A new world…A world of infinite possibilities, never-ending discoveries…a world where new threats rise and bring destruction upon all that we’ve built.

1000 Years Ago, Galactic Year 2110

Humanity had entered the start of a new age of technological breakthroughs, a new Age of Discovery. With the invention of viable interstellar travel, and the possibility of inter-galactic travel being a very real possibility, humanity could expand beyond the Sol System, and expand they did. Through expansion, we met other travelers of the cosmos. Some were friendly, as eager to meet new life as we were. Others were hostile, monsters from worlds beyond our own, or ruthless conquerors. Battle and war were, and still is, only a step away at any given time. Alien invasions, tensions between groups…so many foes and struggles threaten all that we’ve struggled to build, yet sometimes, heroes and villains can be difficult to tell apart.

One thing was clear. New weapons, whether to keep the peace or defend ourselves from the threats of this new age, would be needed. Weapons like…giant robots. Whether running on tried and true methods, cutting edge technologies, or dubious new discoveries, these ‘mecha’ have often gone by many names, though they all have one thing in common: awesomeness. Giant swords, guns with firepower far beyond any conventional weaponry, pilots who are either calm as ice or so fired up their blood might as well set their skin alight- these are but only a few traits that this new plethora of weapons have, and people needed to be taught how to use these titans to preserve the progress we had made over the years. And thus the first Age of Discovery ended, and the first Age of Growth began.

The Present, Galactic Year 3110

The known universe is standing on the cusp of the second Age of Discovery. Progress is happening at a dizzying pace, with new technologies and other, more esoteric pieces of our universe being discovered and developed so quickly, you’d be excused for not knowing about them at all. And, as with all technologies, these were eventually turned to weapons, though mecha have shown the most promising results. With all the untested prototypes now vying for combat to prove their effectiveness, yet too precious to lose, some mecha operator training institutions have taken to allowing people of all sorts and robots of all types as students in exchange for appropriate compensation. Nowadays, it isn’t uncommon to see the government’s new prototype mech or a researcher’s experimental mecha running on a new, unconventional science-defying power source amongst the mass-produced units made by industrial companies. It’s also generally given that you don’t need any qualifications to pilot the things either, but training the teams of mechs and pilots to develop the skills they need is essential is ensuring the future and these schools were happy to assist…for a price, of course, or for exceptionally talented individuals.

One such institution is the Academy for Robots, Mecha Operators and Recruits, commonly known as ARMOR.

Situated on the outskirts of the Sol system, ARMOR is a space station in its own right, equipped with all the technologies to accommodate its diverse student and teacher body. State-of-the-art, first class facilities, and multiple partnerships with industrial and research groups –and more recently, multiple militaries- have made it one of the most popular choices ever since its opening. However, the school has received many criticisms for its use of ‘sink or swim’ mentality, sending students out on actual combat missions as freelance fighters, though they are compensated fairly. ARMOR has also come under fire for recently coming into possession of a borderline military-level capital ship, though claims say that it is for the support of the students on more dangerous missions. Former students have given praise for the methods of the institution, stating that while it was indeed more dangerous than most conventional academies, they were assisted adequately by the experienced support staff on missions. The academy claims that giving them the practical experience to deal with the battlefields of the real world, and the laissez faire amounts of freedom are all integral to encouraging students to develop at their own pace into capable fighting forces. With the new school year beginning, crowds of new students will be landing on the station, in for a year of adventure, danger, self-development, and hopefully ass-kicking!

Hello! Welcome to Wings of Tomorrow, a freeform, original mecha RP! In Wings of Tomorrow, you play as the latest generation of students enrolled in the prestigious ARMOR facility for mecha pilots. In contrast with my past R Ps, I’m doing things in a very freeform manner, leaving a lot of the worldbuilding to suit the players. This means that just about every sort of pilot and mecha idea will be accepted, within reason of course. The tone of the RP is variable, up to the players really.

Rules/Notes

  • Standard Tv Tropes rules apply.

  • No godmodding, ghosting, autohitting (unless an agreement is made among the players concerned.)

  • Feel free to worldbuild! The world is your oyster, and all that. Your worldbuilding may NOT invalidate or change the worldbuilding of others though, unless those involved agree to it. Also, feel free to submit potential plot arcs, both for the RP as a whole and personal plot arcs. It wouldn’t be mecha without the pilots heading out themselves to deal with their own problems.

So, without further ado, onto the signups!

Pilot

  • Name: Sylvester
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 39
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: This fine lad here
  • Personality: On the outside Sylvester might seem a little cold at first, but he deeply cares for those around him, especially his subordinates and will go to great lengths to protect them and to even greater ones to protect civillians. While normally being either lightly distant or quite jovial there is one thing that will get him enraged no matter what. That being there mere suggestion to shoot at civillians or troops that already have surrendered. If he were to see such an act being comitted there is virtually nothing that would cause him to stop shooting until whoever did it is nothing but a pile of smoke. While a bit distant to strangers he is quite jovial to those he deems friends.
  • Traits/Abilities: none
  • Skills:
    • Piloting: He's a good pilot... not a one of a kind one but at least good.
    • Muscial talent: While not useful in battle Sylvester has a knack for music and can sometime be seen or rather heard playing an instrument
  • Equipment:
    • T-28-bis Needler: The standard sidearm of URSA soldiers, with the size of a typical submachinegun and practically no recoil to speak of the needler is perfect for cramped conditions. It works by firing a stream of tiny plastic flechettes. While those are not able to penetrate armor they will do quite the damage if hitting flesh and bone.
    • T-34 Pilot Suit: The normal pilot suit of URSA. Its helmet houses a facemask with integrated monitor allowing the pilots to directly see what the main camera is seeing.
  • Background: Sylvester came from a military family and as expected also became soldier, quickly rising through the ranks of URSA (United Russian Space Army). It went all well though in a battle a year or so ago he took a shrapnell shot to the cockpit... while he survived - albeit only barely - his co-pilot had no such luck. He later would find out that the medics could not even retrieve the body since it was virtually non-existent anymore, completely ripped apart by the shrapnell and spall. Silvester had an AI with her personality installed instead... while not fully sentient Sylvester takes comfort in the knowledge that his old partner is still with him - at least in some form. After this though he enrolled in the academy.

