The Abyss

He coughed, reflexively, before realizing he could still breathe. The smog, the stench of death, it didn't bother him. He'd smelled dead animals before, of course, but this... the fact that Hell itself did not disturb him in the slightest... he despised this place. This Abyss.

My home. His very thoughts betrayed him. No - no! He was not... He could not be...

His arms dropped to his side, and he lowered his head. "I would rather die thinking myself a human than live as a demon." He spoke, voice dull. He dropped his knife at his feet, and held out his arms, staring at his sister. "End this. You've proven yourself my better, devil. I can't so much as scratch you. Kill me, and free me from this Hell."

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Cafeteria — Sam

"WHOO! Bring it!" The Lord Burner (TM) held out both his hands, aiming one at the bits of ceiling and another at the table legs. He let out one large blast of fire from each palm, hot enough to melt not just the ice but also everything else. All of it melted to the ground, forming a large puddle of lava that threatened to melt straight through the floor. And Lord Burner didn't care a whit. "WHOO! Just so you know, I'm immune to that sort of stuff, so I don't care if this whole damn building goes up in flames. Daddy didn't care when he torched my mama, no sir. And I burned him the same way I'm gonna burn you."

Now having an external source to draw from, he reached out towards the magma, calling to it as though he were communicating with it somehow. It jumped up, twisting and turning. And like a stream, it rushed straight toward Sam.

"WHOOO!"

Cafeteria - Vs Alpha:

"You're so right..." Alexa said to her enemy. "Nobody likes sadsacks". Automaton felt that when a supervillain was more humane than a heroics student, then that would make her twisted to the core. Of course, some would say that cold apathy would be better than happiness at the prospect of violence. Alexa's logic and compassion for life would agree, but her self-loathing would say otherwise.

"If I don't stop it now, then it will hurt people". Alexa forced herself to retain this thought in order to do something. When she was "human", this was instantaneous, akin to her instincts. Now... it was a struggle.

Omega activated her jet under her feet and kicked Alpha with it, aiming to burn its body too.

Everything that lives is designed to end.

Sam cursed under his breath as he jumped over the stream of molten metal, using small blocks of ice as footholds before quickly trying to freeze it solid once again. A platform of ice formed underneath him to keep him on the air, before wiping his brow. This is gonna get hotter by the minute, so he quickly took off his shirt and tossed it aside, before cooling the air once again.

"And what did you get from it, a new hobby?" He said to Burner, circling around him midair "Or you just wanted to burn your dad again and again?" Looking at the robots still shooting, several swords appeared, a hand gesture making them fly and strike them with deadly accuracy, before several fists appeared, raining them on his opponent and from as many angles as possible, while sneaking a few to strike some of the other villains.

He just needed to create one small chance, and this fight is his. Or he will be a charred piece of meat.

Wake me up at your own risk.

Cafeteria — Sam, Omega, Rosalinda, Hei, and Lucy

"You bet your ass I did! WHOO!" As the puddle of magma became frozen over, the Lord Burner (TM) held out his psalms, ready to lash out at anything and anyone, ready to burn the school to a crisp—

"HELL?!"

It hit him before he even had a chance to think. Right then and there, Alpha crashed him into like a Buick, sent flying by Omega's jet-fueled kick. For all intents and purposes, Alpha was one large (albeit humanoid,) mass of metal. And it had just been blown into Burner like being rammed by a truck. Needless to say, he was down for the count.

Things weren't looking too good for Alpha either. Sam had conjured up a hell of an assault, and she had just been planted right in the middle of it. Before she could regain her bearings, she was assaulted by fists and swords of ice. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't have done much against her, but crashing into Burner was enough to disorient her if only for a moment. It still wasn't enough to bring her down, but it did keep her occupied. She held up her fists, the ice shattering against them. "FUCKING HELL!"

Things weren't looking too good for Yvanna either. The crow-bot managed to fire a blast, destroying the shield. But she was still losing blood from her earlier wound. If that wasn't tended to...

