Karion looks pretty good! The only section I'd ask you to revise before I can formally accept him is the Backstory. It's a little sparse and, while there's no set length for that section, it's left me with a couple questions about Karion. Did the Empire blow up his home solely to save him? If that's the case, it doesn't particularly seem in-character for the Empire to blow up a house on some Outer Rim world solely to get some PR. Accidents like that happen all over the galaxy so the Empire wouldn't necessarily get any media/PR attention from just one house on one planet in a region where not a lot of people care about. The Empire are dicks but their dickishness typically has some purpose. So, unless I'm misreading something, I'm going to ask you to elaborate a bit more about the explosion to provide some context. Also, some more details about how he met up with the Rebellion and what about Trouble Squad appealed to him specifically.

Alright - that looks good! I'll add you to the list of active characters on the first post of this thread. Feel free to begin posting in the main thread. The team just finished up their briefing so you can easily Hand Wave your character having been there the whole time. Trouble Squad is currently trying to pick out a ship.

Instead of that, may I just have Karion arrive there, having been delayed? It wouldn't be super out-of-place for him to simply have read a shortened version of the mission briefing, would it?

I mean, the briefing was pretty short so I think it'd probably make more sense to be with the rest of the team during it. Unless you have a particular reason why he might have missed it.

Okay, here's a preliminary signup. It might need some tweaking but here it is.

  • Name: Kul Moko
  • Appearance: Kul Moko is tall, even for a Herglic. He has rubbery dark blue skin with lighter blue mottling all over. His eyes are dark. He generally wears the standard Rebel vest, fitted to his size of course, with a strap across his shoulder that helps to hold the medical backpack, where he stores his things. He keeps a blaster pistol holster on his right hip.
  • Species, Age, and Gender: Male Herglic, equivalent of 30s or 40s.
  • Equipment:
    • Though Kul is more comfortable working in a medbay, he typically carries equipment he can use in the field as well. Kul uses a standard field medpac that contains bacta (applied either by spray, patch, or injection), a medisensor that can detect one's life support signs, stim-shots, antiseptics, coagulants, and other such medicines. Kul also carries two "bacta bombs", which can be used in an emergency combat situation, though they are not as effective and more difficult to acquire.
    • Kul is not as skilled in combat as the other members of Trouble Squad, though he does carry a blaster pistol for self defense and the defense of his patients.
    • Kul also carries around a datapad which he uses to keep medical files on hand, but he also uses it to create holographic art when off duty.
  • Abilities/Skills: Kul has extensive knowledge of medicine for a good number of different species. Though his expertise lies with Herglic, obviously. He is a decent shot with a blaster pistol, and he has above-average strength and endurance.
  • Personality: Despite his intimidating exterior, Kul Moko is kind, caring, and sweet to those he works alongside. He has a sensitive heart and takes care to admire the beauty of life and nature. He has an artistic streak and when off duty he can often be found creating art either in his quarters or at his desk. His kindness does not extend to the Empire, however, nor to those who harm those weaker than them. If people he cares about are threatened or put in danger, Kul can fly into a frenzy.
  • Backstory:
    • Kul Moko was born on Giju during the era of the Republic. During his teenaged years, Kul began volunteering at a clinic, helping the sick and wounded. During his tenure at the clinic, Giju was attacked and occupied by the Empire, and his fellow Herglics participated in a failed uprising that led to many injured and dying Herglic pouring into the clinic. Soon afterwards, Giju fell to the Empire.
    • Luckily, one of Kul Moko's childhood friends, Tohna Matreed, managed to help him escape Giju, and the two ended up on the planet Corellia, where a cause was brewing to oust the Empire. Tohna Matreed requested numerous times for Kul Moko to join their Alliance, but Kul refused, wishing to encounter no more bloodshed, and having been convinced that the attempt to fight the Empire was a lost cause.
    • Then a miracle happened. A daring space battle in orbit above the moon of Yavin IV. The destruction of the Galactic Empire's great superweapon, the Death Star. Once a glint in the eyes of the Alliance, victory against the Empire could be achieved. With a newfound fire in his eyes, Kul finally took Tohna's offer, and signed on with the Alliance as a medic.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Kul Moko looks great. I like the detail about Yavin inspiring him to join the Rebellion and how you included a non-combat hobby (art) in his signup. Since max height for a Herglic is seven foot two inches, I'll assume he's around seven feet?