Mech

  • Mecha Name: RGM-89S [SA] Stark Jegan (Sylvester Asimov Use)
  • Appearance:
    • Description: For the most part the RGM-89S [SA] looks like the normal RGM-89S, although the unit sports some key differences. Most notably the two shields. The unit also features a slightly redesigned head unit.
    • Original Model: Like so.
  • Mobility:
    • Acceleration: 1G
    • Thrusters:
      • Main: 6
      • Vernier: 19
    • Only around 80 km/h maximum speed, about 100 km/h with purged armor.
  • Defenses:
    • Armor
      • Titanium Alloy/Ceramic Composite (Chobham armor): 15,7 tons. Can be purged
      • Luna Titanium Alloy: 15,3 tons. Mainframe
      • Heavily armored, can withstand 1-2 direct hits, although not more.
    • Shield x 2: A basic optional arm-mounted defense armament for many Federation Mechs. The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a Mech. Since the introduction of beam weaponry, shields have been treated with an anti-beam coating allowing it to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. Typically physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break.
  • Weapons:
    • Vulcan Gun Pod: The vulcan gun pod is an optional close-range defensive armament mounted on the head. The vulcan gun is a shell firing weapon with a high-rate of fire but has little power and is generally ineffective against Mechs, though it can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. The vulcan gun is ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
    • 60mm Machine Cannon: Like the head mounted vulcan gun the chest mounted machine cannons are shell firing weapons that have a high-rate of fire but little power and are generally ineffective against Mechs, save for lightly armored areas such as the sensors. As the vulcan these weapons are ideal for shooting down small, fast moving, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small vehicles.
    • 3-Slot Hand Grenade Rack: These waist mounted grenades can be thrown like regular grenades and set to detonate upon impact with the target or timed to explode after a preset time. The grenades can also be launched directly from the rack, while earlier grenade launchers unguided grenades, later versions launch self-propelled homing missiles with their own optical guidance systems.
    • 3-tube Missile Pod x 2: The RGM-89S [SA] can mount three tube anti-ship missile pods on each shoulder. Furthermore, these anti-ship missile pods may be equipped with side mounted large missile launchers. These large missile pods can be ejected to increase the Mech's speed.
    • Large Anti-Ship Missile x 4: The RGM-89S [SA] can be equipped with four large anti-ship missiles, each having a high firepower and large blast radius. Each missile appears to be able to destroy a ship.
    • Beam Rifle (GM-III version): Another beam rifle type that the RGM-89S [SA] could optionally equip. It is first used by RGM-86R GM III, powered by a rechargeable energy cap and has a power rating of 2.8 MW. It is mounted on the waist of the Mech.
    • Beam Gun x 2: The RGM-89S [SA] carries two pistol-sized beam guns that are stored in holsters mounted on the upper legs. The beam guns fire weak but rapid beam shots - while not a suitable main weapon they still remain a reliable backup should the other weapons be unavailable. Due to their low power output of 1.3 MW they last long and can be recharged quickly.
    • Shield Internal Weapons
      • Beam Saber x 2: The standard close range armament for most Federation Mechs. The beam saber is a small cylindrical device normally held in the Mech's hands when operated and is powered by an energy capacitor that is recharged from special racks. The beam saber is capable of cutting through any metal that has not been treated with anti-beam coating. The RGM-89S [SA] is equipped with beam sabers located on the front of both shields in groups of two for a grand total of four. Instead of being stored in a normal recharge rack they are firmly affixed to the shields. The RGM-89S [SA]'s beam saber features a pair of beam emitters which can be adjusted to a high or low-output mode.
      • 4-tube Small Missile Launcher x 2: The Jegan's shield also possesses minor offensive capabilities as it is built with two 4-tube small missile launchers. These small missiles are not very effective against large ships, but are ideal mid-range anti-Mech weapons.
  • Equipment/Abilities:
    • Sensors: The RGM-89S [SA] is fitted with most standard sensors in his head unit.
    • Incom System: The RGM-89S [SA] can use both his shields as wire guided funnels, using them for both offensive and defensive purposes.
    • Rüstsätze: The RGM-89S [SA] can be fitted with a variety of additional equipment to better fir into his role in particular mission.
      • /R1: The Rüstsatz adds a large Sturmwind Solid Fuel Booster and aerodynamic armor both of which can be purged. This massive SFB allows the Mech to get into orbit without other help with the armor acting as a payload cap to reduce drag.
      • /R2: The /R2 adds the same aerodynamic and heat resistant armor like the /R1 but no Sturmwind booster. The Mech can use this to make an atmospheric reentry without additional help.
      • /R3: Made for quick deployment from space the /R3 adds a Nordwind LFB, while this booster has less raw thrust than the massive Sturmwind it runs on liquid fuel and as such the thrust at any given point can be regulated, it also adds a few vernier thrusters that are fed from the same fuel tank and will be purged along with it over the mech to allow for superior mobility.
      • /R4: The /R4 adds a minelayer to the torso, it can hold up to 30 space mines.
      • /R5: The /R5 was made for SAR missions in mind, as such it replaces all missiles with mountings for small rescue pods, along with those it also adds a small medical station to the backpack that can dock with the rescue pods and allow for emergency treatment in the field.
  • Personality: None
  • History: After getting his tenth confirmed kill and hence 2nd ace Sylvester started to modify is Mech to better suit his tastes. He added armor to the Mech, to not lose mobility he also modified the thrusters, nearly doubling their number, he mostly oriented himself on the A2 version of the Jegan used by some special forces. The additional armor can much like the weapon systems be purged to increase the speed of the Mech. Recently he was given the opportunity to install an Incom system that would allow his shields to act as funnels, a chance he of course let not pass by unused. It went all well though in a battle a year or so ago he took a shrapnell shot to the cockpit... while he survived - alebit only barely - his co-pilot had no such luck.

  1. Sorry its soo long.
  2. I apologise for the definite ton of grammatical and spelling mistakes. Writing this through the whole night does not help my already poor sense of language.
  3. As I said before to you. It's an unusual case I am presenting, if you're not okay with it, feel free to reject or ask me to change something.

