I like the C&H pic.
Agreed. The Calvin and Hobbes pic is good.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I could go along with it.
(Annoyed grunt)What value does it have as a page image that it wouldn't have as a quotation, though? We don't see his facial expression, and Hobbes' facial expression doesn't seem to be saying much.
And I say this as a C&H fan.
It's a dialog-driven trope, so we will be hard pressed to find good visual examples. Adding this one.
I find that the C&H dialogue works better as a page quote than the current one.
Check out my fanfiction! For the record, I recently replaced the previous page quotation (the Erik The Vampire Hunter one) with the Cracked one that used to be on a related trope, not specifically for the purposes of this thread, but because this thread drew my attention to the flaws of said Eric The Vampire Hunter page quotation. note
I'm not really sure myself whether the C&H one or Cracked one would be better than the other, (former is more concise, latter is more interesting by the fact that it demonstrates this trope to be Truth in Television) but either would be better than the Eric The Vampire Hunter one.
Showing Truth in Television is not what we want. We want to show how the tropes are used in media first and foremost. It's TV Tropes, not Real Life Tropes.
Check out my fanfiction!True enough, it's just that it's a bit more interesting this way. There's plenty of examples to choose from as far as quotations go, though.
Still within C&H, here's another example from the trope page, where the fact that Calvin is watching TV adds a little more than just having the same as dialogue would, though I'm still not sure if it's enough to justify a page image, and if we were to go with C&H for the quote rather than anything else, having the same work provide the page quote and page image; if they're from different examples rather than the same example; might be pushing it.
Yeah, a little better, but still not that good. I still prefer the other one as a quote over this as an image, and over the current quote.
Check out my fanfiction!Well, here's the Penny Arcade one.
EDIT: Err, there's nothing wrong with blacking out the adjacent panels, is there?

10 is more family friendly.
Agreed...12 is funnier but 10 is probably better as a general-purpose depiction.
Even if we were to walk on eggshells to make TV Tropes family-friendly (in which case, we've got a long way to go) then kids who browse here might eventually post here, and be mocked by the rest of the Internet anyway. (And yes, I do think many Troper Tales participants were either children or very convincingly pretending to be. The "33 pencils" guy comes to mind.) There is no substitute for warning parents that this is not a kids' site.
For the record, I do intend to keep looking, I just think the reasoning above your post happened to be faulty.
Anyway, from Garfield...

Garfield is probably the best so far. More family friendly than Penny Arcade, and more concise than Calvin and Hobbes.

15, then?
(Annoyed grunt)Clock is set.
Clock expired, so closing.

This image crashed in the Image Suggestion thread. Other ideas?
ETA: Incidentally. I had also suggested this panel◊ from Calvin and Hobbes later on. Thoughts?
