Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (spoilers)

This thread is meant to provide a place to freely discuss the new Danganronpa game, since trying to talk about the game in the series main thread without spoiling others could quickly become unworkable. Obviously, read at your own risk. I'll come back here when English version comes out months later.

No longer interested in this game based off what I've seen of the leaks.

Also baffled and disappointed in Spike Chunsoft for letting so much of the game's files stay on the demo.

People should know not to do that by now.

We'll see what the game brings, but I inexplicably feel really annoyed with the whole Kaede thing. I can't really quantify why it makes me angry, but it does. If the game is able to pull it off, I'll be OK with it, but if it's just for the shock value I won't be happy. Then again, if any series can make shock value work, it's Danganronpa. I'm trying to do my best Naegi impression and hold on to Hope.

If the reports about the Mastermind are true, however, I find that more encouraging. From what I've read it's a much better idea for The Dog Was the Mastermind than Junko could ever hope to be.

The Kaede thing is definitely annoying but I applaud it for defying expectations and not making Kiibo the actual protagonist.

Again, I can't really but my finger on why that pisses me off. Maybe it's that I kind of see the protagonist slot as something kind of sacred, in a way.

I also just read another (unconfirmed) spoiler that says Kaede has a twin sister and she gets executed while the real Kaede lives. So while I'm not sure if I buy it, there's that.

That wouldn't make me happy if true, as it would be a cop-out of the highest degree. Of course it wouldn't be the first time DR has had such a cop-out but still.

I liked it because it causes a neat parallel to Junko and Mukuro, only on the protagonist side.

The only way I'd find it cool is if there is adequate foreshadowing and the real Kaede is brought in to testify at the final trial, which would be awesome

On an unrelated note I'd just like to take this moment to say: HA! I freaking called it! I knew that previous DR characters would show up!

One day weird character design will live these games.

I be disappoint in myself. Alas I could not resist temptation & have such spoiled myself. Now I don't know everything but fuck man I know a lot of shit damn it.

I will say one thing I be a little sad that the detective is apparently the true protag. Even got a little pissed when I read that his ability as a detective lies mostly in his luck. Like seriously again with being lucky, they couldn't make him at the very least genuinely good at his talent cause if he's just lucky then he's not really a detective.

Admittedly, I already thought Saihara was boring, but now I just wanna put his head on a skewer. At least Gonta wasn't yet another Big Guy victim...

Also, has anyone else seen those sprites of Korekiyo?

As far as the odd designs go... Apparently one of the alternate universe DR 2 Killing Games (yeah I don't know) had Teruteru be one of only two male survivors along with Hajime and that same universe had Mikan and Peko as the only female victims.

I'm waiting to see how Saihara does before judging him. Decoy Protagonist setups really get on my nerves for some reason. Probably because I always feel a special attachment to protagonists.

I'm pretty satisfied with the female survivors even if I wanted a few others to live.

Add in Kaede and I'd be OK with the survivor lineup. Shuichi/Kiibo/Maki/Yumeno is a decent lineup, and would be pretty great if Kaede and/or Rantarou were included.

Rantarou being the Ultimate Survivor is neat, but it makes me wonder what his title he got into the Ultimates program on, because he apparently got his title as the Ultimate Survivor after living through previous killing games, which leads me to believe he got into the system under a different talent and was granted the title of Ultimate Survivor in the same way where Makoto was granted the title of Ultimate Hope after surviving the killing game and defeating Junko. Maybe Rantarou was originally an Ultimate Lucky Student too?

Kaede's death annoys me more than most decoy protagonist situations because I would have liked to have a female protagonist. Maybe next time.

Me too honestly. I'm a guy but was looking forward to Kaede just because it'd spice things up a little. Nope, back to another dude it is.

A guy who's design is lowkey & not very attention-grabbing, submissive & is not actually very skilled at his talent with luck being what got him the title. Damn what a tease, a character with a more distinct look, who's assertive & is genuinely skilled. How sad.

This plot is looking to be really something. Whether it's a good or bad something remains to be seen

After reading some more spoilers, I'm getting more and more okay with Kaede's situation. Specifically, she's a reverse Junko. Apparently she not only builds Kiibo but she sacrifices herself so that the true culprit can investigate in her stead and protect the others. She's basically the Big Good.

Yeah, I went from being upset at Kaede's situation to being actually pretty OK with it, if not happy, after it's revealed that she pulled off a Thanatos Gambit so that she and Rantarou could play the long game and take down the Mastermind. In a way, Shuichi might be the protagonist, but she (and Rantarou too, maybe) are the real heroes of V3