Pilot Signup

  • Name: Kaylid Andrew Ryans
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Recently, turned thirteen.
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance:
    • Kaylid though he is thirteen does stand at a rather scrawny and shrimpish height and build, later onto the puberty track and with a growth spurt definitely needed and likely/hopefully inbound. He stands at the embarrassing for him height of 137cm or 4ft 6 inches tall and only weighs about 70lb or 31.7kg, a low but healthy weight considering his small height but still embarrassing for him till he grows more.
    • Kaylid has rather light in tone skin, pretty unblemished youthful face with undefined childish features which only add to his embarrassment. His wide light blue eyes contrast greatly to his fiery ginger, red hair that is pretty spiky and unkempt though intentionally made to look spiky and larger to try and perhaps cover up his current lack of height. His ears are slightly pointed though not significantly.
    • Kaylid, when off-work or isn't expecting to be piloting casually wears a white and red t-shirt with a black long-sleeved undershirt what overall gives a somewhat baggy appearance and the covering of his arms, is to make him seem even just slightly bigger and not feel so self-conscious about his weak undefined musculature. Oddly he also tends to wear along with it a pair of red shorts since it's his upper body he is more self-conscious about. Image link
  • Personality:
    • Kaylid has a incredibly strong sense of right vs wrong, it isn't always correct of course misinterpretation or situations where that doesn't truly exist are a thing in the real world but there is a nativity in youth; this, of course, made much worse for him after his Uncles death, passionately driving him to succeed and protect others from harm. He is pretty restless, never able to really sit still for too long, always wanting something to put his mind to, even if that results in him cleaning/tinkering with his Mecha to idly pass the time so.
    • He is rather insecure, he has never gotten along well with others having a rather quick temper, easy to provoke and fly off the handle as a loose cannon; this has only been brought to a peak right now, while being mentally developed well beyond his years he is physically (and emotionally) still a kid but desperately doesn't want to be viewed as one. Unfortunately this confliction of wanting to be treated more like an adult while physically still having reached puberty means he is very self-conscious of his body as well as not entirely emotionally prepared for the hardships ahead making it perhaps a bit of a Berserk Button if the topic of his size/age is broached in some way he PERCEIVES as negative.
    • He is a smart boy, though, incredibly so despite his various faults physical, emotional or social and one just one that needs a little extra support every now and again, even if he outspokenly claims he doesn't want it.
  • Traits/Abilities: No real special abilities, though I suppose that a minor trait is that due to genetic engineering over time on his mother's side of the family, Kaylid has a longer than average predicted lifespan compared to the average human, not really a concern for this game but it is something to note as well as being slight more resistant to heat than most but really insignificant to be called much of a power, he can take really hot shower/baths though.
  • Skills: This is where Kaylid shines quite a bit, he is a young prodigy, a bit of a child genius. He is surprisingly skilled despite his inexperience with piloting Mecha, able to hold his despite his overall lack of formal training. Most of his talent comes from a good understanding of how Mecha in general work, both his own and his foes from his true area where he excels which is engineering, nurtured and strengthened by his time helping his, eccentric Uncle the same one who designed the Custom Mecha is his currently piloting, at least to his knowledge.
  • Equipment:
    • Well for missions Kaylid would probably be dressed in his pilot suit. A custom fitted protective suit made for him. It both provides some physical protection against injury, is resistant to but certainly not immune to fire and with the helmet can seal airtight to provide an enclosed oxygen system using some abet-optional hyper-density air canisters in the event that say his Mecha is breached in space. It has a built in radio and terminal, a visor that reactively taints based on the intensity of light to provide protection to the wearer's eyes as well as possesses a head-mounted lamp on the helmet for keeping his hands free in the dark. Random extra note, also makes Kaylid seem like he is a couple of inches taller, still, a scrawny babyfaced looking pipsqueak but every little bit of height helps from his perspective. Image link
    • The second thing Kaylid would bring with himself to a mission is his mechas Oran Blaster, its origin is not exactly known but it defiantly isn't of his uncle's construction and it does predate its mechas creation. It is a rather odd non-human seeming designed pistol made out some kind of lightweight metal. Attempts to deconstruct it and scan it have failed. The weapon fires this high-powered burst of energy with a rather considerable impact and recoil, its exact power level does seem somewhat psychoactive with its exact output and resulting impact seemingly affected by the wielders emotional state, sometimes being completely inoperable due to it. To the dismay of many who have tried to take it, it seems to only currently respond to Kaylids commands. Possibly the oddest quality, however, is separate to its rather considerable knockback (Intensified by how light currently Kaylid is) the users seem to report it being physically exhausting to fire, meanwhile having no recharge or ammunition socket making this mysterious but powerful handheld weapon one that is only used sparingly. Image link
    • Edited addition with permission from GM-Pheonix: Final thing Kaylid would carry is a basic set of enegineering tools on a small kit, compact and easy to store away so he can make both field repairs and utalize his engineering skills out on the field for whatever purpose that might be, Mecha or otherwise.
  • Background:
    • Kaylid was raised on the colony world of Veranas, it is usually a pretty quiet little farming world with small areas of mining. His father died before he was born, serving in the military his ship destroyed by an unknown aggressor while on duty. His mother, a Mariana Newman is a famous actress who constantly travels and therefore left him with her brother/his Uncle Galic Newman who was an engineer/mechanic for one of the major areas of the colony. Kaylid grew up with little to no supervision, his uncle being distant and rather busy. This lack of adult supervision wasn't a large issue for him, though, instead it more encouraged him to learn and take more responsibility than he would otherwise; tinkering with his uncle's tools and equipment when he was out of the workshop.
    • He happily attended school at the start but as things went on he got more and more frustrated with everything, getting maximum marks on his tests very early on. Picking up on everything being taught and any extra work his teachers could present, a genuine prodigy who was brought up the chain to study in upper classes. This continued till about the age of 10 when he sat his high-school exams early and passed with flying colours. Throughout all his schooling career his intelligence was both laughed at by the kids his age as well as from his intellectual peers he studied with. Despite his star performance in school, he was also a troublemaker, powerful temper but small stature resulted in him often getting into more trouble than he could handle.
    • Kaylid before he finished studying at school had already pestered his uncle to let him work with him during his time off, not wanting to spend time with his peers due to the social problems. Once it started Kaylid became almost vital to the shop, in his part-time working away happily and becoming his uncles' apprentice. After leaving school early deciding to just work with his uncle the full time away from the criticism, well except the occasional customer who couldn't say much considering his repairs worked.
    • A few weeks before his thirteenth birthday his home, the whole colony fell under attack by pirates who were vicious and ruthless in their seemingly random pursuit killing his uncle and wrecking much of the colony... This was at least till Kaylid broke into his uncle's safe, took the control console for his Uncles biggest project the Mecha he had secretly been building as well the Orne blaster and started to pilot it in a bit of a panicked rage... Details are not the clearest but it did end with the pirates defeated and Kaylid injured but the victor.
    • It was a while he was in the hospital over the next few weeks, while his mother took a break from her work to see him that he fervently asked to be enrolled in ARMOR, she initially resisted but his fire so similar to his late father's eventually convinced her. Using her influence as a celebrity, his clear skill, and recordings of the fight that were caught as well as giving a significant donation that he was accepted as one of the youngest students to the institution, informing him of this on his thirteen birthday, the same day he got our of the hospital for his injuries. Though he has no desire to have her pay for his time there, Kaylid wanting to earn as much as he can for himself to prove he can; his mother regardless did spend out money on repairing his Mecha as well as buying supplies and the custom fitted and resizeable piloting suit for him among a few other things. Kaylid is just hoping that like he has pretty much always done, that he can keep his Mothers status a secret because the extra complications and hassles it would cause him if people found out would be a major headache for him.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: Dawnstrider
  • Appearance: Image link, unfortunately, I don't know how to describe a Mecha that well so I hope the picture alone is enough.
  • Mobility: The Mecha is quick, very quick. In its basic mode decently fast on the normal scale for Mechs but when its advance thrusters are activated it is capable of moving very fast from one location to another and as a result delivering heavy impact through fly-by charges with its blades or if needed direct contact. Capable of dodging ranged attacks with ease unless there is a significant numbers advantage to the enemy. It is certainly a Mecha meant for more gorilla warfare style tactics over direct fighting. In addition, the Mecha is capable of adjusting its fins to and adjust in shape to allow for a Jet mode for travelling in atmospheric air conditions with little drag. It can still use its weapons in said form but it is harder to land a direct blow with. The other option it has is similar but also involves sealing its ports and further adjusting its fins and struts to allow itself to perform high-speed underwater maneuvers at the cost that its laser weapons become ineffective due to diffraction.
It's already very quick speed is only amplified during burst mode.
  • Defences:
    • Armouring (Basic): The Mecha is lightly armoured in almost all regards except the lower arms and feet to enable better melee attacks and the central core where the pilot sits and the reactor is located. It is otherwise lighter on armour to allow for less weight. The Mecha is capable of withstanding a small number of decent of direct impacts before being broken in a region and the internal components start to become vulnerable.
    • Environmental protection (Basic): The Mecha was designed with the ability to survive a variety of conditions but notably including high pressure and range in temperature. Such as being able to go deep deep deep into the ocean and function well if needed or into a very hot location, this doubly makes the entire Mecha more resistant to heat based attacks like plasma and lasers due to its ability to diffuse the heat and cool itself
  • Weapons:
    • Powerfist (Basic): A close ranged weapon, essentially the Mecha launching its first propelled by thrusters towards the foe which then homing returns to the Mecha afterwards. Not the strongest attack but occasionally useful when out of melee range or when a surprise attack is needed.
    • Dual laser pistols (Advance): The most basic weaponry of the Mecha, stored in compartments on the legs. Firing singular beams of energy, relatively weak but decently accurate medium ranged sidearms. They recharge rather quickly capable of firing a shot a second. They can penetrate weak armour but they are not primary weapons. (Burst) When burst mode is triggered the weapons can fire twice as fast with a much higher power level than before.
    • Beam sabres (Advance): The extensions from the lower arm are capable of generating hot plasma beams that surround the fins and allow them to cut through even heavy armour effectively. These powerful plasma beams are incredibly hot and can burn and can often melt targets they strike. The fins can also be re-angled to allow for a greater degree of control and cutting. (Burst) When burst mode is triggered the blade length increases greatly and the cutting power is boosted by secondary jets of plasma increasing the heat and energy transferred.
    • Missile slots (Basic): The other basic weapon of the craft is the missile slots, though the craft can only store 4 missiles at a time. The good side at least of the missiles is that they can be changed or adjusted when it's in the hangar easily by loading different warheads. Generally, these are always homing unless otherwise stated as being fired manually. Example warheads, of course, include high explosive, corrosive and smoke.
  • Equipment/Abilities:
    • In the cockpit of the Mecha is a slot both shaped and sized for the barrel of the Orne Blaster, which when inserted into the craft unlocks its systems and features but this is essentially more of an ignition key than a special power. The Orne blaster does allow one additional feature of the Mecha however, when it is "fired" into the chamber by the pilot the energy activates the crafts Burst Mode increasing energy output greatly, increasing speed, overall power as well as increasing the pilots synchronisation rating with the craft for a short time; much like firing the gun normally however the final result leaves the pilot exhausted and weakened.
    • Long-range sensor array (Basic) The Mecha has a variety of standardised sensors for detecting people and enemies at a long range with a decently good resolution, more the array you might put on a scout over that you would put on a regular combat Mecha but highly effective in space or on the ground.
    • Pilot-Mecha synchronised control system The Mecha and Pilot connect to each other via cables released in the cockpit that attach themselves to the pilot to form neural connections, "two become one" to some degree. Doing this greatly improves reaction times, awareness and accuracy as the pilot can directly use the sensory inputs of the Mech as well as seems to in some way psycho-actively improve (Normally improve at least, a poor pilot mental state could make things worse) the functions of the Mecha. While the Mecha can be piloted manually without such it is generally far weaker, especially due to rapid speeds often making it difficult for most to react and operate in time. At higher levels the effect becomes greater, however, also means impacts against the Mecha might be physically felt by the pilot.
  • Personality: As far as anyone is aware there is no sentience or intelligence to the Mecha, but that is actually far from the truth. The Mecha at its core does have a primitive form of intelligence and a rather protective one at that for whoever it recognises is its pilot, hence the reason the Blaster only works for Kaylid and nobody else. '(Though others can pilot the Mecha still just not to its full potential and may not work so well if it is trying to be used against Kaylid.) Who or what this intelligence is that does grow stronger when the blaster is part of it, but it is a mystery but perhaps one that will be explored, though first people just need to discover it's in here in the first place. It should be noted said intelligence doesn't tend to act, perhaps it is what Synchronises for Kaylid but he hasn't noticed such, perhaps his more active intelligence blocking suck out. Though if Kaylid were to fall in critical danger while aboard of the Mecha, it might assume control of the for a short time at least.
  • History: The history of the Mecha is actually two stories. The story that Kaylid believes is true and the actual story.
    • To Kaylid's knowledge due to the blueprints and schematics about on the craft that Dawnstrider was built by his uncle with aid of some tech he got from some of his old friends on the planet Horizon. Secretly building it in his spare time in the laboratory under neither his home and workshop that now with his uncles' death passes to him.
    • The reality, however, is far different for, in truth his uncle did not build Dawnstrider, he repaired it from scrap. He found a crash site with it wrecked and ruined deep within one of the planets mines, in a useless state missing half its chassis and armaments, without a pilot, corpse or anything other than the Orne Blaster nearby which was the only thing in pristine condition. His uncle took all of this back over 15 years ago to his workshop and slowly began fixing it up or rebuilding it the best he could, designing new components and taking a guess at how it should have been pre-wreck as well as testing and researching it and its equipment. To little success for the most part, though he was able to use say the blaster he couldn't figure out its construction or exact power source. He did note the drain to the user's stamina, however. Still, the craft and its guns origins are completely unknown, much of its deepest workings still being essentially a Blackbox in design that needs to be figured out.

