Again, any problem that could be raised for 6.2 goes double for the current image anyway.

Meanwhile, if someone's starting a TRS thread for this trope, do please post a link to the thread here, so those of us here who are interested can join in the discussion there as well.

Thanks!

As for the topic itself, I support the position that the image that y'all have been referring to as "6.2" is better than the current image.

Does anyone have any complaints about 6.2?

6.2 is the best example I've seen in the thread, but as it looks like the trope needs TRS work, I'm not sure the image should be changed.

I mean, the pic is hurting the page and I'd hate to see an important change buried by weird bureaucratic quirks of the system.

It's not just a weird quirk. Daefaroth made a good point in 49: as illustrated by two Kingdom Hearts covers, many games in the same series use similar names and cover art. Just a picture of two boxes doesn't have any context. A reader can only recognize that Pokémon is an example by being familiar with the works.

The current image has other information that communicates more about the relationship between the two games.

Yes, this is why image 6.2 was suggested. Even though the boxart of the Oracle games is illustrative, on a fundamental level the games are not illustrative of the trope, making the image misleading.

The Kingdom Hearts images aren't even similar bar art style. The compostion of the covers are vastly different with no parallels, to plus the game names have no clear connection between them.

6.2 is a good image. The covers are actually similar in a way that directly connects them thanks being nearly identical bar color, plus there is an obvious naming theme.

Also, the "4" in the title makes is pretty impossible to not see how the trope is being applied.

And, critically, that paired game actually fits the trope in a pretty unambiguous way. I would call it an improvement across the board.

If 6.2 is a good image, then I'll vote for it.

I think it goes without saying that my vote is in favor of 6.2 as well, and I'd like to get the ball rolling on replacing the current image

Let's start a single proposition crowner to decide whether or not replace the current image with 6.2.

I have seen IP crowners with only two options, but never single prop, in this forum.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.

Is there any rule against using other types of crowners in Image Pickin'?

A reader can only recognize that Pokémon is an example by being familiar with the works.

I'd argue that's not true. Pokemon Red and Blue prominently have "Blue Version" and "Red Version" in their title. The word Version inherently implies they are different versions of the same game. So at the very least those two boxes would be somewhat illustrative.

[up] But a lot of Pokémon games are called "X version", and they belong to different generations. Red/Blue/Yellow Versions, Black/White/Black 2/White 2 Versions...

True, but you can go for obvious pairings. White and Black for example.

Eitherway, the worst people might infer is that the game has in fact something like 16 versions. which would still be an example. so even if people get confused, their confusions aren't wrong in the sense of the definition of the trope.

I'm tentatively supportive of 6.2, but am more inclined to call this a BUPKIS page.

Not gonna go either way on 6.2 (whatever), but as far as BUPKIS goes, I'm still totally unconvinced current is worse than nothing.

This trope's pictures have been repeatedly discussed. If this thread doesn't get to a conclusion, the article will be added to the "multiple threads already; stop bringing this up again" list.

One thing that the current says, which the suggestions don't, is that the games were released at the same time.

[up] That's not true. 6.1 has US and Japanese copyright dates.

(I actually slightly prefer 6.1 to 6.2. I'm also taking bets on how many months it will be before my next post in this thread.)
