First off, reading that, I'll literally imagining every worker in SOL (....HAAAA HA HA HA HA!!!!) having a Robot head.tongue

Secondly, I suppose it's possible, but we'll have to wait and see.

I'm more interested in whether or not we'll have another Signer type situation since we see characters turning into light in the OP as well as a giant bird. I'm also curious as to why Yuusaku is associated with the color green in the OP when he's currently tied to Ignis who is the purple AI and not the green one from episode one.

Yusaku as Playmaker does wear quite a bit of green.

VRAINS' page says ARC-V is as dark as the original manga. I dunno if I agree with it or not but it feels like a different kind of darkness than the manga had; while the latter was horror-themed and had a lot of body horror, blood, and monsters with tons of eyes and stuff Arc-V deals with war.

I've only read the manga and watched a little of Arc-V so I can't say for sure, though. Can anyone who's seen both comment? (I'm also unsure if i should delete or alter the Vrains example; it reads

"Darker and Edgier: While ARC-V is just as dark as the original manga, its main themes are, ironically, happiness and entertainment. VRAINS makes it clear that it's at least darker than ZEXAL and has the potential to become even darker than ARC-V. It's also worth mentioning that Yusaku is the first main character in the franchise who started out as a Jerkass Anti-Hero instead of a Hot-Blooded Idiot Hero or an All-Loving Hero and treats Dueling as weapons for his quest of Revenge."

[up][up] I didn't watch much of Arc V, but it's "darkness" feels pretty overstated to me tbh.

Let's see, Arc-V had Academia go all Fuison Nazi on the Heartland, turning everyone into cards and Heartland to rubble, the cast basically became child soldiers, the Synchro dimension was basically 5d's class-conflict taken up to eleven, and then some. Yuya's Berserk mode was quite freaky, the bracelet girls were all brainwashed through an insect controlling their brains, and proceeded to kick their would-be rescuers asses, except for Berserk Yuya, who brought out Raging Dragon, which melted the freaking floor. Oh, and we find out Yuya was never actually born to his parents and was magically inserted into their lives by a being who ended up nearly destroying the world, and is Yuya's previous life, which results in him getting taken over and turned into some gargolye-looking freak who attempts to do so again.

Overall, I say it was fairly dark, but I'll let you guys decide how it fares up against the original manga, which I don't remember all that well.

Arc-V was comparable to Madoka for a reason, but it wasn't handled very well for half of the show.

As for VRAINS, there isn't enough material to decide its tone, but it doesn't seems that it will be a deconstructor like Arc-V

The original manga had stuff like Kaiba hiring a chainsaw-wielding serial child killer and building a huge theme park of death just to kill Yugi and co., Mokuba poisoning Joey and threatening to cut Yugi's fingers off with a knife, Marik stirring up each and every suicidal thought Arkana/Pandora had so the moment he woke up he'd go kill himself, Yami Marik skinning his father alive, Pegasus killing Bandit Keith by turning his hand into a gun and forcing him to shoot himself, Yami Bakura growing a Duel Disk out of his arm, tons of blood, creepy-lookin' monsters, plus the Penalty Games.

Compared to that the Toei anime was about as clean as the Duel Monsters anime, though both of those were definitely freaky at times. Even the dub's Shadow Realm was a place where monsters would feast on your soul and shred it to pieces, rendering you Deader than Dead.

There is a difference between being dark and being a deconstructor. This series has always been dark. Arc-V tried to be the latter.

[up] That's true, but the page specifically said 'as dark as the original manga' without the deconstruction bit.

Yeah it really looks like VRAINS is taking hints from Persona 5, what with the emphasis on mental damage / mental shutdowns. And some Persona 2, possibly, what with the way Hanoi seems to work.

Maybe Revolver and Joker will have some similar attributes. Like, for example, maybe Shoichi's younger brother is actually the current Revolver, and wants revenge in turn on Yusaku.

Episode 8.

Well, it served their purposes, but Revolver kinda killed the conflict between Yusaku / Playmaker and Zaizen. That being said, we're probably gonna learn a lot about our hero in this next few eps, cause if there was ever a time for some flashbacks, it's now.

Haven't the new episode yet but read the next summaries and surprisingly it seems like Yusaku vs Revolver is going to be 4-episodes long.

[up]x2

I really doubt that. Two separate duels seems more likely than a four episode long one. Especially considering episode 10's title.

[up][up]Unless they immediately start the rematch, episodes 11 and 12 have nonsense titles, since it's their boss monsters. I just don't see that happening.

Episode 10's title just sounds like Revolver has a card that specifically counters Cyberse or we're getting a flashback about why Cyberse needs to be destroyed.

Ep 10's summary says Yusaku is being overwhelmed by Revolver's Skill though.

[up]Which I'm betting is Storm Access without an LP requirement.

Caught up. Man, they didn't take long to make the heroine a Damsel in Distress huh.

[up] Considering he controlled the data storm last episode, that would make sense.

So there are two options on how that would go: either Revolver gets more than one card from his Storm Access, or he just goes right for the card, gets something powerful and Yusaku ends up clinging to life after that.

Aren't Skills character specific though? I don't think Revolver has Storm Access. We know from this episode that he can control the Data Storms though so who says he even needs to use a skill to get a new card?