  • Name: Maya

  • Gender: Female

  • Age: 20 Actually only like 3

  • Race: Synthetic Human

  • Appearance: Femme Fatale.

  • Personality: Maya is, to put it bluntly, very short-tempered, violent even. One gets the feeling that she's constantly angry and itching for a fight. However, she manages to keep herself in check most of the time, and is genuinely a caring person, and hates herself for being violent. She's very reckless though, and is quite inept and horrible at being gentle or savvy in social situations. Not that she really cares, seeing as she doesn't know better. Still, beneath that brash exterior is a loyal person who desperately tries to make people like her, despite her flaws. The non-stop rage and bloodlust are an effect of her brain programming, making it hard for to devote her time to anything that isn't concentrating on remaining calm, which makes sleeping very difficult for her.

  • Traits/Abilities:

    • Maya does not need to eat, drink or sleep very much, though she does so often just so she can feel human.

    • Maya has exceptional reflexes, strength, speed and durability from cybernetics and her status as a synthetic human designed for combat.. She's capable of performing Matrix-esque feats of acrobatics.

    • Maya regenerates from wounds much slower than an ordinary human. She's also incapable of producing her own blood.

    • Once her eyes go red, her physical abilities increase tremendously. This change is triggered by rage and other desires to hurt or emotions of anger.

    • Ambidexterity.

  • Skills:

    • Maya is a crack shot with twin pistols, as well as in knife fighting.

    • Maya is actually a decent cook. The fact that that tends to involves knives is pure coincidence.

    • She's has recently taken up meditation and yoga, letting her keep her calm in stressful situations and leaving her very flexible.

  • Equipment:

    • Two "Star Hawk" high-caliber pistols. These things pack some stopping power with full auto capability.

    • Twin Monomolecular Cutters. Two knives that can cut through most materials, including the average mech cockpit.

    • Pilot suit, has a helmet.

    • Standard issue communicator/HUD projector.

  • Background: Maya was accepted into ARMOR with her mysterious mechs on the grounds of extraordinary piloting skills and potential. Further than that, she refuses to say. More to be revealed as the RP goes on, promise.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: The LF Y01-B (lade) AKA "Blauerknecht"

  • Appearance:Melee Monster

  • Mobility: Capable of flight, the Blauerknecht is fast, made for charging directly into melee. It's able to consistently dodge ranged fire and keep up with skilled melee mechas in terms of sheer speed and maneuverability. It's equally good in all terrains.

  • Defences:

    • Internal Armor Lattice Matrix: The support structure beneath the armor plating is especially designed to absorb the crushing and cutting impact of melee weapons, both beam and physical. However, it offers little protection against piercing or explosive attacks.

    • Armour Plating: The Blauerknecht can withstand a few shots from most ranged weapons, but it's noticeably weaker to ranged weapons than melee weapons.

    • Parry Shield: The shield on the mech's arm is specially designed to take almost no damage from melee attacks and completely absorb the impact, but takes more damage from ranged weapons. Better than nothing.

  • Weapons:

    • 2x Micro Missile Pods:These pods on the legs of the Knecht launch salvos of small, low power missiles, peppering a large area. They have enough for three salvos each.

    • 2 'Star Wind' Plasma Pistols: Short ranged, but high power plasma pistols. These tend to be able to fire off about 10 shots each before needing to vent off the heat. Stored in the hips of the mecha.

    • 'Ripper' Heavy Plasma Caster: This rifle-esque weapon fires densely packed shots of plasma. The shots have shorter range that any conventional rifle, but pack a lot more power. Stored on the back of the Knecht.

    • Solid State Saber: The sword located on the arm of the Blauerknecht for easy access. This sword is basically an extremely dense, sharpened piece of metal, earning the nickname of "Super Solid Saber", capable of clashing with energy beams without a problem, as well as delivering powerful melee attacks that crush armour.

    • Knecht Knuckles: An IRE System only weapon, these are basically a pair of cestus that move over the Blauerknecht's hands. By drawing power directly from the IRE System and generator, these can punch right through most mechs and send even heavily-armoured ones flying with a hit. Due to the currently unconfigured state of the IRE System, it's impossible to actually use.

  • Equipment/Abilities:

    • Standard sensors and comm systems.

    • IRE System:The 'Intrinsic Reactionary Equalizer' System acts as an interface between the mecha and Maya, generating power derived from her rage. As her anger increases, so does the power generated. When fully activated, it allows her to sends bursts of power throughout the mecha, essentially transferring her own personal super mode's effects to her Mecha, and allowing her to control it to a limited extent with her mind. It is currently unconfigured, and cannot be fully activated. It also only recognizes Maya, and refuses to work for anyone else.

  • Personality: N/A

  • History: Nothing is known about the Blauerknecht, other than that Maya brought it with her when she enrolled in ARMOR. All concerns that it might be stolen were tossed aside when it was revealed to recognize Maya as the pilot.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: LF-Y02 R (anged) AKA 'Roterschutze'

  • Appearance: Ranged Ravager.

  • Mobility: The Roterschutze is slower than the Blauerknecht, leaving it vulnerable to fast, melee mechs. However, in return, it is a lot more dexterous and can pull off more complex maneuvers. Like the Blauerknecht, it's equally mobile in all terrains, and can fly.

  • Defences: The armour plating of the Roterschutze is especially resistant to ranged attacks of all kinds. It's not as good at resisting melee attacks as the Blauerknecht. It's thicker though, meaning it can take a more punishment.

  • Weapons:

    • Beam Blade: A standard beam sword.

    • 4x Micro Missiles Pods: Same as the Blauerknecht. Individually, there's enough for 3 salvos. Two in the shoulders, two on the legs.

    • 'Red Baron' Variable Rifle: An experimental new rifle design with three firing modes with interchangeable barrels. There's the assault rifle, your standard high speed, low power bullets, a beam rifle mode for high accuracy, and finally, a rocket launcher barrel for high explosive bullets and missiles.

    • Twin Hyperpulse Cannons: The wing-like features on the Roterschutze's back can flip over the mecha's shoulders, and split in the middle to form a railgun-esque sort of design. These can then fire rapid, powerful pulses of energy in a beam. Long range and high power, but needs to be charged, and is easy to dodge.

    • 'Crimson Comet' Hyperpulse Bow: IRE System only. The wings on the back of the Roterschutze can detach and combine to create a bow. The barrels pool all the energy pulses in the middle, forming a dense ball. With the mech's right hand resonating with the same energy, the ball is then pulled back and fired in the form of an extremely destructive energy arrow, capable of dealing high damage to mecha with extremely thick armor, and piercing right through weaker mecha.

  • Personality:N/A

  • History: Nothing is known about the Roterschutze either, Maya having brought it along with the Blauerknecht with her when she enrolled in ARMOR. It also recognized Maya as the pilot.