"Hell," she muttered. "Gonna have to try and end this fast. Or maybe stall for time." She raised her voice, straightening herself as though she were large and in charge. "Look. Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. All I wish is to make a statement. To let those western dogs know that no matter how safe they think are, no-one is truly safe. And for what it was worth, we never intended on killing the students. Not unless they fought back. Or did you think we wanted the entire Superhero community pounding on our doorstep? Besides, I don't wish to kill anyone unless absolutely necessary."

She took a moment to compose herself, collecting her thoughts. "My parents were killed in Iraq. By US soldiers. Couldn't tell by my accent, could you? That took a LOT of practice. Anyway. They said it was an accident. I didn't care. They had to pay. But I didn't want anyone else to pay. Not unless there was no other choice. Like I said. We only wanted to make a statement. No-one's getting killed unless they pose a threat. Or if it's necessary. So why don't you just take a step back and think if trying to fight me is something you really want to do."

By this point, the hordes of robots had more or less been dealt with. Between the oncoming dolls of ink, the twisting tentacles of shadow, the fists of ice or just about anything else, they had all been rendered nothing more than glorified trash heaps. Only one or two were still left standing, and they wouldn't be much of a threat by themselves.

That just left the Lethal Legion. Speaking of which.

"YEAH BABY! THAT's WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!" A puddle of darkness emerged in front of Lucy, reforming into Elim faster than the eye could blink. "You see? YOU SEE?! This is what you are! What we both are! This is the real you! So come on! Accept it! Don't let it conquer you! Don't try to fight it! Embrace it! Make it yours! Or are you gonna let it trash everyone and everything else you care about? Besides the boy-toy?"

"Oh, don't be so harsh, Darkheart. If your precious Lucy has taken such an interest in my darling boy, then there must be something to him, mustn't there?" Another form emerged, this time right in front of Hei. This form was more like a shadow than a puddle. Much like Hei's. It soon materialized, revealing itself to be none other than a woman. An older woman. A beautiful woman. She was dressed in satin, jewelry, and fine furs. She was well groomed and had just the right amount of makeup. She was gorgeous and she knew it. And didn't hesitate to flaunt it. Not that this was her primary concern just now.

"Miss me, my darling boy? It's been so long since we last saw each other. In fact, I bet you barely remember me, don't you? Though then again, how could anyone truly forget their own mother?"

Hallway — Rebecca and Victoria

Pacifier simply looked at Rebecca as though she were completely and absolutely insane. "Are you daft? Were you dropped on your head as an infant? Is that it? Or did you seriously think I would tell you absolutely everything there is to know about everything? What do you think I am? A Rebublic serial villain?" She pinched her nose with her free hand, starting to become exasperated. As she did so, Rebecca could slowly feel her powers start to return. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. If nothing else, it was a sign that whatever Rebecca was doing, it was working. Clearly, infuriating her with acts of seeming idiocy was the answer.

Or at least it would've been if Victoria hadn't stepped in. Before Pacifier could so much as blink, she let out a whammy of a punch, knocking Pacifier out cold. Thems was the breaks.

Hallway — Ever and Olivier

"You really are dense, you know that?" said the plant girl. "I came here to kill everyone else. Course, they said I wasn't actually allowed to kill anyone unless it was necessary. So I just told them what they wanted to hear. Look, it's really simple. Every single sack of meat deserves to die. But everything else — you and me — doesn't. When I said I don't want to fight you, I meant it. But if you try and protect these meatsacks, then I guess I won't have much of a choice. Besides, you eat enough red-blooded meatsacks anyway. What's the difference between one and the other?"

Training Room — Matten

Reverie was more confused than anything else. Even as Matten grasped her, she couldn't help but think back to all Matten had said. And whether or not Matten was a loonie. It was a struggle, but before long, she managed to let out one mighty blast of energy and freed herself from Matten's grasp, knocking her back to the nearest wall in the process.

"What are you babbling on about?! 'Recovery program'? 'Free agent'? I do not understand what even half of all that means! Are you trying to confuse me or does being a sinner also mean you are a braindead moron?!"

