I believe this trope should really be marked as YMMV, making my proposal rather self-evident.

Specifically, it's one of the Memetic Mutation tropes, so much like Memetic Badass it describes the way one of a character's specific attributes is perceived within the fandom of the work (or outside, given that we're talking memes here). Basically all the examples seem to treat their examples this way, being some permutation of "Character is known for his/her hair". Aside from being pretty close to a Zero Context Example, by whom exactly? Within their work, or outside of it? Only a handful of examples even mention in-universe information like a Lampshade Hanging.

Why it's not YMMV is beyond me. Just took a glance at some examples, and they do fit the YMMV bill.

Opened.

Just in case:

When you launch a trope from TLP, how do you make it a "YMMV" item (i.e with that banner on top)?

Just add it to the YMMV index. (YMMV.Home Page)

Bump. Any other thoughts? If there are no objections, I think it would be reasonable to attach a single-prop crowner to this thread given how simple the solution is (make it YMMV).

It's YMMV any way I can figure it. At its most objective, it's a list of examples where you can demonstrate a memetic quality, but it's still about audience reactions.

I have no objections to a single prop to make ymmv, I'll second that.

However, on a different note, I think a wick check would be useful while it's here. Looking through the examples, I see a few too many zce's. "x characters hair" is not a proper example by itself.

Make it YMMV, I say.

Alright, I've added it to the Audience Reactions index. Is there anything else to do here?

Move the wicks to the YMMV subpage of the works they're in?

Crowner looks unanimous in favor of making this YMMV. Calling.

Looks like any applicable wicks have been moved now. Had to remove a zero-context one while going through, and noted an invoked example (reactions were from within the show).

Considering this done.
