I feel like this trope tends to be used to describe any sort of ghostly train that appears in fiction. I have a draft in TLP called Ghost Train that I'm almost ready to launch. I just want to be absolutely sure that there's a difference between that draft and this trope.

The way I see it...

  • Afterlife Express is a peaceful train that carries spirits to the afterlife. May be symbolic of the journey to the afterlife rather than a literal object. May be portrayed in a benevolent light as well.
  • Ghost Train is a spooky train created or possessed by wicked or amoral spirits on Earth to carry them around and scare people. Almost always evil, or at least frightening.

Plenty of people who have commented on the TLP draft seem to agree that there is enough of a difference between the two to warrant a separate trope. I just want to make it official before I launch Ghost Train.