The Abyss — Mikeal

"Are you serious?" said Morgoth. "I mean, I didn't bring you here to kill you. I brought you here so you could become what you were always meant to be! Besides, being human is overated anyway."

She sat down on a large pile of skulls, almost like plopping onto a throne. She spread out her arms and legs, practically lounging without any sense of deceny or manners. "I used to be human too, ya know? Or half human anyway. Grew up in a piss-poor little town in the sticks. Barely remember it now. Guess that's what happens when you spend most of your time down here. Anyway, my mother was one of the best mom's you could ever have. She was sweet. Kind. Always gave me a slice of apple pie whenever I wanted it. And loved me like nothing else. Can't say the same for daddy."

She picked up a skull, eyeing it as though in remembrance. "My daddy would've fit in just fine down here. Hell, wouldn't be suprised if he's cleaning the stalls in the nether regions of this place. Not that I ever cared to look. Anyway, my dad didn't start out so bad. Not great, but there were worse. But then he lost his job. And he started turning to booze. And we all started to see him for what he really was. Not long after that, he killed my mom. Got sentenced for life. Wasn't enough for me. I wanted him dead. He killed the one person I ever really cared about. And I wanted vengeance."

Her eyes began to glow, her smile curling up to her lips. "And that's when my real daddy came to me. Turns out the daddy that raised me wasn't my actual father. Didn't spring from his loins so to speak. Kinda glad at that. Anyway, most anyone would've been damn pissed to find out their real daddy's a demon, but all I cared about was making him pay. And my real daddy said he could do just that. All I had to do was come down to the Abyss when I was 18 and embrace my heritage. Become what I was meant to be. I would've been lying if I said I didn't have any doubts, but then and there, I didn't care. I wanted him to pay."

Morgoth then crushed the skull in her hands, turning it into nothing but fine powder. "So he did. Had a heart attack right in his cell. Doctors never could figure out what caused it. But I knew better. Anyway, a deal was a deal. I got turned over to foster care, spent the rest of my teen years doing whatever, and then when I was 18 came down here. And the rest is history."

She got up off her throne of skulls, slowly walking towards Mikeal as though she were the sexiest thing alive. "See, when you get down to it, humanity isn't all that better than us. They're just as capable of doing just as nasty things as we are. And I say, we're actually better off. Because at least we're honest about it. Wouldn't you agree?" By this point, Morgoth had been talking long enough that the effects of the Abyss were starting to take their toll. Mikeal was still mostly himself in body and mind, but his skin was starting to turn just the slightest shade of a red. And a small part of him — just ever so small — considered that Morgoth may have had a point.

The Indoor Pool — The Breather Episode

"Look, I know it's rough," said Jessica, "but there just isn't anything else I can do. The enchantment's too ingrained. Not even Bozo could take it off at this point. Sometimes, there just isn't much that can be done. And I'm living proof of that."

What a bothersome Navigator, and I thought my Navi were bad!

Rosalinda kicked a nearby robot in the leg, toppling it, and crushed its head with a hammer. She tried to edge closer to Yvanne.

"Look, I don't like Los Estados Unidos either, but your friend hurt my classmate. What do you have to say for it? What threat does she pose?"

Cafeteria - You Done Goofed

As soon as Elim had finished his little speech, several tendrils from the mass snapped around his neck faster than the eye could see, constricting and lifting him up a few feet off the ground. More tendrils wrapped around his arms, abdomen, and legs, tightening and halting his blood flow.

Several thinner tentacles extended from his ink-based noose, slipping inside his mouth and stretching his lips back by four corners. With a shudder, a significantly larger tendril shot out of the mass, spraying flecks of ink everywhere and forcing itself down Darkheart's gullet, aiming to fill up his lungs until the black ooze leaked out of every orifice imaginable.

For a second, it was possible to catch a glimpse of Lucy's unconscious form in the midst of the mass of ink, neck still craned upward and eyes rolled back, mouth locked open as ink poured out from it, adding to the ever-expanding mass.

