Microids (formerly Microïds) is a French Video Game publisher and developer based in Paris. Founded by Elliot Grassiano in 1985, for a long time, it was one of the most important video game companies of the country alongside Ubisoft and Infogrames. After Anuman Interactive took over the company in 2010, Microids expanded into various branches such as independent games and licensed games, for a larger international market.
The company is mostly known for developing series such as Syberia, Still Life and Gear Club. They are also known for making licensed games based on Franco-Belgian Comics and animations such as The Smurfs, Asterix or Tintin.
The company's name is a portmanteau of "microinformatics" and "android". Initially spelled "Microïds", it was anglicized to "Microids" in 2019 as it became more known worldwide.
They have nothing to do with the antagonists of Millennia: Altered Destinies.
