Was going to suggest a piece of fanart
(randomly starring Hatsune Miku) I like, but it's a little small. Can maybe be cropped, but it's not particularly detailed.

I think 1 is okay; just in 2 the mountain is too big. 2 and 4 are okay. 5 to me looks too much like a ruler's secluded pleasure palace rather than communicating the idea of ruling over the people. 6 similarly has too much in the right foreground and not enough emphasis on the castle; it communicates the idea of "Eastern RPG-style fantasy setting" rather than "monarchical good guy realm". The Miku picture is quite pretty, but I think it doesn't have quite the right proportions.

I am starting to think the picture is no good if there are not people in it. It's not enough to just show a castle on a hill: we need to show the connection between the land, the monarch, and the people. I'm thinking that some kind of royal entry into a city with the monarch on horseback and lots of cheering burghers might be the right direction 1