I'll add him to the accepted character list now and you can begin posting in the main thread. Fortunately, the team is just getting acquainted with the ship now so you can just say that Kul was off in the background during the briefing this whole time.

Name – Gulch Yoxba

Appearance – Pretty much your standard Ugnaught. Short stature, white hair, slightly upturned nose, and thick jowls. Like many members of his species, he lacks tusks. Dresses in sturdy work clothing, and has a utility belt that holds his tools and tripmines,.

Species, Age, and Gender – Ugnaught, 37, Male

Equipment – D7H-TRP "Deathtrap". An intelligent deployable sentry gun that Gulch carries on his back, which uses a Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon as its primary armament. Gulch also carries a DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol, 4 Tripmines, and a field repair kit.

Abilities/Skills – Expert mechanic, accomplished scavenger, and, like most Ugnaughts, can work long and hard, has a high pain tolerance, and can endure a lot of damage. If something needs defending, Gulch is your guy, but he's otherwise inept at combat.

Personality – Gruff, reserved, and quiet, but has a great love for literature, oral tradition, and machinery. Straddles the fine line between courage and recklessness.

Backstory – By the time of the Galactic Empire's blockade of the Anoat sector, few Ugnaught clans remained on Gentes, and slavers still raided their homes. Out of desperation, Gulch and the other Ugnaughts were forced to hide in the swamps and sent out a distress signals, offering supplies to whoever would rescue them. This succeeded, and he spent years taking odd jobs, where he found his natural talent with machines. He eventually drifted to Jakku, where he spent his days as a scavenger, like many others on the planet. The difference between him and the other scavvers being that gulch had equal parts advanced knowledge and the devil's own luck. Using scrap, a protocol droid's AI, and the biggest gun he could find, he built D7H-TRP to protect his home from intruders, which he affectionately named "Deathtrap". Shortly after, he had gained a reputation for his feats, and decided he was better off elsewhere. He bought a ride off the planet, and eventually saw what prompted him to join the alliance: The Empire's Ugnaught slaves. He enlisted right away, and although he was not suited for soldier duty, and also unfit for non-combat mechanic duty, he wasn't going to let anything from stop him from freeing his brethren. He found out about Trouble Squad, and felt that was where both his skills as an engineer and his automated BFG be most appreciated.

Name - D7H-TRP, Deathtrap

Appearance - At first glance, it appears to be a cobbled together mechanical Frankenstein's monster, but one can see quality workmanship on a closer inspection. Looks like a large metal briefcase before deployment. When deployed, The gun is mounted on 4 short folding legs, (resembling those of a spider droid) with the sides of the case being held on either side of the gun.

Species, Age, Gender - Automated gun, (formerly protocol droid), 20-ish, Masculine programming.

Gear - Z-6 Rotary blaster cannon, Shield generator.

Abilities/Skills - Target Tracking, advanced motion detection, combat inhibitor, friend-or-foe differentiation.

Personality - Verbose, intelligent, and an absolute coward until it spots an enemy. That's when the real fun begins. "BURN BURN BURN KILL KILL KILL!"

Backstory - Used to be a protocol droid working for the galactic republic, until he was mostly destroyed in a ship crash on a desert planet. Much to his dismay, he woke up again...This time an immobile turret built by a crazy pig-man, who ended up corrupting his AI to make it more aggressive, and was eventually forced to take a new name: Deathtrap.

Ugnaught meets Engineer from TF 2? I like it. Consider him accepted. Since the battle has only just started and one of our players has never posted, feel free to Hand Wave your character having been on the ship the whole time. Maybe he was tinkering with Deathtrap and that's why he didn't talk with the others. I recommend heading to the main thread and discussion thread if you haven't already and getting familiar with what's happened so far. I can give you a brief PM recap but the discussion thread has a list of NPC's currently helping you and the main thread has a hastily drawn imgur map of the current battlefield. If you've done that already, just say hi and introduce yourself to everybody in the discussion thread. There's also a Skype chat for this game. It's not terribly active or even necessary for you to be a part of to enjoy the game but it is a fun little addition if you want me to add you to it.