Training Room

I wouldn't say trying really. You seem pretty confuzzled, Matten watched her phantasm fly into the wall, shattering. Also, the angel can do that aura burst too...

The daeva meanwhile fiddled with the controls to the room, while she—phantasm self—made her ill-fated piledriver move.

"Is there another option..." Matten flicked the lights just before disappearing. ...And teleporting dozens of poisonous tentacles through Reverie's wings and arms, which then began to hook into the angel's limbs and tear and pull.

"In any case, survive this, I've got a surprise for you playmate," The announcement came from many directions while Matten teleported herself around the training room, drawing her Khvarenah around herself.

"And thanks for choosing to come after me. I know how many students there are at this school, and that you chose me means alot."

The Abyss

As he listened to his sister's story, Mikael leaned down and picked up his knife, sliding it back into his belt. He reached a hand up to his chest, feeling his locket under his shirt. He tried to cling to his memories of Opa, hoping they would push aside that unsettling feeling of contentment this place brought him (and that other, ever-so-slight whisper in his mind telling him that Morgoth was actually quite attractive...).

"I pity you." He said at last. "You think that the actions of one man define all men. That because you were willing to sell your soul to kill one man, that being a demon is somehow preferable to kindness or compassion."

He visualized his own soul, drawing again on his power. Perhaps it was his gradual transformation, but he somehow felt... stronger. The energy within him glowing brighter. He focused on those bygone days of hunting with his grandfather, and saw his soul split itself down the middle - half blue, half red. Half human, half demon. He pulled at his spirit again, but this time, the human half. He began to sweat, his face growing even redder, but he was able to keep the demonic taint out of this clump of energy.

"And yet, I also thank you. Unlike you, I lost my mother when I was very young. Yet I still remember her love, and her warmth. My Opa, my grandfather, he raised me with that same love, though he rarely showed it." He pushed his power, his sheer belief in humanity, into the locket. Where once it merely protected his body, now it guarded even his mind.

The urges building within him vanished.

(Well, for the moment. He didn't know how strong they would get. Nonetheless, he would sooner take his own life than succumb to them.)

"So... sister." He smiled at her, and this time he was truly sincere. "I apologize for earlier. I don't want to kill you. I was, after all, training to be a Hero. And heroes do not mindlessly kill demons... they save those who are lost." He held out his hand to her, palm upward.

"We may be demons, yes. I can no longer deny this. But we don't have to be monsters. You could teach me how to harness this power of ours... and use it for good." He paused a moment, and a thought came to him, his smile widening slightly. "After all, would you not wish to make a world where no little girl would ever have to go through what you did?"

The moment Emil appeared in front of Lucy, Hei raised his shadow dagger at the other umbrakinetic, but The Entity had beaten him to the punch. The appearance of a third shadow user startled Hei, and he quickly aimed his pistol at the materializing figure, a woman this time. Her appearance surprised him, but that was nothing compared to her words.

“Youre my...mother?” Hei spoke, his voice laden with disbelief, distrust, anger, and maybe just a little hope” “I have a mother?” He began to lower the gun, but stopped himself once questions arose. “Hold up. How do I know you’re telling the truth? Why am I only hearing about this now?”

Despite his questions, Hei knew he shared blood with the woman in front of him. Leaving aside their identical eyes and powers, She...felt familiar, like he had met her long, long ago.

Why is my mother working with those attacking my Home- I mean My class!? ” Hei demanded.

Didn't see that coming Sam thought as Alpha took out the matchstick Can't complain, though

While the cyborg girl was kept occupied, it was clear he wasn't doing much damage, so he made the fragments stick to her and start freezing her solid, starting by the legs and going up. The swords and hands laying in the defeated robots started doing the same. With one move, he made what's left of them slam into Alpha, and used that chance to make giant fists, hammer and maces that fell directly on her, the hammers spinning very fast and impacting on the head.

