Sounds a little bit like Bunnies and Burrows, except for insects. You could probably even adapt the rules.
But the adventage is that since the insects are anthropomorphic, they can use tools wear armor and do other stuff unlike in Bunnies & Burrows.
When you're not the father, It's a great big surprise. Thats-a-Maury.Hmmm. I think you'd want to start with the assumption that your PC's will be social insects. You won't get off the ground if the assassin bug rogue eats all the other characters. But ants, bees, or termites will work together to acheive a goal. Certain kinds of ants even have taverns for everyone to meet in.
Now everyone pat me on the back and tell me how clever I am!Maybe have non-predator insects be playable too along with the main species. Like grasshoppers/crickets/locusts, beetles, butterflies/moths, cockroaches, ect. Although predator insects such as spiders, mantises, and wasps would be playable with the GM's permission.

Interesting. Suggestion: perhaps Honey Bees specifically could be seen as the Orcs of this setting (Always Chaotic Evil/bad reputation) since, IRL, Honey Bees are a dominating force for other pollinators, practically acting as a natural monopoly in the US.
Those who control the honey, controls the world.
Speaking of which I have not even made a tabletop rpg before, although I do have a good amount of experience with tabletop role playing games (Mostly D&D/Pathfinder). I have not thought up any lore (aka fluff) yet, but I do have some concept doodles.

When you're not the father, It's a great big surprise. Thats-a-Maury.that seems to be similar to my idea, although magic exist and has more tribal undertones.
MIA
I got this idea in my head for a Tabletop rpg and wanted to post this.
I do know that there are a load of Anthropomorphic rpgs like Ironclaw. But there does not seem to be an anthro insect one, especially from the point of view of an insect since it's pretty much a Death World to one. Anything can either kill you or eat you, Ranging from anteaters, frogs, bears, kids with magnifying glasses to even other insects (if they're predatory of course).
Not sure if this would be a fantasy setting or something more grounded.