  • Name: Normally unpronounceable, given name is Ser Architecture Masterful. No nicknames.
  • Gender: Ser Architecture Masterful uses they/them/theirs pronouns but declares themself to have no gender.
  • Age: 23
  • Race: "Kersh" is the English approximation for their own word for themselves, because the Kersh language sounds like raw static when broadcast on an audible band. They're a society of robots created by another species they now refer to as the "Shuk" in English, again approximated off of their own language. Formerly slaves, their early AI cores developed sentience and a war for freedom broke out. The Kersh won of course, leaving nothing left of the Shuk but themselves. As robots, they were essentially post-scarcity at the start, and their ability to reconfigure around a central brain with ease also meant that they became a radically egalitarian society. They met the humans early on, but kept their distance primarily out of a wish to not complicate their lives with such a young society. Kersh society is a true democracy with a strong military that awards individual valor with titles and decorative bodies.
  • Appearance: Sheathed in a body denoting royalty and in homage to the late great Hajime Katoki, Ser Masterful is actually only five feet tall. They weigh about 300 pounds, however.
  • Personality: Ser Masterful is somewhat condescending to the humans. They see the race's gravitation towards mecha, as well as all the mecha around in their culture before the machines's real invention, as evidence of their own race's... if not superiority, then certainly that the Kersh are in the right direction. The best thing about that, however, is that recent transhumanist products mean that the human race is actually pretty steadily going towards full mechanization, so Ser Masterful is overall very optimistic about the whole race thing. They see their larger machine merely as an extension of their body, and they're very interested in seeing how other people see their mechs. To not think about such things is a sad state of affairs and Ser Masterful insists on getting people to think about big picture stuff. Their own upbringing has lead Ser Masterful to have a lot of faith in authority and authority figures, though they're also open to change that opinion seeing as the humans are so different from them. They really try to talk things out as much as possible, but when pressed Ser Masterful will not hesitate to engage in battle out of self defense, attempting to wound and disable as much as possible then defer to higher-ups in order to determine what to do with them.
  • Traits/Abilities:
    • The Kersh are all robots, so they don't need to breathe or eat, but they do need rest; prolonged consciousness drives any sentient being insane, it turns out. They can go awhile without sleep, maybe a week, but after that period they start to go a little loopy. They also "talk" to one another entirely through wireless data transmission, and have systems for doing so put right into the core of their bodies. It's like they have a phone on them at all times.
    • Ser Masterful's body is built for extreme durability. They are essentially armored at all times, and most weapons intended to disable unarmored humans won't do anything to them.
    • The Kersh are not really their bodies, exactly. Ser Masterful's "brain" is a glowing block of incomprehensibly dense electronics about the size and weight of a cinderblock sitting in their chest, and a small wire can extend from their brain into some computers. Unfortunately, they are not actually a particularly accomplished computer engineer outside of combat, so they can basically just do Normal Computer Things particularly well and more immersively than most folks. This brain is, however, completely inanimate when outside of a body, and is always extremely vulnerable to EM Ps and magnets, which scramble viciously scramble it.
  • Skills:
    • Ser Masterful is a Kersh of "wealth" and taste. However, money is an evil that the Kersh have long since discarded, so what this actually means is that they spend most of their free time and resources on the crafts and on socialization. Ser Masterful likes to build fine art and then host parties where they do Fancy Stuff. They were rather taken with humankind's own takes on visually appealing and resource-intensive socialization, and so Ser Masterful attempted to adopt this whole affectation similar to a human noble in order to perhaps get people to like him more.
    • Most of Ser Masterful's training is in single melee combat, but they aren't a "fair" duelist by any means. Ser Masterful has in particular perfected multitasking a melee fight while also throwing out a vicious electronic assault to attempt to scramble their opponent's internal systems.
  • Equipment:
    • Ser Masterful is always armed with a modern beam-saber. Literally of the same size and shape as an old Earth cavalry saber, made of plasma.
    • Ser Masterful's arms and shoulders have secret compartments, normally for carrying books and shit but also useful in order to just stash things, as they're lined with lead and aluminum in order to prevent them from being hit with x-rays or other scanning devices.
    • The Kersh Personal Atmosphere Pod is a plain cigar-shaped ship capable of carrying up to five at high speeds in atmosphere—it's basically a flying Station Wagon, to be perfectly honest.
  • Background:
    • Ser Masterful was raised by a group of academics and anthropologists dedicated to finding new ways to help the Kersh on a space station called SAT-69. Their sector's economy was stagnating, and a recession or depression was right around the corner. The Kersh that would come to be known as Ser Architecture Masterful grew up knowing that their people may very well be going into a dark place, but they refused to give up hope. They looked both to the past and the present, trying to find something to keep people going. They found they were particularly skilled at entertainment, and so became a bit of a Master of Ceremonies, trying to keep their people happy in any way they could think of.
    • Ser Masterful rose to fame among the Kersh by publishing multiple essays about why the Kersh should open more active communication with the humans and attempt to understand their culture. They volunteered themself to the lions, as it were, and proposed that they join ARMOR in order to improve racial relations between their culture. They were given the title Ser Masterful Architecture, a mecha of sufficiently innovative design, and a body of sufficiently visible importance.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: Elegantem Stultitia
  • Appearance: Elegantem Stultitia is a composite monstrosity intended to showcase the possibilities of a design philosophy created by people who have no consensus on what a body truly is. It is actually three separate modules that operate under their own power, but all but the central body require input from an externally connected force to function. The central body is the closest it has to a "torso," a square block painted green with white detailing on the joints and the spots between major armor plates, twelve meters tall, with two arms coming out of the side ending in four fingers and two thumbs. There are canisters on the forearms that break open to reveal its weapons when need be, and it has small verniers on the elbows, shoulders, and back also painted white. The "legs" module are that same core-and-limbs arrangement with green and white colors, but the central core is spherical, allowing the limbs to move along its surface at any angle. These limbs end in solid points that can either close up to be used as extra limbs for stability on the ground, or blossom open to reveal enormous jet engines. The "Head" segment is also core-with-limbs, but is significantly stranger otherwise. The surface of this segment is bristling with different sensors and antennas, and the right arm stops early to just have a large metal frame in a vaguely tubular shape, dotted with lights. The left arm also ends in a large camera lens rather than a hand.
  • Mobility: Varies across each piece. The head and central body are fairly slow at only about 60 kph, but the legs can under their own power reach up to 400 kph. They slow down significantly when combined, however, dropping to 200 kph when the body and the legs are attached, and down to 150 with both head and body attached. In order to minimize weight each part cannot be operated by remote, but can be given a sort of dumbfire order and then detached, launching them like a projectile to hopefully be caught by someone else.
  • Defences:
    • While the Head and Legs rely mostly on either mobility or the protection of other mecha, the Body is heavily armored and capable of surviving a huge amount of punishment. It is hardened towards EM Ps, but since too much of the substance used to treat this is harmful to its pilot, repeated assaults will actually wear down this defensive system and eventually break through.
  • Weapons:
    • Kersh Duelist's Blade: A big sword, fifteen feet long and composite just like Elegantem Stultitia itself. Normally carried in three parts—one three meters long, one five meters long, and one seven meters long—all usable independently if necessary, but also capable of combining into one greatsword.
    • Kersh Impact Staves: A supply of spears, capable of being both thrown and used in melee, simple shafts of extremely strong metal and "only" ten feet long. Each one is equipped with a rocket at the end capable of discharging remotely.
    • Kersh Dueling Pistol: Intentionally designed like an old human pistol, the Kersh Dueling Pistol loads a single incredibly powerful slug and fires a single devastating bolt of metal before needing to be reloaded. The Dueling Pistol is too small for long range, but if fired from less than thirty meters away it can inflict terrible harm.
    • Kersh Tower Shield:A big ole sheet of metal, treated and pressed and folded exactly 2^256 times, it's just a really good and extraordinarily heavy shield, five meters tall and two meters wide.
    • Kersh Electronic Attack Armature: All of Elegantem Stultitia's melee weapons are rigged with a transmitting interface that dumps a heavy payload of aggressive communication requests that Ser Masterful sneaks Trojans onto in order to attempt to infiltrate or at least slow down the processes of a target.
  • Equipment/Abilities:
    • All of the parts of Elegantem Stultitia can attach onto other mecha with their consent, allowing Ser Masterful to assist their allies. This is done primarily through magnetic grips onto the back of a given machine, in addition to little claws that extrude from the surface if there are any handholds for it. As necessary, each module could attach to any surface it would need to keep doing its job.
      • The Head's equipment boosts its allies' sensor suite by lending additional processing power with its own radar, sonar, and heat detection. Its camera arm grants up to 50x magnification, and can see across infrared and ultraviolet light if that is for whatever reason useful. The right arm is a more peculiar case; it locks onto an existing arm as a sort of attachment and boosts the effectiveness of any kinetic weapon by turning it into a railgun, doubling its range and speed of projectiles.
      • The Body can act independently when attached but can also link up to its combination target's operating system, allowing it to provide defensive or offensive support as a literal extra set of hands.
      • The Legs act as either a set of secondary legs to provide stability and turn any mech into a sweet centaur kinda thing, or as a jetpack/vernier system to dramatically increase mobility in any direction.