Liam

Liam looked across the hallway area at his opposite, increasingly realizing this guy was 1) telling the truth given his powers' reaction thus far, and 2) pretty damn skilled in using his powers. He then heard what sounded like more fights going on, and thought, maybe they should switch foes? First though he needed to deal with Sovereign here...

Liam flared up his Regalia power again, the energy showing on his hands and on his shoulders, "If I'm being honest, I've never heard of that. But I'll deal."

However even as Liam went with displaying Regalia, he suddenly deployed his wires, infused with a powerful infusion of Regalia to hit the ceiling above Sovereign - the moment the wires connected the ceiling would explode and rain down on his foe.

He then considered who around him might be able to switch foes plausibly and quickly...

Cafeteria

"You mean the girl? She was meant to be a distraction. We knew about her powers and her past. And Darkheart was able to figure out what she really was. So we figured if we riled her up enough, we could replicate the event that activated her powers in the first place. And while you were all busy dealing with her, we'd be able to carry out our plans with any interference. Not that it worked given that she's barely given you the time of day, but we thought it was worth a shot." Yvanne looked at Lucy, currently busy trying her best to turn Darkheart into jelly. "...Though in hindsight, that probably wasn't the best move."

As for Darkheart, things didn't look good. Black ink was twisting his body, filling his every orifice, threatening to hear him apart. His stomach twisted and turned, his eyes were watering in agony, and he... honestly did not give a shit. He dissolved his body, turning it back into darkness and weaved his way around Lucy as he fell down in the shadows below, rematerializing in another corner of the cafeteria and as far away from her as possible.

"Seriously?! D Id you just try to kill me?! You seriously just tried to kill me! This isn't how it should've been. You're still trying to save your boytoy. You went after me and the robots instead of everyone else." And then it hit him. "I don't believe it. I believe it but I don't believe it! You're still in there! Somehow, some part of you is still in there, struggling on! Still trying to save the day and be the good little girl everyone wants you to be! Well, get this. You think anyone's gonna want anything do with you after this? They know who you are, what you are. The only way you're ever gonna feel normal after this is to just accept that thing as part of yourself. To let it into yourself. Cause if you don't, they're just gonna hound you for the rest of your days. Like they tried to do to me. Don't you see? I'm trying to save you! So why don't you just listen to me alrady?!"

"So many questions," said the woman claiming to be Hei's mother. "But before I answer any of them, tell me if you remember this little diddy. I think you will. Sleep my child and peace attend thee, all through the night! Guardian angels God will send thee, all through the night! Soft the drowsy hours are creeping, hill and dale in slumber sleeping, I my loved ones' watch am keeping, all through the night." Something struck a chord with Hei. He couldn't remember anything else no matter how much he tried, and he wasn't sure if he even really remembered that song. And yet, somehow, he couldn't help but feel as if he heard that song somewhere before. And sung in that exact same voice...

As soon as Liam's wires hit the ceiling, they exploded like a heavy-duty bomb, bringing a large chunk of it down on not just Sovereign but Alpha as well. For his part, Sovereign simply held out his hands as they glowed with an awesome power. A wave of energy spread out from them, covering him in a golden shield of energy that protected him from harm even as the chunks of concrete plummeted to the ground. And he smiled like a madman as they did.

Alpha wasn't so lucky. If it were just the concrete or the ice structures, she might have stood a chance. But it was just too much. Everything came barreling at her at once, crushing and piercing and freezing her to high heaven. In the end, she fell to the ground with a heavy thud, cursing whoever did this to her as she did so.

Training Room

Reverie screamed in pain. The tentacles spread within her body, threatening to tear her apart to the point where the only thing she could do was scream in anguish. That and one other thing. Another flash of white light appeared, and when it did, Reverie was gone. Back to wherever she had come from. But she had left behind a souvenir. One single, white feather. With just the slightest tint of black. A parting gift. One that left a message: That this was not the end.

The Abyss

Morgoth looked at Mikael's now mostly red hand with a mixture of disbelief and disgust. She stared up at him, wondering if he was truly willing to walk away from the path she herself had embarked on just like that.

