@Demongod: Umm, dude, that doesn't address what he means.

There IS less experimentation with anime. You do have to admit that modern anime doesn't have same sort of weird shit as old anime did and there is distinct difference you can tell.

Also, I'd really hope that in the future you don't complain about other people being dismissive while being dismissive of others [lol]

@Memers: When people say they like older stuff of any media, it doesn't necessarily mean they think old stuff is better, it usually means they liked something about the old stuff that was lost in modern era. That applies to pretty much everything, books, comics, video games, all forms of entertainment have changed over the years and its completely sensible to have taste for works from certain eras because they truly are different in feeling when compared to other eras

@Rynnec: ok, I have to just say this.. That is one of most annoying methods for dismissing opinions I see in internet "He doesn't like this fan favourite so his taste is bad!"

Plus there's a difference between not liking something and not recognizing its quality. You can dislike something coz it doesn't meet your tastes but be fully cognizant of how good it is.

Plus ya know, Appeal to Popularity. Something being popular doesn't make it good. Look at the Bayformers.

I don't even watch that much anime and yet I find the older stuff more appealing. Modern anime is definitely lacking in certain areas.

Also, continuing to complain about Bennett will just get this thread locked. It's barely 3 pages long, so a mod can easily binge the entire thing in 20 minutes and deem it unsalvageable.

Also saying that nothing has changed in 20 years is in so many ways wrong [lol] I mean, popular art styles has changed, creators involved in industry have changed(not everyone is immortal who work on their job until they are forced to retire), cost cutting methods have changed, culture has changed, technology has changed, popular genres have changed, etc. All of those can affect reasons why you would like feeling of works from particular period.

^Huh. Didn't realize this thread is just month old. People have been complaining about the guy each time he makes video in channel awesome thread for so long I didn't notice that :D

Anyway, on topic, I like his willingness to cover weird shit no one talks about. Like, I'll take Bennet talking about weird stuff (good or bad) over one more reviewer reviewing Attack on Titan or One Punch Man or whatever anime is popular at the time or any other stuff that's been reviewed by billions.

Like, so what he doesn't review modern anime. Millions of people already do that.

There's shit he's covered now one ever really talked about (And you can often tell by just googling those titles), and I love him for it. And yeah, I like that he often voices my own problem with some of the otherwise more popular anime.

Plus Gabe is hilarious.

People complain about everyone making videos on the CA thread. Ditto on Doug's thread. o_O Or the DBZA thread. "The show that's been doing a thing I don't like for 5 years now hasn't done a 180 and is still doing that thing I don't like!"

Disregarding that strawman argument, I've never watched Bennett too much but I do like seeing him tackle weird and unusual anime if only for the sheer amount of weirdness it can bring for him to bounce off of. Which one was it with the guy who had grenades tied to his crotch or something?

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

Nah, I'd be freaked out because "holy shit one of my nightmare paranoid scenarios actually happened" [lol]

I lack that normal "nothing bad can happen to me, those type of horrible things happen only in fiction and to other people!" way of thinking, so I go through in my head long list of unlikely but horrible things I'm afraid could happen even if they are equivalent of meteor hitting my house.

(note: yes, the list does include meteor hitting my house. Most of the list is filled with social life ruining crap rather than things killing me though)

That said, I have to say I'm surprisingly well adjusted considering how much stress & pressure that way of thinking causes me tongue

Suave Time is the funniest time on this show. waii

I Dream of Mimi doesn't seem that bad, though the art style is kinda weird. What's with those heads in 3/4 perspective? :S

Did Suave say that the next review is going to be Dragon Ball related? surprised

It's the part of a computer (or phone or tablet or basically anything with a computer in it) that all the other parts connect to and what lets them work together.

Spooky Mask:

This is a really reductive statement, and while I *think* I know where you're coming from with it, I'd be interested to see you actually explain and justify it rather than simply treat it as fact and let it lie.

Anyway, on-topic: I'm kind of curious as to what folks here each get out of Bennett's work and what draws them to it, because I feel like video reviews, particularly those focused on niche subject matter and those with a riffy edge, kind of work on different levels for different people.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