Hope the OP didn't lie to me and signups are still open. Not the most well-versed in the universe but I've seen the movies lately and I've been hankering to try this forum RP thing.

  • Name: Alkyn Antilles
  • Appearance: A light-skinned human female. Short, well-built but is consistently clothed in what is reminiscent of jedi robes. This includes an undertunic, outertunic, a sash and an oversized cloak. Unfortunately, this is not fitted and leaves the clothes rather baggy on Alkyn's small frame. Has wiry unkempt black hair down to her shoulders, full of mattes and frayed at the end with the occasional burnt edges. She has a narrow but full face and dark brown eyes. Her left eye is occasionally lazy and there are a few remnants of teenage acne on her jawline. She is generally found smiling and happy in almost any scenario.
  • Race, Age, Gender: Human, 31, female
  • Equipment:
    • "Greg": Alkyn's primary weapon, a heavily modified MGL-1 Grenade launcher. Alkyn has been modifying the weapon for years and it can now fire about any grenade-sized object. She has also increased the size of the grenades it can fire so it can launch her own large grenades (albeit with a reduced range) in addition to the 10 mini-grenades within its clip. This means Greg is slightly heavier than the average MGL-1 launcher and a great deal more expensive and is thus one-of-a-kind.
    • Grenades. She hides these in her baggy robes which have clips and pockets designed to house these in. Alkyn can conceal around 5 larger grenades inconscpicuously. In addition, she has a less stealthy belt that holds about 10 more grenades she can sling around her shoulder. These grenades range the gamut in type. The 5 she carries with her at all times are a thermal detonator, a smoke grenade, a flashbang, an EMP grenade and a fire grenade. Her belt can hold about 5 more of these larger grenades in addition to 5 micro-grenades (though her in-base stash contains many more).
    • "Tommy", a modified TTT-54 grenade launcher. Essentially mini-artillery, Tommy has been fitted with a repulsorlift to help move it. Tommy is not part of Alkyn's regular arsenal since it's too big, but she can bring it out to missions where it's necessary.
    • "Bob". It's a grenade taped to a knife by the handle. Alkyn was encouraged to have some sort of close-range protection since she doesn't have a blaster but Alkyn insists on only ever using explosive weapons. Therefore, Alkyn made Bob. Her advisors realized this was infinitely more dangerous to Alkyn's well-being but Alkyn at that point was too attached to Bob to stop carrying him.
  • Abilities:
    • Explosives Expertise: Alkyn is an explosives expert and a mechanical hobbyist. She customizes her own weapons and works on explosives and grenades of all kinds. Any sorts of explosives and technology needed in explosives work, she is versed in. She's also vaguely familiar with piloting to the extent where she can copilot if need be (though she generally likes manning the guns instead). She can also cook a mean (insert star wars food here).
    • Crack shot: Alkyn is very accurate and skilled at both firing from her grenade launchers and with throwing grenades. This has become a necessity as she both lacks any ability to use non-explosive weaponry such as rifles or pistols (this has confused many of her allies considering her skill with explosive weapons) and lacks hand-to-hand fighting ability. This last fact is particularly alarming as Alkyn attempts to use Bob as a regular knife every time she enters melee combat range. Apart from explosives use, she is completely inept at just about every other form of fighting, though she can operate weapons systems on starships just fine.
  • Personality: Not the sharpest tool in the shed, but very cheerful. Alkyn is generally a fun and happy person to be around. Her friendly nature and accepting personality are aided by general idiocy. When engineering and working on her explosives though, she becomes very focused and quiet. Some say that she pours her cheeriness into the explosives themselves as Alkyn becomes maniacally happy and quite fond of expletives when using her weapons. She will often be laughing so hard that she's gasping for air while using her grenade launcher. This becomes problematic on stealth missions and such. Alkyn's mania is not bound to combat, but with any explosives use on her end. Needless to say, this has made her difficult to work with for many.
  • Backstory: Born to a low-class family on Coruscant, Alkyn spent much of her childhood in the lower levels of the planet. Her mother was a chemist and encouraged Alkyn to venture in to the field. Unfortunately, this prodding was too successful and Alkyn found a penchant for explosives in particular. Early in her teens, with the rise of the Empire, she was briefly jailed several times for minor public disturbance charges. Eventually by the time when she was 25, her mischief escalated and she accidentally severely wounded some stormtroopers on patrol. This charge combined with the continually rising number of minor offenses found her sent to a prison station orbiting Coruscant. Over the course of 5 years on the station, she gathered explosive chemicals from wherever she could find it and she cobbled together a set of small charges. She used these to destroy the holding cell controls and she escaped the station on a freighter with a captured rebel pilot. The pilot brought her to Yavin 4 where she accepted working for the Rebel alliance so long as she could continue her work with explosives and using explosives. Given her numerous problems, the Alliance eventually decided to assign her to the Trouble Squad as a demolitions expert.

