The 4th episode is one of the funniest things I've watched in a while
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.At its core, it's intelligent. That doesn't mean it's always good, but writer knows what he's doing and doesn't just blindly imitate tropes for no reason.
I watched it last night because the general thread seemed to have a good impression of it.
I liked it.
My impression so far is that it seems like high quality "junk food" anime.
Similar to Chivalry of a Failed Knight from a couple of years ago.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobHas a good amount of video game shout outs, some actually shown (Persona 4: Arena Ultimax), others in Bland-Name Product form. I had fun spotting some of them.
Pretty hilarious (and occasionally heartwarming) interaction between the characters. I'm expecting a Love Dodecahedron to form later on.
And Karen's just adorable. (Adorkable?)
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Personally., I love the way it subverts the expected tropes, and the 5 main characters in 3-overlapping love triangles of misunderstanding are hilarious to watch.
And so the marathon of misunderstandings continues...
Never have I wanted to jump inside of a tv and scream at fictional characters.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.a nice pentagram of the relationships, as of episode 5:

This is less about games and more about people being absolute fuck-ups when it comes to relationships. Never has I seen such a messed up love polygon before.
On a side note, this series needs a game so we can get a joke harem ending with Amano getting everyone, even Uehara.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. It is just incredible how our cast of five have fallen into so many misunderstandings. And even with how cliche those misunderstandings are the show does a good job selling the hilarity of the situation. Aguri and Uehara could have sat down and talked like a regular couple and sorted a lot of this mess out, but of course we can't have that. Let's just have Amano tell Chiaki about how impeccable a girlfriend Aguri is, without actually specifying whose girlfriend she is. Maybe even add some yaoi to the mix, because the goddamn lords of chaos aren't full yet.
As always, I adored the visual wit of the show. Having Tasuku play at the arcade, then have the "Insert coin here" message pop up was a stroke of genius.
I literally fell out of my chair while listening to Amano explain to Aguri what he told to Chiaki, and how blissfully unaware both of them were.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. With the rates things are going now, this show is heading towards a trainwreck of love.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash....well, you didn't need that "They will" note to figure out what would happen. Though I'd say there were still unexpected elements there.
By the way, Aguri wasn't actually saying the Konami Code. She was actually saying a Spell of Restoration (Spell of Resurrection in Japanese), a reference to the password system used in the first two Dragon Quest games. I guess they changed the reference to one that's more recognisable to a western audience, though they sacrificed part of the joke in the process. :x
I think this is the first anime where a character in the anime made a shipping chart of its own Love Dodecahedron
Nah Heavens Lost Property did it, Ikaros straight up drew on in the show's opening.
Episode 6: HOLY SHIT, THIS SHOW. Goodbye, my sides. You will be missed.
Like goddamn every single significant character got wrapped up in their own misunderstandings and of course they play mind chess instead of talking it out like reasonable people
And still that was one amazing buildup to the friend request which turns into a confession, which gets a freaking YES! SURPRISE HAPPY END. And with that happening, who the eff knows what will happen with the others. This is the most intense thing I've seen all week, wow. Next episode, stat.
On a less giddy note, I actually really liked the advice Uehara, Aguri and Misumi dispensed for their respective bumbling idiot.
Oh, and the Capcom helicopter joke. Incredible.
My sides have never been blown out so hard.
.....EDIT: YO, THE ENTIRE SEASON WAS BUILDING UP TO THE VERY FIRST SCENE FROM EPISODE 1. OH MY GOD!!!!!!

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.In other words, everything thus far has been prologue.
Will Amano and Tendou really end up going out? What will Aguri, Uehara and Chiaki do about the perceived infidelity? Will we even find out next episode or will we go off on a tangent again?!
One little aspect of this series that I really love is how they kind of reverse the Funny Background Event with all the side characters reacting to their insanity. These characters are so lost in their own little world.

One word to describe this show: GLORIOUS! It's one of those shows where the misunderstandings created are such a blast to behold.
As funny as the cast's lack of social skills are, I'm getting kind of tired of it. 2 or 3 episodes of it are fine. An entire season gets somewhat tiresome.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.Episode 7:
Was a bit worried that the show was going to find a way to backpedal out of their relationship, so huge props to Aguri for giving Amano a good pep talk, and Amano himself for not being a ragequitter. He manned up and asked Tendou out on a date! Way to go.
And look at that, Tendou and Amano are so cute together! They're bouncing off each other better here than in their last not-date, probably because they're a bit less awkward since they're technically going out. Another nice thing is that Amano actually complimented Tendou in a swimsuit, instead of wimping out or overloading or whatever. And also that he had the brains to tell Chiaki that she shouldn't be clinging to him. He actually dodge a misunderstanding in this pileup, how cool is that?
Point is, Tendou likes how Amano gives it his all to have fun, while Amano likes how Tendou has fun giving it her all. Not to mention their obvious common interest. It works.
Somehow Chiaki is still hovering around as Amano's pseudo-love interest, though. Not sure if I'd like her stirring things up once Amano finds out she's Mono, or Nobe. Hmmm.
Poor Uehara. Everyone thinks he's cheating. They really need to iron that misunderstanding out. Are he and Aguri still even talking?

Chiaki thinks that Amano and Takano aren't really dating so that makes sense.
I have a feeling that Uehara is going to be the one to reveal that they're online friends. Probably to get back at Amano for "cheating" with Aguri behind his back.

Whatever it is, Uehara better do something quick. By the way, you might have mixed up this show and Tsurezure Children.
Forgot to mention how much I adored the gaming references this episode. Geek humor done right.

The premise seems pretty standard at first - a high school boy who is rather unremarkable is suddenly approached by a really popular, good-looking girl. The girl reveals that she's a massive gamer and invites him to join the school's game club. However, it goes different places from there, as the boy turns down the offer to join the club, and the relationships between everyone is a bit more complex than a straight-up harem. The gaming humor cuts a little deeper than usual, like a fighting game segment going over a list of rookie mistakes like overreliance on projectiles, and one girl who argues that moe characters are ruining games. It has a tone problem at times but otherwise I'm having way more fun with this than I expected.
What's everyone else think of it so far?
