Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains

So, the latest episode: Yep, another recap, this time framed as Kusanagi making a report (or his will, just in case), not much to say, but the whole Tower of Hanoi sounds interesting.

Im watching episode 4 of Vrains now and the stilted anmation isnt what's bothering me, its the damn lip flaps. they're terrible in some places!

That might be due to the earlier director. I'm not sure.

We know they changed things up around episode 10 or so.

Ghost Girl got herself in trouble it seems.

More importantly, we got to see the LINK VRAINS version of the alligator in the sewers.

So, Episode 31 RIP, Ghost Girl, and now it's time to raid a Tower.

Do we know that she's unquestionably dead, or is she only mostly dead? It's not really 100% clear. Whatever the case, it looks like shit is about to get real.

My guess? She's like an Another.

Her data was used to trigger/finish the Tower of Hanoi and unlike Baira, Faust, and Genome we haven't seen her body afterwards. Combine that with the show playing things out like a death scene and I think it's safe to say she's dead.

If ARC-V taught me anything, Death Is Cheap. She definitely won't be back until Hanoi is stopped though...

How about we know what Trap Card that was that destroyed all her monsters? That'd be nice. All we saw was some crazy light. It should follow the rules.

She died trying to warn Yusaku about that card, so it's 100% sure we'll see it some later day.

Yeah. It's pretty much a Chekovs Gun. We will learn what it is at some point.

At face value, it looked like Mirror Force, but it might be more than that.

So the new episode isn't up anywhere today (or at least not at the places I usually check).

I thought for a moment that there wouldn't be one, but I checked dates and December 20 is supposed to air an episode. In fact, it already has a description on the wiki it seems.

Guess the holidays are just slowing down the subbing.

Apparently, CR had some technical issues and the episode would come out later. Hope it isn't something too frequent.

Security guy tried to snake his way into the Hanoi Ranks and got put down. Tower of Hanoi is going to wipe out all AI if its completed, causing mass destruction. Blue Angel, laymaker, and Go all decide to take on Hanoi. and Blue Angel runs into Spectre

Said simply, Hanoi plans to use the tower to send the world to the stone age if it means killing Ai, these guys are even crazier than we thought.

By the way, Specter crushed some of Kitamura's data. Do you think it'll mean something if this whole thing is reversible.

This would be a huge statement on how dangerous Ai is if Revolver hadn't already declared himself as anti-internet before.

Just because he'd probably go that far even if Ai wasn't dangerous doesn't mean he's wrong. But still, what the hell is Ai capable of if Revolver is willing to wipe out the planet's entire online network just to kill him?

Edit: Also, I'm once again wondering if Aoi is being set up for a fall here. I wish that I didn't always have to expect her to lose because she's a girl and all, but often, that's the only reason they need to worf their female characters in Yugioh. She's had a pretty good run so far (she's only lost to the hero himself, which is pretty good) but I always get the feeling they're gonna start driving out buses to toss her under.

If Konami has any control over the anime, it's not happening. Trickstar is basically the only popular new deck they've introduced since the show started running. There are maybe one or two that people are actually using other than it. But aside from speculation re: Blackwings in 5D's, that's a huge question-mark.

Oh. If that's the case she might do well here. Makes me wonder if they deliberately gave her Trickstar because they knew Konami would want to promote it. If that's the case, she should fair well against the normal fate of females duelists in Yugioh.

Eh, I think Konami gave her Trickstar because they tailored it to suit her, or vice versa. If they wanted to gave main characters IRL powerful decks, well, just look at past protagonists. Only Yusei's and Crow's deck was meta, while everyone else weren't that popular competitively. In fact, most competitive decks are rarely from the anime. The closest an anime deck got to being competitive before VRAINS was a good portion of Yusei's cards being used in most Synchro decks around 5Ds, Blackwings, and the Pendulum Magician deck. And the specific cards used in that deck were never used by Yuya. Heck, Judai's HERO deck is considered to be pretty crappy. So Aoi's Trickstar being meta is more of a coincidence. That, and MR 4 hampered a good amount of decks, as well as previous meta decks getting hit by the banlist.

And to clarify, while some archetypes like Blue-Eyes and Cyber Dragons did see some revelavance in the meta, that was from support released like 2 series later, so I wouldn't count those as being meta anime decks.

reminder that gilag's cards (fire & ice hand alongside 106) were meta as sin yet he was shafted the hardest out of all barians

I feel like mentiong that the Serious Business level of this game, has gotten to the point where at least two wars were waged using the card game in lieu of weapons. One of them being an interdenominational war and the other being the War of the Roses. At this point I have to wonder if VRAINS will follow suit with this or go a different direction with it (considering the more personal motive of Yusaku among other factors that veer closer to realism)