As for Mikael, he was even farther along. His skin had largely turned a nice red hue, and thick stubs had begun to protrude out of his skull. Two little wings had begun to grow from his back, and a short stubby tail was sticking out of his rear. He was also beginning to grow larger, his muscles growing and expanding like those of a heavyweight's. And his eyes were slowly starting to grow red like the fires of Hell itself. And yet, in spite of all that, he was still himself. Whether or not it was because of some sheer force of will or something deeper, Morgoth wasn't entirely sure, but for now, he managed to keep any oncoming impulses or urges at bay. Though he was starting to have a strange fondness for 100+ degree weather...

Morgoth nearly smacked away Mikhael's hand, but whether it was out of some sense of sisterly affection or something else, she couldn't quite bring herself to do it. "I would. Come to think of it. But if you're asking me to make that world with you, I can't. Not the way you want it. I started walking this path years ago. And it's far too late for me to stop walking it now. That said. If you still wish me to teach me how to, shall we say, adjust to your full inheritance, than I can do that much. However you want to use it. And I won't stand in your way." She smirked, her eyes lighting up brighter than ever. "And if you ever do get tired of walking the path you've chosen, you're always welcome to start walking mine."

Training Room—>Science Lab

Matten scowled, soundlessly, but her flaring khvarenah and the sudden lack of floor betrayed her frustration. "I let her go. Ugh! The captain is going to be displeased...not to mention the good Doctor Bozo. I've been trying to show how good of a research apprentice I'd make. She didn't even stay for my surprise..."

She avoided touching the feather for a moment, before teleporting into the science lab, quickly following, and placing the feather in mason jar. "Although, if this is an invitation, I'll forgive you. I remember you wanted your name to be known for centuries. I can stretch out hunting you down over centuries. That would be my pleasure..."

Hallway — Rebecca and Victoria

"Captain Pollutrix, Matten-Mahsa Mattiuza reporting!" Matten appeared in front of Rebecca, curtsying before giving her report, "I encountered a wayward angel who possesses at the very least the powers of direct traverse in a burst of light, flight, and light energy manipulation. Though she seems limited to small bursts from her whole body and narrow blasts from her hands."

She finished her curtsy and made to one knee, incidentally pressing into the back of the downed, under dressed woman who looked like she'd grown quite a know on her jaw. "In any case, my apologies, but she has fled, and I did not fell her."

Still on one knee, Matten brought a finger to her chin, "Of the present situation, I'm aware of a cluster of auras consistent with Killing Intent in the cafeteria of course. I'm not familiar enough with our Class 1 to tell them apart though. However, given that they found me, and presumably you here, they have some means of targeting us, which we haven't detected. There's a few dots of aura consistent with stress around the school, but it is school. I'm not aware of the teachers responding to this either. Is this a special project of our class or an effort on students and teachers alike?" They had not responded to the last cafeteria incident either, but Ms. Jasmine came hastily about the pool. Perhaps these enemies are a gift to us?

For the first time, Matten acknowledged the woman she had been stepping then kneeling on. Her clothes and skin weren't doing too well, but if the Captain wanted her alive and able then she would say so. "Excellent work with this one by the way. I didn't figure you for a slugger. In any case," she returned to a formal tone, "what would you have me do, Captain?"

"Oh," Matten rose for a moment giving a curtsy to Victoria, "Greetings and Salutations, classmate."

"If you can't somebody else can! What if I knock off the dude that cast the enchantment in the first place? Or genies - genies are real, right? I know the feds probably have something that can fix this. What are you going to tell their fucking parents - Emani's dad is going to flip!" Mike started hyperventilating and wildly pacing up and down, trying to come up with solutions.

Cafeteria

If any of Darkheart's words got through to Lucy, it was impossible to tell. There was no visible or audible reaction in the ink mass, the tendrils lazily waving in the air and making no attempt to move after him as he retreated.

Indeed, it seemed less bothered with Hei now, even. One question, however, might come up in Elim's mind:

How could an unconscious person morally object?

