Wonder what broken SNK Boss Arc Sys will come up with for the game.
Maybe Beerus has infinite Super Meter, can move as fast as Score attack Yosuke Hanamura on the screen, and his supers are instant kills unless blocked.
Watch SymphogearMerged Zamasu is practically made to be an SNK Boss. Tons of projectiles, a grandiose faux-regal appearance, ridiculous supermoves that take up full screen, and a Turns Red bit that completely changes the way you have to fight him.
Funnily, the first thing I thought of when I saw him do stuff was Arcsys.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I know it's a pipe dream but I'm still hoping Nappa makes it in. I need my memes.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughMaybe Beerus has infinite Super Meter, can move as fast as Score attack Yosuke Hanamura on the screen, and his supers are instant kills unless blocked.
Just to add insult to injury, he makes it clear before the fight starts that he's using 30% of his power.
It's possible some characters will get boss modes, with some stronger than others. Like, Unlimited/Boss Freeza is just him in Golden Freeza mode with a few new moves, whereas Boss Beerus is game breakingly overpowered in multiple ways.
Also, I know it likely can't happen because of potential licensing issues, but i'm sad that turning into Golden Freeza doesn't override the BGM with F by Maximum the Hormone.

A corpse should be left well enough alone...If that happens, then Broly needs "10's" by Pantera.

I think Whis should be the Bonus Boss.
It's been 3000 years…Well, for non-Super 'slightly minor' villains... I wonder what would be the chances for Ginyu and some of his squad members? Recoome maybe? (But then again, his original VA died. Has there been a replacement?)
IIRC, I think one of Ginyu's squadmates has some sort of ZA WARUDO mechanic, but ended up not being effective. Wonder if ASW can tweak that...
If any of the Ginyu members make it, it'll likely just be Ginyu himself. I wouldn't put him as likely, either.
We've already got:
- Goku(SS)
- Vegeta(SS)
- Gohan(SS)
- Cell
- Buu
- Freeza
We're likely to get:
- Piccollo
- Krillin
- Beerus
- Gotenks
- Hit
- Goku(SSG/Blue)
Zamasu and Goku Black might be too recent to make it in. Even so, that's twelve characters already. For a first entry fighting game that isn't 100% just for fan-service, that's already a lot.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireIf the game's modes are standard, we're likely to get upwards of 24 characters.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. For reference, Guilty Gear Xrd, the first version of their latest installment in their flagship series, started with thirteen characters. Blaz Blue started with twelve. Persona 4 Arena had ten starting out. Don't expect much more than that.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI am wondering if Bandai Namco funding them + the popularity of the franchise means we'll see more characters on launch then is standard for ASW.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...It is also 3v3 based. So I think minimum is 16-20.
And if the demo is any indication, they have less special moves than an average ASW character.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Well it is supposed to be simpler.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.It serves several purposes of simplifying the characters, putting more value into assist moves, and saving time and money for the animation team.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...That and DBZ characters have never had elaborate, deep move sets. Most have maybe one or two signature ki blasts.
To be fair, I think the fact that Persona 4: Arena was still using hand drawn sprites was what contributed to that. Those are still quite time consuming to create, from what I understand. One of the reasons people were bashing Street Fighter III at launch was that it only had 12 playable fighters, 5 of whom were already Head Swaps, while Tekken 3 easily had twice that.

One or two ki moves that were left unnamed until the games came along. Heat Dome Attack is an apt example.
Upon reflection, I believe the following will be close to the roster we get:
- Goku(SS)
- Vegeta(SS)
- Gohan(SS)
- Cell
- Buu
- Freeza
- Trunks(SS)
- Piccollo
- Krillin
- Tien
- Yamcha
- Gotenks(SS)
- DLCGoku(God)
- DLCBeerus
- DLCWhis
- DLCFrost
- DLCHit

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireWith the way ASW does its 3D models for Xrd in this game, it's basically a similar amount of work as they'd have for a 2D sprite based game. That said, as mentioned before, the movesets in this game are smaller than your typical ASW game so it might add the benefit of having to work less on one character.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughAdmittedly, Tien and Yamcha on my list are placeholders. You could replace them with someone like Super Buu or Nappa or somebody.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinairePersona 4 Arena Ultimax also used different meters with their normal forms vs shadow selves. Normal had a Combo Breaker meter while the shadows had a Super Mode meter.
I would fully expect them to do that here for various forms of the same character.
That's true. They might opt to have say, Goku, as a non-Super Saiyan, and he gets a different level three super as a result, but everything else sticks.

Really chances are that Kale's move set is pretty much gonna be a reskin of Broly's.
