I think the cartoony art style works against it. Could be mistaken for Blush Sticker.
I think the more obvious makeup fail (smudged lipstick, exaggerated eyeshadow, runny mascara) in the old pic puts it above

The replacement looks like a different trope. I don't know if we have one for "Just As Ugly As Before" but that's what it looks like.

While it is nice that the new image has a before and an after, the before is just as ugly as the after, defeating the purpose. I personally prefer the old one.