The character might be a tad too light-hearted, but I'm not sure what tone this Roleplay is going for quite yet. Lemme know what you think.

Nope - signups are definitely still open. And the character doesn't seem too lighthearted. Your backstory looks good and you seem to have a decent grasp on lore. The only issue I see is the amount of explosives she has on her. While an explosives expert is fine, I'm a bit concerned with the fact she has about 25 grenades on her, without even counting the grenade launchers and their ammo. The Rebellion does not have that type of resources and so many explosives could prove slightly gamebreaky. I'm going to say that she should maybe have around 15-20 grenades in total and some of those should be Micro-grenades or something similar.

Well I meant sub-25 grenades, including the stuff within her clip, so that means you'll have to have less than 30 within Greg.

In the meantime, post in the discussion thread to introduce yourself and recap the main thread so you get a picture of what's going on. PM me if you have any questions plot/gameplay wise. I don't have a problem handwaving Alkyn having been at the beach the whole time but I'm going to ask that she be with Arc and Karion away from the action at the start because otherwise I feel that her grenades would probably have been useful. Or you can wait until this mission's over for a smoother transition character-wise. Up to you.

Hi there! I've been meaning to get more into this section of the forums lately, and I figured Star Wars is always a good place to start. I have had 'debates' with family members over it before, so. :V

I'll need to see if the other RP I'm keeping an eye on kicks off, so as to not overload myself, but in the process of considering this one also. Would you say there's too many characters about at the moment? I have a preference for things that don't move too quickly. :)

Fair enough. grin

I'll have to look at everyone else's signups to get a handle on what might fit, though I did have an idea for a Cyborg who only joined the Alliance as an excuse to kill Imperials. I understand a lot of RPs have reservations about the Token Evil Teammate due to trust concerns, but this guy would be firmly anti-authority. Maybe a bit too much. :V

EDIT: On second thoughts, it seems my idea has already been more-or-less covered by two characters, so I'll have a think on other ideas.

  • Name – Karla Polen
  • Appearance – "I don't know about you, but I only blast when blasted at. It's safer."
  • Species, Age, and Gender – Human/24/F
  • Equipment –
    • Two lovely blasters (specifically these babies). And yes, she dual wields them.
    • A very simple datapad that can hack into electronic locks. Nothing fancy, it's not getting you into the Emperor's chambers or anything, but it can handle a prison cell and the like.
    • A set of lockpicks for the occasional fool who thought to get some "hackproof analog locks".
    • All of the basics of modern galactic life, of course—comlink, changes of clothes, etc.
    • A shovel. Yes, this is important to note.
  • Abilities/Skills – Karla calls herself a treasure hunter. Most would say 'theif'. Either way, she has the abilities and skills such a profession implies—lockpicking, hacking, sneaking around, fast-talking the occasional Imperial official into looking the other way, so on and so forth. Of course, she's also a pretty good shot.
  • Personality – Karla is cautious, but doesn't shy away from danger. She'll go through a garrison of stormtroopers to get her 'treasure', she'll just try to do it quietly. She is also not too interested in people—she's shy as hell and covers it up with enough snark to give General Solo a run for his money. Once you open her up...nope, she's still a sarcastic little thief, she's just more amiable. What, you thought this was one of those weird romantic holofilms?
  • Backstory – Karla's father was a soldier man, as was her grandfather and her great grandfather. Every single one of them was killed in action. Needless to say, she was not at all interested in following their footsteps. Her father had just enough time before he expired to teach the girl how to shoot straight and not get shot herself, and she took that knowledge and ran. After a few years in a boring as hell office job, she decided that 'treasure hunting' was far more profitable and had the perfect balance of excitement and not dying. She got into the business, got good at it, made a name for herself and before she knew it she was being contacted by the Rebel Alliance. Does she care about the cause of defeating the Empire and restoring the Republic? Not really. But they said they needed someone of her skillset and she almost never backs down from such flattery...