Ever dropped her hand to her side once more, and walked up to the other girl. As she approached it became increasingly clear what all that talking had accomplished. Ever was much larger than when the conversation started, and head and shoulders above the plant girl.

"Change blindness is a wonderful thing is it not?" Ever gave a sincere smile and placed her hand on the smaller girl's shoulders. "Clearly you are only going to repeat yourself until the school has faded to dust around us, so I'm going to jump to the questions. Let's start simple shall we? What is your name and who is leading the attack on the school? How did you know where each target was today? What is the group's end goal or goals?"

Argue everything you can argue. Doubt everything you believe. Ask every question you have. Argue, doubt and ask. Through this we learn.

"Stay where you are, lady" Sam said as he landed and walked past Alpha's unconscious body. Making a hand, blue, bigger and sturdier than the others, as the most of the other ice pieces disappeared. While no one was looking, he made it fly out of the cafeteria, and making it come back, bursting the wall behind Darkheart and striking him dead in the head, following it by grabbing his head and slamming it against the wall in a clear attempt to shove his skull through the wall.

"You talk too much" He said. "Your goading to Lucy is getting tiresome, and she has nothing in common with you. She has issues? This proves it, but she isn't a monster like you"

"And not piece of trash like you either" He ended with disgust. Sam walked to Hei and Lucy, he put a hand on Hei's shoulder as comfortingly as he could and spoke to his mother.

"So, you are Lin's mother?" He asked "You got a pretty cool son, no thanks to you obviously" His talk was even, but he showed quite a bit of disdain.

Cafeteria

Hei nearly dropped his gun when the woman started singing. ”Those words...that melody and voice...” Hei thought in disbelief as a fuzzy memory surfaced in his mind.

A pich black void that obscured everything, yet felt comforting. A beautiful voice singing a lullaby, sending him sleep. Silver irises gazing down at him before slumber took hold...

Hei found himself on his knees, vision blurred with tears. ”They’re identical...”

“Y-you...You really are my mother.” He mumbled in a daze, looking at the shadowy woman. “I actually have a family...”

A steady weight pressed down Hei’s shoulder, breaking him out of his thoughts before he turned into a sobbing mess. Blinking the tears out of his eyes, he turned to see that it was Sam standing next to him and glaring at his mother. Hei quickly took a couple of deep breaths to compose himself and stood up, briefly giving his roommate a nod of thanks before speaking to his mother

“I’m...I’m honestly not s-sure what I should feel right now.” Hei admitted. “I mean, I-I’m happy to find out I have a mother, and I’m happy to meet y-you face to face but...I still have so many questions!” Hei began to get louder as he continued, obviously quite worked up. “Who are you? Why didn’t I know about you until now? Where have you been all this time? Why are you working with the fucking Legion!?

“Which reminds me. You! Elim!” He yelled at the retreating figure of Elim. “Don’t think I didn’t hear you talking shit! You lost control and people turned on you? Too fucking bad, stop bitching just because Lucy has friends! Her class! And if they don’t stick by her, she’ll still have me by her side!” Hei finished, panting slightly from his tirade.

Rebecca’s questioning broke through Pacifier’s focus easier than anticipated. She could feel her powers coming back to her. This was her chance!

... or Vicky could just punch her out. That worked too.

“Thanks Vicky, you’re a real lifesaver!”

That’s when Matten showed up, and gave an uncharacteristically helpful report on the situation. She seemed to legitimately see Rebecca as a leader, which was a little embarrassing, but they could discuss that later. Right now they needed to focus. The fact that no teachers had responded was a bad sign, as there was no way they were unaware of the incident at this point. Right. If she was going to be a leader, she may as well give orders.

“First of all, get off that woman. We’re going to want her alive for questioning once this whole thing is over, so if either of you have a way to restrain her, that would be appreciated. Second, we need to locate a teacher. If they haven’t intervened yet they either don’t know what’s going on or are in serious trouble. If it’s the former, it’s up to us to inform them; if it’s the latter, maybe we can cause enough of a distraction to tip the fight in their favor. Now follow me!”

