Suggestion: Video Game.Civilization

As memetic as the "Gandhi has nukes" thing is, I would think a screencap from the first game isn't entirely appropriate for a page covering six main games scattered across multiple decades (with graphics and gameplay updated and changing over time).

I'd suggest some version of one (or more) of the box covers. In particular, a edited crop of this◊ (the box art for the Amiga version of the first game) seems better to me, given the Tag Line present. (And yes, I do have an idea for a new caption to go with it, but let's tackle things in the proper order.)

Suggestion is way better.

Just for the sake of completeness, I did the crop. (An alternate idea would be to have it just be cropped to the title and tagline, although I'm not sure that's the best idea.) I can also resize it to be slightly bigger if people want.

"Nuclear Gandhi" might work for Ascended Glitch, given the story behind it.

3 seems fine to me.

If a caption could succinctly get the context across, I'd be fine with moving it there.

"Pacifist + underflow error = nuclear armed maniac" for caption maybe?

Looks like consensus to me. I'll swap the image on the Civ page later today, provided no objections.

I do have mixed feelings about the Ascended Glitch thing, since the image in question is an illustration of the original glitch, and not of the glitch becoming "ascended". Maybe pair it with a screenshot from a later Civ game, and it'll work better.

Bumpity bump.

Moving on, my caption suggestion would be some lines from the chorus from the Justice song "Civilization". It seems very appropriate to me, given what I know about the victory conditions in the games.

The next five sequels need love as well. Which one looks better?

While I did consider a similar idea to your image on the right, the reason I didn't suggest it was that either it would be so big that it pushed down into the examples list (which both of your images would do), or it would have to be shrunk down to the point of the individual images being so small that details wouldn't be easily visible. It wouldn't be awful, but I decided there are better options. So I picked my suggestion of a single cover, and well, no one objected.

The image on the left...way way WAY too page-stretchy.

I much prefer the single cover to the collage...that large vertical stack is an absolute no-go.

The one on the left is out of the question then. Even I think that would take up space even when resized

Gotta say, I prefer 16.2 over the single cover given that the individual games don't have a page yet (last time I checked).

Personally I have always thought that images for series with more than a couple of instalments, such as this, should have the cover of the first or latest release rather than a collage of all of them so I would vote for a single image of one of those two.

Well, if no one has anything else to add, then there's no consensus on any of the current matters up for discussion (either the Ascended Meme issue, a new caption, or alternate image ideas).

In that case, might as well close this thread. It's done and done.

Eh, let's just get on with one image. It would be a bitch compiling the six core games into one image, and it would be even more complicated to add the expansions and, should they make one in the future, the seventh sequel.