I'm interested but I might need time to create together my character. I'm thinking of making a character affiliated with the Royal Air Force/UK Space Agency (or an appropriate far-future equivalent) who is a cool-headed engineer, using a mech which is a transforming bastard mix of a Storm Sworder, Rev Raptor and Gun Sniper or for those of you unfamiliar with Zoids, a highly-mobile robotic velociraptor/pterodactyl with a sniping railgun that runs the length of the entire machine.

W...Well, I've got a sheet mostly written out (at the moment, it's missing a weapon and controls) b-but for the most part, it's done, so I might as well throw it out here and get an opinion. Um, sorry if there's anything wrong/overpowered/underpowered, by the way. I'm not that good at describing the mech so I linked a page which...mostly covers it, hopefully.

  • Name: 'Doc'. Or alternatively, Ren Kinglet.

  • Gender: Male.

  • Age: 21.

  • Race: Human. Although at this point, partially Crystallux. While human in build (with some exceptions), their defining features are like the name implies, crystals covering their bodies and sort of like snowflakes, the pattern, formation and to the extent of what's covered vary between each individual, whether it's subdued like lightly scaled skin to far more noticeable formations that seem like a set of crystalline armor that 'evolves' as time goes on, some eventually become completely crystallized.

  • Appearance: This. Just without the pony tail. And more fancier goggles. Not pictured, a sleek light-blue metallic glove on his left arm that goes down the to elbow. ...Although when he's not wearing it. his Crystallux features make themselves apparent, with silver hair, shimmering amethyst eyes and...well, his left shoulder and by extension, arm, which has small formations of crystal along the limb ending with his hand being a crystallized claw.. As for measurements, he stands about 172cm, or about 5'6 and weighting only 58 kilograms.

  • Personality: Compared to his comrades in arms, Ren is level-headed and logical, yet at the same time, quite polite, civil and happy to be of assistance, if surprisingly sharp and knowledgeable, meaning at the very least he's well-educated. ...Yet the young man is quite hesitant to harm other humanoids, especially if there's alternate and less lethal ways to deal with them. When his L.I.V.E gauntlet is deactivated or removed, Ren is far more subdued and reserved, even a little lethargic. Or 'asleep' as Hellion would put it as Doc remembers very little of his actions when he's in this sort of state.

  • Traits/Abilities: For the most part, Doc is a rather ordinary human being. Although his partial 'condition' has given him surprising resilience, being able to shrug off small arms fire, blades and the like when his gauntlet is removed. Along with this, he's able to spot possible weak-point in anything whether it's mechanical or biological, being able to use it at will ...Although as a trade off, overuse speeds up the crystallization process, causing considerable pain and his immune system is rather poor without the L.I.V.E gauntlet on.

  • Skills: As a fighter outside of his mech, to say Ren is sub-par is a bit of an understatement. While he's capable of defending himself to a degree, it's usually as a last resort with his gauntlet Or the crystallized clawed hand beneath it.. On the other hand, his ability to save lives is astonishing as the mysterious young man has considerable amounts of medical expertise from basic first aid to surgery although where he picked up these skills is something he quite can't recall.

  • Equipment: Miraculous Medical Kit: Fancy name aside, this simple metallic box contains quite a lot, from 100 meters worth of bandages, gloves, biotic thread for suturing, splints for broken limbs...if there's a medical emergency that happens, this box likely has the means to make it much less fatal.

    • ''L.I.V.E Glove/Gauntlet: Lightweight/Limb Interventional Virus Eradicator. As mentioned above, this piece of technology is a metallic glove that covers most of Ren's arm. Made from a metallic alloy as sturdy as titanium, yet as light as tin, this gauntlet is something that he's been wearing for several years. Apparently, it had more functions that keeping track of the young man's vitals and the like, but Hellion states that they've been deactivated for the time being.

  • History: Between information surrounding the mysterious young man being...tenuous at best and Ren himself describing some of the finer details of his youth, place of birth and the like causing painful headaches, most officials were content to go with reports matching his description of a talented medic traveling from place to place where small scaled conflicts had broken out. ...Although oddly enough, before enrolling in ARMOR, the young man had very little, if any knowledge about the Mecha and the artificial intelligence on board which claims to have cheeked him out.

    • Preliminary tests between the two showed that despite having no apparent knowledge of the suit, let alone it's controls, some sort of 'synergy' between the machine and it's pilot was noticeable. Regardless, the young man politely requested admittance to the Academy in hopes of picking up some new skills, learning more about both the machines and those who control them and perhaps recall some of the finer details of his history.

  • Mecha Name: Inferno, 'Hellion'.

  • Appearance: Standing at about 20.2 meters tall, 16.6 tons and painted a mostly dull grey and fiery red, Inferno takes on a slightly humanoid sort of build, (sort of like the Assault Shroud picture here, I guess.)

  • Mobility: See Defenses. Or to summarize, 140 KM/h on solid ground, 90KM/h either when in flight or the vaccum of space and...a lousy 25 kilometers if Inferno's stuck underwater.

  • Defences: A majority of the suit's armor is made from an alloy known Metatron. Known for being incredibly durable, capable of repairing itself and being a flexible metal which makes Inferno somewhat sturdy and as mentioned above, mobile enough that it can be considered slightly above average compared to a typical mech...each of these factors has a drawback making it a double-edged sword as it were.

    • While it's sturdy, the plating on this metal is by no means invincible as concentrated fire will wear it down and truly incredible firepower will bring the mecha into a critical condition rather quickly.

    • As Inferno eschews shields or heavier armor, the only real defenses the suit has is the alloy...and it's barely above average mobility that's at it's best on solid ground at nearly 140 kilometers an hour on the ground, 90 in flight and...well, the less said about being stuck underwater the better. All of this leads up to...

    • It may be true that Inferno can automatically and gradually repair damage it sustains, but the process is both a gradual one and unless cancelled out, it will drain power from it's reactor that would better used for firing weapons or movement if it and Ren are in the thick of things. Even worse is that manual repairs done by a crew are mostly a waste of time, maintenance and fine-tuning is considerably difficult and any possible upgrades would be next to impossible to implement.

  • Weapons:

    • 1-1414 Glower Rifle: A rifle manufactured by Annetts Corp. Modified to function in different modes, it fires ionic lasers, either in rapid fire to temporarily disrupt enemy electronics/systems for a few fleeting moments or a more focused blast which is far more likely to disable anything that takes a direct shot for much longer. Although the weapon still deals minor damage when the limiters are removed, the power output is still increased making a complete system freeze a more terrifying possibility.

    • Pyroclasm Shoulder Cannon/Draconic Driver: Capable of launching slugs of heated plasma, these projectiles do...surprisingly little damage on impact (much to Hellion's dismay when the limiters are in place). On the other hand, like the Glower Rifle, it's more for disabling an enemy mech's systems, in this case, by forcing the suit to overheat, meaning the pilot has to risk breaking down from the system crashing from too much heat or burn energy to try and vent some of the heat to remain functional. While G.L.A.D is active on other hand, this weapon functions more like a napalm launcher and lobs super-heated clusters that explode.

  • Equipment/Abilities: The suit is fitted with the typical environmental controls, keeping the pilot inside insulated from harsh weather, temperatures on either end of the extreme, filters in fresh oxygen and quite resilient to incredible pressure levels. On the other hand, as mentioned before, it's poorly equipped to underwater/submerged combat having incredibly poor maneuverability in those sorts of situations. The basics are also covered, from scanners, com-links and a digital/holographic display informing the pilot of the suit's current condition...if 'Hellion' isn't bluntly telling them already,

    • Flash's Glow: Heating up the molecules in Inferno's armor, the structure of the entire suit is reinforced and tempered, as it were, making it more capable of shrugging off considerable damage for a few brief moments. While this gives Inferno more durability, the fact it lasts for only several seconds and burns through energy quickly, it's difficult to use.

    • G.L.A.D Override: In the event that Ren is incapacitated or a pilot that 'Hellion' holds with incredible disdain tries to fly the suit, he...it will take complete control of the suit along with lifting the safety limiters on all available weaponry that's still functional although in this stage, it's targeting systems suffer unless it's in close-quarters. If presented with unfavorable odds, it will retreat, prioritizing it's pilot's safety.

