Opened.
I've played Space Rangers 2, and have to say that the OP is really an Overworld Not to Scale example, but with a caveat: the planets move from their position. The game is turn-based, and when moving towards a planet, with each turn the game corrects your path in accordance with the destination's new postion, so if, at the first turn of your journey, the path from Earth to Mars would take, say, 3 turns to complete, this is not guaranteed in the end: it might as well take 4 or 5, depending how far Mars would go away. I'm not sure if it fits either suggested trope, although I'm more inclined to move it to Conveniently Close Planet.

Spiral out, keep going.Maybe an image of the destruction of the Hosnian System from The Force Awakens? The picture shows 4 planets in the Hosnian System, all visible in the same frame, all being destroyed at exactly the same time by a superweapon fired from a planet in a distant system.
If anyone wants to check for a better frame, a clip of that scene from the movie can be found here.
That's not bad.
I'm strongly opposed to changing the Conveniently Close Planet picture (or at least removing the Real Life picture). The point of pictures is to inform the reader of the trope, and the real life picture effectively communicates that almost every single fictional example of space travel underestimates the distance between planets.

This image◊ (from Space Rangers 2) was suggested in the Image Suggestion thread for the trope SciFiWritersHave. No Sense Of Distance. However, I think it's actually illustrating the Sub-Trope Conveniently Close Planet better than the current image on that page (which is really a subversion). I suggested this instead◊ for No Sense of Distance. Thoughts on either action?
