Fixed the title, as the system won't work with quote marks.
Anyways, opened. Yep, looks YMMV to me.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDefinitely move it to YMMV.
It's an Audience Reaction.
Check out my fanfiction! We have a dedicated thread in Long Term Projects for discussing whether tropes should be made YMMV. Wouldn't this be better handled there?
In any case, I support the change.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. What thread are you talking about? I'm interested.

Oh gosh, I may have been thinking of the Trivia thread. [[blush]] Sorry.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. There used to be one for YMMV as well; it was decided there that few enough articles were being evaluated that they could go through TRS now.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Clock is set.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report+1 for making All There Is To Know About The Crying Game a YMMV item.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"for YMMV-ification.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyfor YMMV-ification.
Inane motivational quote goes herefor YMMV.
Not really sure why it wasn't YMMV in the first place anyway. It Was His Sled is YMMV, and this is pretty much the Logical Extreme of that, so I don't know why this was made a standard trope.
Inane motivational quote goes hereConsensus is in favour of flagging this as YMMV.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOkay, added to the audience reactions index. Now let's get to moving wicks.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportGiven that there's a very subjective difference between this trope and It Was His Sled, do we really need to have two of them? I mean, the fact that Rosebud was the name of the sled is the only thing a lot of people know about Citizen Kane anymore.
These things are not the same at all.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere's a difference in degree, things that fall under this particular trope are almost memetic in their infamy and outpace knowledge of the original work itself.
It's been moved to YMMV so shouldn't this thread be closed?
We still need to move some wicks, I believe.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Locking per New Year Purge.

So this trope really seems like it should be a YMMV trope. Similar tropes such as It Was His Sled are, and it's an inherently subjective topic since it's a reception-based trope (an aspect of a work that's not its official premise that nevertheless comes to dominate its reputation later). I've seen a lot of tropers move this to the YMMV subpages of works and had to move it back since it's not officially labeled YMMV, and I'm honestly not surprised at their confusion.
I looked at the discussion page and there's a thread from two years ago where someone points this out. They have a response telling them to go to the Trope Repair Shop but it seems nothing came of it — or if someone changed it and then changed it back, there's nothing on that either. So I decided to take care of this myself. Can we do something about this now, or does anyone have any good reasons for why they don't think it belongs in YMMV?