  • Personality: If there's one thing about the mecha that stands out, it's the 'Artificial Intelligence' on board in that most people wouldn't consider it a friendly one considering it's...his attitude. Abrasive, short-tempered, pessimistic and quite snarky. ...On the other hand, 'Hellion' is surprisingly supportive of it's partner...and startlingly efficient when it comes to determining exchange rates for various currencies. It has little patience for those who it considers to be headaches and calling it 'Mr.Grumpy' is ill-advised. ...As does assuming that he...it actually cares beneath the fiery, easily irritable surface.

History: Much like it's 'owner', information on Inferno is practically nil. Any possible data in the suit's mainframe is encrypted and 'Hellion' refuses access to it. So for the time being, there's nothing that can be done.

Pilot Signup:

  • Name: D'Angelo "Angel" Halle
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 26
  • Race: Human with cybernetic enhancements
  • Appearance: D'Angelo is 6' 3'', black skinned, and has a lean runners build. He has long black hair, done up in thin dreads and often tied back. He has green eyes and has a series of metal circular nodes running from the small of his back to the base of his neck. He's usually always in his piloting suit, a skin tight black outfit with openings for his nodes, but usually wears something over it, usually t shirts and some kind of baggy pants.
  • Personality: D'Angelo is fairly outgoing and is quick to strike up a conversation, but doesn't really get close to people, partially out of a wariness of people he doesn't know and the dangers that come with it. Though once he does get close, he is fiercely loyal and protective of his friends and will sometimes even dote on them, cooking meals for them on a whim and offering assistance whenever they need it. Another thing is his incredible thriftyness; he will often take the cheapest option when he has to, and has a habit of deploying equipment on his mech based on how much it would cost to replace or reload.
  • Traits and Abilities:
    • Cybernetics: D'Angelo's cybernetics include an interface system for his mech, which allows him to control either part of or all of it's systems with his own nervous system, improving it's reaction time and combat abilities. He also has cybernetically reinforced organs and limbs to help him resist high g forces that come with high maneuverability operations.
    • Gymnastics: D'Angelo is an actually skilled gymnast, and uses these skills to assist in his piloting when linked to his suit.
  • Skills:
    • Cooking: D'Angelo loves to cook, with a bent towards spicy dishes and his momma's old home cooking.
    • Financial Planning His ability to budget expenses and balance a checkbook manually is only rivaled by his piloting ability.
  • Equipment:
    • CRC System Interface Suit: A two part suit for his mech. The inner suit is the one he often wears at all times, and is the one directly linked to his nodes. The outer suit is often left in his mech and is meant to protect his body from g forces and keep him anchored to the control system.
    • Thermite Pistol:A personal defense weapon meant to defend against power armor and give a slight chance against mechs. It's ammo is pretty expensive, so D'Angelo tries to avoid using it outside of real emergencies
  • Background: Raised in a poor wandering colony, D'Angelo lucked into meeting a piloting talent scout for United Armaments, a weapon development company, and after displaying an aptitude for piloting became a test pilot for them. Continuing to grow in skill, he eventually became one of the main testers for their more secretive and expensive projects. It's during one of these test flights for the XSCM-73 Corona, a suit with a new type of power source and engine, that United Armaments was raided by authorities and most of the important members of staff arrested for embezzlement, bribery, and other white collar crime, while most of the companies files were seized. Curiously, the Corona, D'Angelo, and other aspects of the secret division was not included in the company files, leaving both him and the mech on their own. Without a job and in possession of an unknown mech, he turned to bodyguard work and other mercenary work to keep himself fed and the Corona maintained. Realizing that he needed better combat experience and more consistent maintenance, D'Angelo joins ARMOR, partially paid for by an old friend from UA. Unfortunately for him however, a number of former UA leaders have put a large black market bounty on him and the Corona around the same time, so D'Angelo has taken to keeping an eye open at all times.

Mecha Signup

  • Name: XSCM-73 "Corona"
  • Appearance: Familiar? It's about 14 Meters tall.
  • Mobility: Using the corona energy engine and a pair of wing binders on the back of the mech, the Corona can attain high speeds in both space and atmosphere, and with the addition of numerous verniers can perform graceful maneuvers to dodge incoming fire. However, maintaining too high of speeds or performing too many high speed maneuvers places strain on the pilot despite the numerous protections, and can even lead to injury.
  • Defenses: Since it's a test unit, the Corona lacks true armor, and while D'Angelo has added light armor in response, the most the suit can resist is small scale munitions and weak beam weaponry. Otherwise the only defense the mech has is it's agility.
  • Weapons:
    • Assault Railgun: A semi automatic railgun that holds 10 slugs per clip. Normally needing to be charged after each shot, using the power of the corona engine it is provided enough power to maintain a charge and become truly semiauto. A favorite of D'Angelo due to it's good balance of maintenance costs, ammo cost, and damage potential.
    • Grenade Launcher: A break action grenade launcher that can fire various kinds of grenades. The Corona carries 5 rounds in total, mixing and matching from the following:
      • High Explosives: It goes boom and is used for general anti ship and anti mech combat.
      • Flak Rounds: Far less useful against large targets, it is devastating against soft targets.
      • EMP Flak: Used to disable craft and facilitate escapes by scrambling sensors.
      • Full Metal Rounds: Just a giant hunk of metal, it does devastating damage at ultra close range, but quickly loses momentum at any range outside of it.
    • Chest mounted chainguns: Used for close combat and anti ordnance, it doesn't do much against big targets.
    • Weapon pods: After market weapon pods mounted on the thighs and shoulders. They come in the following:
      • Heat Seeking Missile: Coming in 4 per pod, it uses either heat or radar locking to home in on targets
      • Dumbfire Missiles: 8 per pod, they can't track targets, but are more numerous and destructive when fired in mass.
      • Gatling Gun Pods: 3 per pod, far less effective than the others, but it can still damage most targets due to rate of fire alone. Also the cheapest to use and can be reloaded and reused
  • Equipment
    • CRC Interface system: A piloting system that uses the pilot's nervous system to assist in the operation of the suit, it stands for Complete Reaction Control. It can either be used in "Partial Mode" to give additionally reaction time in everyday operation, or in "Full Mode" where all operations are turned over to the pilot's nervous system, giving it amazing reaction time and agility. However, doing so provides strain on the pilot, with full mode even more dangerous and can leave it's pilot incapacitated once it releases.
    • Wing Binders: Large wing type thrusters, providing large amounts of propulsion on short notice by opening up and firing, or can be closed and used to maintain high speeds. Can be ejected or replaced with after market backpack weapons, but loses it's trademark agility.
    • Wires: Mounted on the hips and the left forearm, the wires can be used to assist in high maneuverability combat or to bind foes. Can be retracted or ejected on deployment.
  • History: The Corona started life as a test bed for the corona energy reactor engine, an engine that harnesses plasma to provide near limitless energy. A secret project, a full production version Corona was meant to be sold to elite private operators and autonomous special forces, however in their zealousness to sell to these forces, UA trampled one too many people and earned the ire of authorities. Now stuck to D'Angelo, it provides him with a tool to earn a living. However, like it's pilot, it has a black market bounty on it for it's destruction or capture.

Pilot Signup

  • Name: Zayanilthia Etraeano Nestuyin (goes by Zae)

  • Gender: Female

  • Age: 19

  • Race: Cartonans – A race of humanoids resembling humans with animal features

  • Appearance: Zae is a girl of rather tomboyish stature, standing at about 5’ 2”. She has a few bestial features, such as claws on her hands, long pointed ears covered in soft fur, and feet in between paws and human like feet, and finally a wolflike tail. Her eyes are green with slit pupils, and her waist reaching hair and the fur covered parts of her body are a scarlet red. She often wears a tank-top under a Terran style Bomber Jacket, skinny jeans, and modified combat boots to accommodate for her specific type of feet.

  • Personality: Despite being unable to speak, Zae is definitely not lacking for personality. She is highly intelligent, especially when it comes to machines. She is generally chilled out and relaxed, but has a bit of a filthy mouth, technically speaking, having a great knowledge of many rude and profane gestures in both Terran ASL and Cartonan. She does have a pretty friendly and loyal disposition, sticking close to her friends.

  • Traits and Abilities: Slightly higher strength than a human, advanced senses of smell and hearing.

  • Skills: Is good at working with machines, and is proficient in Sign Language. Has a wide knowledge of offensive gestures for Terrans and Cartonans. And piloting, obviously.