With that, Rebecca ran down the hallway in what she hoped was the direction of the teachers’ lounge, only to be stopped in her tracks by the the sight of Ever staring down... another Ever.

Matten bounced up, curtsying, "As you wish. Right away!"" before giving the woman a once-over. "Well, I didn't get to her spine with that, so..."

She immediately stretched four tentacles into the woman's limbs, drilling into the woman's two femurs and each radius, ulna and humerus, "Restraining!" Hairline fractures would do, but complete severing would make sure... Hm, may as well finish it. Captain Pollutrix would appreciate the thoroughness. Perhaps Bozo too. Besides, I bet someone around her could mitigate her condition, contingent on her penance...

Cafeteria:

It seemed that Alpha had been dealt with. "Good..." Alexa muttered before she noticed how oil was spilling from her torn hand. She covered the wounds in order to prevent the fuel from spilling further. Automaton looked around the surrounding to find the potential source... and she did it. Cafeteria was practically filled with robots from Lethal legion. Omega approached one of them, analyzed its corpse to look for the "heart" and ripped it out from its innards. Alexa munched on it, spewing out wires other unsavory parts. Alexa was fully aware that it made her look like a derange corpse eater, but she had no choice. Despite this, guilt surfaced in her mind, further cementing her belief that she was a monster. "I'll have to ask for a portable fuel supplier... I won't do this... never again..."

It did not stop the "bleeding", but her supplies were replenished. She flew to Alpha and took out her arm blade. "Happy, now?" Alexa said to unconscious enemy, before looking at Elim, the source of this catastrophe. For the first time in her school life, she felt intense hatred towards something. Figuring that her attack would not really kill him, Omega quickly flew up to him and stabbed him with her blade. "That was for stabbing Oliver, you son of a bitch." She said with boiling hatred. "And remember this: Lucy is nothing like you and will never be." For this action, she had no regrets.

Automaton joined Hei and Sam, bringing the blade as well.

Ever saw Rebecca coming down the hall and waved to her. "Ah. Rebecca, just in time. Could you escort Oliver to the nurse's office? I was just about to distract this plant monster here. Question her as well, but mostly distract her. Besides, I don't want to force either of you to watch this. When dealing with our sort, it's all or nothing and never pretty."

Eucalyptus oil sprayed from Ever's hand coating her opposite. The sincere serene smile never left her face as Ever planted her other hand firmly beneath the plant girl's armpit. Her lips parted as she said: "I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to answer quicker than that." and promptly slammed the girl into the lighting fixture. The oil lit up like petrol as Ever cast the girl away before the fire could spread to her. Ever waited for the sprinklers to activate and put the girl out before leaning over and putting her hand once more on her shoulder. The light contact this time carried a threatening air about it.

"Your way of thinking is so common, I would like to let you go. Maybe you'll learn better as you live your life. You just have to answer my questions and you can go find yourself a home. Among the mountains maybe. I'll ask once more, add a few more this time. What is your name and who is leading the attack on the school? What is your target? How did you know where each target was today? What is the group's end goal or goals? How did whoever is leading you convince you to work together? Where is your leader's base of operation?"

Liam

I do remember stories of the opposite power to Regalia, from Grandma - of a power its opposite in nature, but which originated as its other half. Could I...?

The thought was interrupted as he realized his attack had taken down someone he had not even intended to take down. He looked around, realizing that people were more freed up now that one of the Lethal Legion was down. "Hey! Anyone wanna switch dance partners with me?" Liam shouted, figuring that if they didn't fight someone so keyed in on their power, then that could help them win.

Lucy...Lucy was a monster now, but Liam was used to having a monstrous power. Regalia was bright and shiny, but it was capable of downright ugly things.

He'd accept her. No matter what.

So for now he created a bright flare of Regalia's light, intending to distract his counterpart with the light to let someone else jump in and offset the Lethal Legion's plan.

Everyone, it seems, is fighting someone who is their opposite...
