Yeah, I can see why it should be a Useful Note instead of a Creator page. Opening.

He can still be indexed under Authors. I'm pretty sure we have at least one other case where a Useful Notes page is listed under Authors. ... Found it. UsefulNotes.Nostradamus.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. The page can be linked on Authors no matter what name space it's in. Moving it to Useful Notes and correcting the listing on the "authors" page seems like a good way to go.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.There's an existing redirect at UsefulNotes.Julius Caesar. I thought for a moment that someone might have merged two existing pages, but the history for the redirect doesn't show any previous page there. So I think that merely means that someone else (Lord Gro, as it happens) was thinking along the same lines.
We should probably leave this for the standard three days, to see if anyone has a differing opinion, but after that, unless someone has raised an objection, I'd say go for it. Just make sure you clean up the other redirect at Creator.Julius Caesar.
There are a lot of wicks and inbounds, so we'll have to keep the existing page as a redirect, but that's standard, and harmless.

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Cool, thanks! I was wondering what the next step was. If I don't hear any dissenting opinions by Saturday, I'll go ahead and do the move-and-redirect, and I'll put a comment in the pages pointing to this discussion. Thanks!
Didn't get around to it on Saturday, but just did it now. The content is at UsefulNotes/JuliusCaesar, and Creator/JuliusCaesar and Creator/GaiusJuliusCaesar both redirect there now.
Thanks much for the help!
Haha, so I saw on "Recent Edits" that we had a Creator.Gaius Julius Caesar page and my first thought was "why in god's name is that not a Useful Notes?" Lo and behold, that edit was redirecting the page to the UN version.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.
I, um, fixed all the indexes. We really should add something about indexes to How To Move A Page. They don't work with redirects, so when I move a page, I always open all the indexes in separate tabs before starting the move. If you do it afterwards, you almost have to temporarily break the redirect so you can find them—which is what I did in this case. The only other option is to go through all the wicks which might be indexes one at a time to see.
Other than that, I think we may be done here. We could fix all of the remaining wicks, but for a simple namespace move, where the old namespace is still a reasonable target, we don't always bother.
(I know I have stuff I'd rather be doing...)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Technically, that page instructs us to change all wicks before turning the old page into a redirect. We've just gotten used to taking shortcuts.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Yeah, plus it's crazy to try to maintain two copies of the same page and keep them in sync for the for the whole time (in some cases, months or years) it takes before the wicks actually get fixed. o_O
I suspect that part may have been written long ago, when the wiki was much smaller....
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. My apologies about the indexes! I hadn't known or I would've done it. Yeah, I don't think it's reasonable to say "all wicks need to be changed" (and the discussion had said it's okay to just let the redirects do it), but I certainly could've/would've done the indexes. So thanks for doing it, Xtifr! I'll do that next time.
~Narsil and everybody else: There are still a number of wicks to move.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm not sure every wick should be "fixed." Any which refer to Julius as an author, rather than as a leader and politician, should probably be left as is.
That said...I haven't found any which shouldn't be fixed yet....
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Okay, I did indeed find a handful which were about JC-the-writer, so I left those referring to the Creator/ page. But all the others have been fixed, so I think we can call this one done.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Noted the move in the discussion tab and moved the discussion page.
Now we can call this done.

Caesar did do some writing—his Commentaries On The Gallic War gets its own page—but really, the reason he's on TV Tropes isn't because of his writing, it's because of his historical importance. So IMO this page should be changed to UsefulNotes/JuliusCaesar, to go along with his great-nephew Augustus.
I think it should just be "Julius Caesar", not "Gaius Julius Caesar"—we tend to go with the short name people recognize, as with Caligula (not "Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus").