So I noticed among the characters there was a bit of a Republic Commando theme going on, and as someone who played that game, this gladdened me. Moreover, I noticed you have both clone troopers and a Trandoshan, so I thought to myself 'all we need now is a Geonosian!' And then I thought 'better yet, what if I made a character out of those Demonic Spider elite Geos, the ones with Frickin' Laser Beams?' Thus, this was born...

  • Name - Det Kelpsey
  • Appearance - "<White armour bad! White armour easily dirtied, bloodied, burned!>". His armour looks slightly different than the norm, owing to his modifications; it has green markings instead of blue ones and a blast collar that covers most of his neck. He also has a metal plate strapped to his face, with three 'scopes' over each eye.
  • Species - Geonosian Elite
  • Age - 32
  • Gender - Male
  • Equipment -
    • Det's weapon of choice is the Geonosian Elite Beam Weapon. Derived from heavy-duty industrial tools designed for cutting through wrecked droids and droid materiel for scrap, the Geonosians converted it into a weapon for use by their Elites. Due to their genetic and cybernetic conditioning, the Elites produce a volatile fluid in their own body, generated within their abdomens, that serves as the fuel for their weapon. The weapon is attached to the Elite's arm, with 'injectors' designed to draw upon said internal fuel and focus it inside the weapon. The weapon fires a continuous, high-intensity laser beam which can cut straight through most conventional building materials, and it has a range comparable to that of a military sniper rifle; for this reason, it has been likened to 'a long-range lightsaber' (and like the lightsaber, it even cauterises wounds it inflicts). This laser beam is also extremely hot, and may ignite fuel sources or set fire to surrounding foliage. However, it does have a major drawback. While its fuel source means it will theoretically never run out of charge as long as Det remembers to eat, continuous use of the weapon without a break will render him physically sick and delirious, to the point that he may experience hallucinations or forget crucial mission details. This effect is only amplified if he sees fit to fire the beam continuously for too long; for this reason, short and sharp controlled bursts are preferred.
    • The device he wears on his head functions as a rangefinder, and is equipped with night and thermal vision capabilities.
    • His thorax is implanted with miniature repulsorlifts, designed to aid his natural flight capabilities.
    • He also has a cardio implant, an adrenaline implant, and enhanced natural armour, all of which make him significantly tougher to take down or exhaust than most of his kind.
  • Abilities/Skills - Det is something of a special tasks person, taking maximum advantage of his natural flight abilities. When he attacks, he prefers hit-and-fly tactics; confusion and disorientation is the order of the day. His keen eye, aided by his equipment, enable him to operate at long ranges; he could fly his way around an imperial camp, get up on a cliff behind them, laser all their stuff and fly off, leaving the survivors to wonder if they're being attacked by their own side. However, his fearlessness in the face of battle, coupled with his cybernetics, means he is also suited to hit-and-run strikes in close-quarters.
  • Personality - While he's not completely insane, Det Kelpsey is clearly... troubling to most of the Trouble Squad, ironically. Being raised from birth to be a weapon of war has left its mark, and mental deterioration brought on by his aging conditioning and constantly draining all of his body fluids with his gun have only made things worse. He's a very twitchy, possibly nervous person, yet despite this, he's always eager to fly into a fight. However, what he really wants is an excuse to slaughter Imperials - who he sees as interchangeable with the Old Republic's Clone troops - as revenge for defeating the CIS and later driving his species to near-extinction. He's known to experience 'lapses' where he can't tell the difference between the Alliance and the Confederacy. He can only speak incredibly broken Basic, and is known to playfully threaten and mock both enemy and ally in his native tongue. He also has an enormous appetite, owing to his weapon's fuel source, and is usually the first to ask if there's anything to eat.
  • Backstory -
    • Det Kelpsey was born in a lab somewhere on Geonosis, the result of extensive cloning and genetic engineering designed to create the ultimate Geonosian warrior. The results of this project became known as the Geonosian Elites. Outfitted with superior armour and cybernetic attachments, they specialised in precision hit-and-run strikes against the inexperienced Clone army during the First Battle of Geonosis. Like the most of his kind, he racked up an impressive killcount against the Clones, and is believed to have even butted heads with the famous Delta Squad. However, more than half of all the Geonosian Elites in existence perished in the battle. The survivors were ultimately sent off on suicide missions for the confederacy at the behest of the Geonosian government, who feared that they might become a liability and a threat to their power during peacetime.

