Out of all the possible origins Rey being some random person is the worst in my mind. Heck, I'd take her being a clone or reincarnation of Anakin over it. That would be stupid but at least she's have some connection to the Skywalker family. If this stuff is true it means the only Skywalkers that ever mattered are either evil assholes or complete failures. Obviously they could redeem Kylo but then he's just shitty Darth Vader.
All of this sounds like Star Wars. Grew up with the EU, so none of this sounds particularly unusual if true.
The visual guide leaks were quite interesting though, love the Praetorian Guard (returning the ever delightful Teräs Käsi). What is noticeably absent was the Knights of Ren.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleI'm sorry but it's not Star Wars to me unless a Skywalker is the main protagonist. Novels and side movies can focus on other people but my main investment in the films is in that family. Heck, I thought Kennedy said the main saga is the story of the family. Where does this movie leave the family? Anakin? Dead. Leia? Alive but won't appear due to Carrie's death. Luke? Deadish. Kylo? An evil asshole that should die but will probably be redeemed for bullshit reasons just to have future Skywalker babies.
About Finn and Rose leaks I saw on reddit claimed that he goes to a casino planet to track down a master code breaker to sneak aboard a First Order ship to sabotage some device that they're using to track the Resistance through Hyperspace. Initially he gets knocked out by Rose because she hates traitors and thinks he's deserting them in the middle of battle. When infiltrating the First Order he gets recognized by a Stormtrooper who thinks he was promoted after being sent to infiltrate the Resistance. Phasma meanwhile is mentioned in the movie or EU material to have killed absolutely everyone in the First Order who could've outed her as lowering Starkiller Base's shields before leaving it to avoid being executed for treason.
They also said about Snoke that its implied he was the First Jedi and that originally the Jedi used both the Light and Dark side of the Force, remaining balanced between the two.
Luke meanwhile in the same ones was said to have some kind of connection to or references Revan and has come to view the Force kind of like Kreia in that it constantly shifts and causes the galaxy to suffer, and that he never intended to leave the planet having sunk his X-wing into the ocean and swore off using the Force. He responds to Rey by throwing Anakin's lightsaber into the ocean, walking away, and ignoring her presence completely while hanging around with Chewie. Eventually he only agrees to train her because R2 shows him the old hologram of Leia's "Obi-Wan you are my only hope" message.
Meanwhile with Ren he shares some kind of Force Bond with Rey that Luke can't sense but Rey can. Ren is sent out in a fighter in a battle with the Resistance and goes to make a bombing run on Leia's flagship the Raddus but can't bring himself to do it, but one of his wingmen takes the shot instead and destroy the bridge possibly killing Admiral Ackbar and leaving Leia in a coma. Ren plans to betray Snoke. The other Knights of Ren aren't mentioned at all and don't show up.
Those are from the visual guide and are correct, although the actual pages give more in-depth information. There's a mural in the Jedi temple on Ach-To that represents the Prime Jedi, meditating in balance with the Force. For some this mural looked like Snoke, but there's nothing that would suggest this, the picture was blurry.
The connection to Revan seems to be a crystal Luke has on a pendant, which is stated to be from a Jedi Crusader, who in Legends were the Revanchists. Luke's research has made him realise that the Force tends to act cyclically, in a constant attempt to achieve equilibrium like a universal Octet rule.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleIf we are going by that interpretation of the Balance of the Force, then the filmmakers really did not understand what George Lucas meant by that.
Balance of the Force refers to the Sith being destroyed because they are the embodiment of the Dark Side. The Dark Side is the imbalance, a cancer to the Force itself.
You cannot balance the light and the dark because the dark will always seek to consume the light in its selfish desire. It is their nature to do so.
After all, the term Light Side did not exist in Star Wars canonically (until TFA that is).
That is the bit that truly sours me on the whole thing, and I doubt any amount of masterful execution can save it.
I think everyone who even halfway knows me knows I absolutely fucking loathe this Golden Mean Fallacy bullshit so it shouldn't come off as a surprise.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Okay I just had a terrible thought. So if Rey really is a random then that means Reylo is on the table. Now, she wants to redeem Ren. Logically this has to happen unless Disney wants to cut off the possibility of future Skywalkers. The movie evidently plays up the idea that they have some kind of connection. So here's my theory. The two of them are literally destined to be together due to the will of the Force. Movie 9 will end with her redeeming Ren through The Power of Love and then they'll found a school and have Skywalker babies. I pray to God I'm wrong but I could definitely see this being how it plays out.
God what a trash heap this film's concept turned out to be.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."I like the ideas, but before I see the movie hard to see if it will come together.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleWhile I hope the spoilers turn out to be false, there's definitely some double standards here in terms of condemning these movies for things people were totally okay with in earlier movies.
Like wile Luke obviously wasn't really a simple farmboy as Vader turned out to be his father, Anakin himself was. So there really isn't necessarily an intrinsic idea that you need to be from some kind of Force-sensitive aristocratic bloodline to be a Jedi. AFAIK, Chrriut in Rogue One was a nobody who was Force Sensitive and had powerful abilities due to his spirituality and training and the only reason he wasn't a full Jedi is because there were no Jedi around to train him.
Also, while Lucas has rejected it (not sure if he's flip-flopped on this score), I'd say that the movies support the idea that balance in the Force involves both Light and Dark. Hence the popular and logical Prophecy Twist with Anakin being prophesied to bring balance to the Force and seemingly achieving it by wiping out the Jedi and being one of the few Sith.

They explained why Anakin is special already. Rey is the one that sticks out for being some nobody.
Isn't it an identical situation of some random person being a Force messiah (putting to aside that idea of Palpatine impregnating Anakin's mother via virgin birth)?
A movie supporting the idea you need light and dark comes across as some edge lord lecturing me about the horseshoe effect and the golden mean. There's nothing worthwhile or necessary about what the First Order and Kylo are doing, and portraying that way is fucking stupid.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Is Rey the Force messiah? None of the leaks imply that. If anything the only reason she's special appears to be because she's connected to Ren for no reason. See my post above for how I expect that to play out.
Wait til the film comes out folks. Then you'll know if the "spoilers" in this thread are true or bogus.
How about we refrain from attacking the writers by comparing them to communists and calling their work "ejaculate"?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? This happens with every new movie. People are heavily invested in the franchise.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleTons of people are confirming them. The person I'm getting this from also leaked Justice League a week before release.
Some people go too far but given how things were set up this entire thing is just a slap in the face. If it's Rian's doing then I think it's fair to call him a hack.

That's not even what being a hack means.
You don't call someone a hack cause you don't like their creative decisions.
Maybe what Rey and Kylo have is something like Twin Telepathy.
For all this talk about Rey being a Skywalker or Kenobi I've seen little speculation on her being a Solo XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Having seen his other films, he's certainly no hack. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to like his take on SW.
Even if he's not I don't think he has any respect for the franchise or the groundwork laid in TFA and multiple novels and comics. You can't honestly watch TFA and read the numerous novels and tell me the stuff in this movie gels with it. There are too many dropped plotlines. Since he supposedly had a lot of creative freedom I'm going to assume the blame rests squarely on his shoulders.
Rey is too young for that. Even if that is the case it's another example of shitty writing. There's no logical reason that wouldn't have come up by now. It couldn't be some huge secret given how important Leia is.

Pure right hand versus left hand. The Story Group Politburo obviously changed the Party Line, or they have less control over the overarching story than they claim.