  • Equipment: Handheld AR view mini-tablet for analyzing machinery, and also the key for starting up her mech. DNA lock on activating it. Laser Pistol. Rope.

  • History: Zae was born to a relatively middle class family on Cartona, but had a birth defect that had messed up her vocal cords to the point where she was rendered mute from birth. However, this never really seemed to slow her down. She learned what she needed to communicate, and then some. As she grew up, she found she had a natural talent for working with machines, and looking at the recent developments in technology towards mechs and pilots, she decided on her goal. She would make the best damn mech in the universe, and pilot it. She recognizes that not everyone knows ASL, and that it is not the best method of tactical communication when it comes to unit fighting, so she has also adapted to using tech to speech software to communicate when she needs it. Though she has a tendency to type too fast and make typos, sometimes causing some issues in the readout.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: Silentium Luna

  • Appearance: Base appearance looks like this: http://imgur.com/a/GbfIb , though the colors are different, such as the yellow bits being silver, the main color being black and the reds and blues are replaced with a glowing energy like blue color. The fingers are also a little bit more elongated, and the general stature of the mech is a bit more bestial.

  • Mobility: SL is a highly mobile mecha with all terrain combat in mind. It is positioned with thrusters on the legs and the back, as well as waist and elbows. Such positioning allows it to make more wild and unpredictable adjustments in its movements, and allows mobility to be at a high output.

  • Defenses: SL is unfortunately what could generally be classified as a Glass Cannon type Mecha. Its destructive force and mobility are high, but its defenses suffer as a result. It is lightly armored, equipped with enough to withstand a moderate amount of abuse. But its best defense is generally ripping through enemy units.

  • Weapons: The place where the SL particularly accels. Zae made sure to equip her Mecha with a wide array of different offensive options in the form of various packs that can be swapped out.

    • Loudout Pack “Megaera”: A heavily melee oriented weapon pack that focuses largely on giving the SL long beam claws from its hands. Also presents beam blades on the back of SL, the front of SL’s head almost like horns.

    • Loudout Pack “Catastrophe”: This pack is a long range decimation set, focused on a large energy cannon with a massive output of firepower. As a downside, this pack limits the melee capabilities of the SL, making it incredibly vulnerable to rushdowns. Use only recommended when deployed with teammates.

    • Loadout Pack “Eclipse”: Whereas the Fenrir Pack focuses on ripping through as many enemies as it can in a wild fashion, the Eclipse pack focuses on a more single target oriented loadout. It consists of a gauntlet like additional armor piece that attaches to the left arm of the SL, and contains two minor size beam cannons, and the right arm is given a large physical sword that is superheated to cut effortlessly through enemy units.

    • Bit Drones “Jupiter IV”: 4 drones individual of the loadout packs meant to assist the SL in any situation. They each have a similar equipment of a small barrier shield, a beam cannon, and beam blade edges. Zae also gave the four drones names: Waft, Bolt, Breeze and Fleet.

  • Abilities: Has an advanced targeting system and enhanced communication system to more easily transmit messages to ally units.

  • History: Simply put, Zae felt like making a mech. She had always been good with machinery, almost like a prodigy, and with the help of some of the people in her city, she eventually completed the Silentium Luna. Due to the rather straightforward instincts of her race, it did of course end up a fair bit focused on damage and mobility, sacrificing defense for more opportunities to rip and tear.

Just let me know if you're iffy about anything.

I know most people would not really be too excited about a mute character, but i do have experience with rping such characters and I felt that the text to speech device would help as well as provide for some hilarious opportunities.

Pilot Signup

  • Name: Danny Blake
  • Gender: Man
  • Age: 1027 (Technically 24)
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: Technically too old for this shit
  • Personality: Being stuck in Cryostasis for over a thousand years kind of puts a damper on life and Danny hasn't been taking it well. While normally a fairly cheerful, vibrant and friendly guy, Danny has grown incredibly bitter about his current state. Only really caring about material wealth and the catharsis he feels when he pilots Gunnar, Danny will gladly shove aside anyone who will try to stop him from doing what he loves. When it comes to interacting with others, Danny tends to be incredibly snarky and is quite prone to making snide remarks or less than subtle insults if he really doesn't care for whoever he's speaking to.
  • Traits/Abilities: Absolutely nothing of note.
  • Skills: Danny's a pretty decent shot with solid projectile firearms and can hold his own in close combat if needed. In a pinch, Danny is a fairly decent chef, albeit with some incredibly outdated recipes. Danny also has a bit of a knack for improvising solutions to technical problems which has proven useful when piloting Gunnar
  • Equipment:
    • One handy, high caliber sidearm [1]
    • A compact shotgun kept inside of Gunnar for emergencies
    • A knife
    • A handheld hologram projector that allows for Danny to communicate with Ransom when not piloting Gunnar
  • Background: To put it bluntly, Danny's had a less than enjoyable 1,000 or so years. After signing up for a bit of medical testing when he was short on money, Danny found himself becoming one of many guinea pigs for testing out an experimental form of Cryogenic freezing. Being told that he would only be frozen for a week at the most, Danny begrudgingly agreed to the tests. Unfortunately, due to a minor clerical error Danny ended up not being unfrozen on schedule and in fact completely forgotten about for a little more than 1,000 years or so until some poor intern finally stumbled across Danny's cryopod and discovered that it was, in fact, not empty as had been believed for the past ten centuries. After being thawed and compensated for his inconvenience, Danny ended up splurging most of his money and buying a moderately used giant robot, plus armaments and an AI to help him get adjusted to this unfamiliar new world. Quickly discovering that he wasn't all that great at piloting his newfound awesome giant robot (though he found that he was a decent shot with it's guns), Danny decided to try and enroll into ARMOR. Paying for tuition with the vast majority of his Medical compensation money, Danny managed to lie, bribe and shoot his way through the vast majority of the entrance tests (only really shining when he got to make use of Gunnar's guns). Now a member of ARMOR, Danny intends to do two things with his life; cause a lot of explosions, and buy himself a steak made out of real beef.

Mecha Signup

  • Mecha Name: Gunnar
  • AI Name: Ransom
  • Mech Appearance: Big mech, big guns
  • AI Appearance: As subtle as a nuclear bomb to the gonads
  • Mobility: Due both to Gunnar being a fairly old mech and also being designed primarily for engaging in purely firearm based combat, Gunnar isn't terribly mobile compared to most other mechs, preferring to focus on being able to keep stability when firing its incredibly high caliber guns.
  • Defences: The main cause of Gunnar's lack of mobility is how heavily armored it is. Designed to be able to take as much damage as it can dish out (if not more), Gunnar can shrug off most sources of damage not designed to pierce heavy armor. Gunnar also possesses a fairly weak shield that can stop most weak energy weapons, though it has a tendency to get overloaded fairly quickly under sustained damage.
  • Weapons:
    • The KEM-19 Machine Gun is Gunnar's primary weapon. A high caliber and incredibly powerful machine gun, the KEM-19 is capable of extended bouts of sustained fire as long as the wielder can handle the gun's incredible recoil. Danny keeps the KEM-19 loaded with armor piercing rounds and nothing else.
    • The ANS-97 is Gunnar's sidearm. Slow firing and incredibly powerful, this revolver kicks like a mule and has difficulty hitting targets outside of short ranges. The ANS-97 can be either loaded with regular magnum rounds or shotgun shells as the situation demands.
  • Equipment/Abilities:
    • Gunnar is equipped with a reinforced head and knuckles intended for striking if the situation demands.
    • Upon purchasing the mech, Danny had a top of the line sound system installed as well as external speakers.
  • Personality: Ransom is first and foremost Danny's guide to the modern world, and thus is quite knowledgeable on many subjects, be it non-human races and their customs or various forms of interstellar travel. However, Ransom is a tad aggressive when it comes to communication and doesn't exactly have an "inside voice" per se, primarily relaying information in short, shouted sentences when riled (usually in combat or other times of stress). In less stressful situations, Ransom is quiet, collected and fairly relaxed, sometimes even philosophical.
  • History: Gunnar is one of many mass-produced military model mechs that sadly became quickly obsolete a few years after their production. Gunnar was originally a model that made its way onto the civilian market and ended up in hands of a young man who really shouldn't have been in possession of a military grade mech. Said young man ended up getting more than a few PUI (Piloting Under the Influence) tickets and had his Mech confiscated by the Authorities and later put up for auction. Said auction was later attended by Danny Blake where he managed to get the winning bid on Gunnar.
