem feels like she's on top of the world, while one who's gem is tarnished feels crippling depression. Moreover, if a magical girl experiences emotional trauma and her mood dips, her soul gem will cloud over without her using a single drop of magic. This is known as the depression spiral, where the negative emotions form a vicious cycle of positive feedback. This usually ends in death.

Magic Muskets

  • Her most notable form of attack is to transform her ribbons into guns- usually of the musket variety, but she can make shotguns and pistols all the same. Mami can cause these guns to hover around her and fire on their own or she might fire them herself should she feel the inclination. Cause magic.

Magic Thread

  • One plus side to having your soul ripped out of your body and turned into an egg is that you get magical powers. Mami's magic is centred upon ribbons which she controls and contorts to an endless variety. Her ribbons need not form guns; Mami can stretch them into ladders, weave them into cages, or even spin them into a doppelganger.

Magic Body

  • As a magical girl, Mami runs on magic, and that grants her a number of helpful attributes. Mami can run faster, jump higher, fight longer, and punch harder than the normal human being. She will Out run the Gazelle, tire out Captain America, jump higher than LeBron James and punch harder than Bruce Lee. In terms of pure physical power, she's able to lift your average family car in a pinch so yes, she can lift. Also, with her soul no longer in her body, Mami can take a lot more physical punishment and keep on going.

Personal Timeline

  • Mami arrived in the fourth wave of refugees.
  • After arriving on Balder in the fourth wave, Mami eventually settled into life on the planet as a student, attending the local Wayne Middle school. Five years on, she has since graduated from Wayne high and now plans to join the Fusiliers.

Relationships

  • The first few years after Mami's arrival were rocky and adjusting to the new reality was not easy. Her acclimatisation was made easier by her enrolment in Wayne middle school and it was here that she made her first friend: Yui Kiryuin. The two met after Mami's vigilante incident (and subsequent run-in with Head Judge Matt Murdock) and got along swimmingly. As such, they've stuck with each other through thick and thin- through middle school and now together in Wayne high. However, Mami has yet to let Yui see her as a Magical girl.
  • After the vigilante incident, Mami came begrudgingly under the mentorship of the Head judge Matt Murdock. The two have a strange dynamic, with Mami only agreeing to the arrangement to avoid prison sentence and Judge Murdock developing a father complex towards the maladjusted magical girl.
  • As the good friend of Yui, Mami has crossed paths with Satsuki on multiple occasions; usually when the girls are on a coffee date. Mami and Satsuki do not get along. The two tolerate each other at the best of times, and Mami has been wise enough to avoid anything worse. However, with Mami looking to join the Fuilisers after graduation from Wayne high, their relationship has become even more strained.
  • Since Yui hangs with Freddie a lot, Mami is on good terms with him. However, when its the Freddie and Yui show, Mami becomes a sort of social satellite and hangs around in the corners.
  • Mami's relationship with queen Cassiopeia came more as a pragmatic strategy for survival rather the two clicking as friends. As it turns out, with no witches to hunt, Mami has become unable to cleanse her soul gem. The soul gem's degradation, along with the decline in her own psyche led to the vigilante incident (I swear I'll come up with a more dramatic name for this). It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Matt Murdock put her into contact with Cassiopeia- a person who's magic is able to cleanse her soul gem. Mami sees her once a week for this expressed purpose. They're getting along a lot better now.

Hey bio, you mentioned a lot about what Mami can do, to the point where I can't really see any limitations/nerfs that you've put upon her yourself. I mean, she's a superhuman with what seems like the ribbon version of a Green Lantern ring and she's also a cyborg and functionally immortal. You gotta work with me here, not all of this is gonna fly especially if she's a new arrival with no previous history in Balder.