    • However, the Clone Wars failed to kill Det, and even after the Droid Armies were deactivated, he fled to the Outer Rim and jumped from holdout to holdout, killing Imperial troops for the sake of continuing a lost war. It was around about now that his mental deterioration began, but for the time being he remained lucid enough to know that the Confederacy as he knew it had been defeated; not that that stopped him from fighting anyway. He eventually joined up on a more permanent basis with a rebel cell made up of former CIS personnel, lead by a Geonosian engineer called Gizor Dellso.

    • When the Rebel Alliance proper was first being organised, Dellso's cell was reluctant to join up with other cells, on the grounds that they wished to restore the Old Republic as it had been before the Empire came to be, which ran counter to everything the CIS was trying to accomplish. However, Dellso was soon killed by the 501st Legion after he reactivated a droid foundry on Mustafar, and the remnants of his cell soon changed their minds after the Empire sterilised Det's homeworld, effectively committing genocide against his people, simply to cover up their intimate knowledge of the Death Star's workings.

    • Det was effectively broken and joined the Alliance proper, even more hungry for Imperial blood than ever. Of course, Trouble Squad was the only place for him, being a rather unstable super soldier and all.

Be sure to let me know if there's any O Pness going on. If you accept, I'll remember not to join right away. grin

  • Name: Yangf (born Eeyan'flemmin)
  • Appearance:Business or Pleasure?
  • Species:Rutian Twi'lek
  • Age: 27
  • Gender: Female
  • Equipment:
    • WESTAR-34 Blaster Pistol: Sleek blaster that's easily concealable. It's quite an expensive blaster, made out of dallorian alloy that allows repeat fire without overheating.
    • ASN Courier Droid: Useful for sending physical messages undetected, spying on unsuspecting people, and transporting deadly kouhun's to targets.
    • Bugs: As in the spying kind.
    • Vibro-shiv
    • Various fake I Ds
  • Abilities/Skills:
    • Espionage
    • Dancing: As is the tradition of her people.
    • Whatever the Star Wars equivalent of Capoeira is.
    • Seduction
  • Personality: Yangf can appear to be cute bubbly one minute, refined and seductive the next, and awkward and endearing the minute after. It's all a front. Yangf is cold, greedy and malicious. She only cares for herself and her own welfare. Suffice to say she is completely jaded when it comes to the plight of the Rebellion. That being said she can be swayed if the price is right.
  • Backstory:Not much is known about her childhood, though one can gather she had a childhood typical of most Twi'leks. Yangf was once a spy working for the Free Ryloth Movement. The Twi'leks had cracked a plan to kill the Emperor and Darth Vader during their visit to Ryloth, only to have it result in heavy casualties for the Movement and the loss of an entire village of freed slaves. This turn of events led to Yangf disowning her clan and surrendering herself to the Empire, having lost faith in her people's cause and the so-called Rebels who showed up too late. While in custody, the Empire offered her chances to use her skills for their benefit in exchange for special treatment within their security facilities. Turned out to be a big mistake, giving her even an inch of wiggle room. While collecting intel for the Empire she was secretly selling information about the Empire to anybody willing to pay. Her actions have led to losses on both sides of the conflict. It was during a mission that she managed to slip out of the Empire's clutches...and right into the laps of the Rebellion. Currently imprisoned and being questioned, most Rebels would rather have her ejected out of a spacecraft then give her the luxury of a cell and two meals a day. However General Mc Quarrie has other ideas for her...
