Persona 5- Spoiler Zone

I do think the audience is meant to feel ahead of the protagonist, it makes the whole post interrogation experience very satisfying.

I think the thieves would have figured out something was awry even without the pancakes thing. Mainly with Goro having that precise date he wanted it on. Combined with him blackmailing them, I don't feel they'd trust him at all. Hell, they didn't trust Makoto in that same situation until she really proved themselves in their eyes. Goro meanwhile was still really suspicious and even before the persona stuff from him, they had their guard up.

Honestly it made it fairly unsatisfying to me, because they spent like an hour explaining things I'd already figured out, in way too much depth. Not to mention that it's followed by the single worst-written scene in the game, and possibly in modern gaming history: when the two villains monologue their plan at each other, that they both already know, entirely for the benefit of the audience. Like, the game didn't even need this scene, since the characters have to learn all this stuff later anyway.

Yeah I think they would at least figure that he was probably up to something. The pancake thing just pushed it into "He's definitely up to something" territory.

So does Joker actually... do anything as the leader of the Thieves? It seems like for all intents and purposes the actual leader is Makoto.

I presume he's the Face Of The Band and their leader in combat.

He decides when they'll enter the Palaces. That's pretty important.

He's easily the best fighter. Given what they do, that should be more than enough reason (same for Yu). What I'm still not sure of is why Minato remained the field leader once Mitsuru stopped being the navigator.

He also supplies their weapons & medicine.

He's also the one who tells people what to do, Makoto & Futaba provide input but he gives orders.

I didn't figure Goro out because I had forgotten about the Pancake line after I heard it days ago during my first playthrough.

Hmm, good question... Well, he's a founder, their final decision maker, and so on. Makoto is the tactician. Sometimes leadership means putting people in the right place. Could see it like in One Piece where Luffy is the captain, but delegates things outside of key moments and is the strongest fighter.

Also, yeah, that scene with Shido and Goro was AWFUL! Like... Holy shit that was such badly done exposition. It legitimately made me anger and stop to rant to my writing group for short time about how it's the worst way to handle exposition and I was sad this came after such a cool con.

What really gets me about the Goro and Shido scene was that the scenes with the VI Ps in the Cruise Ship handled the plan explosion far more elegantly, with contextually fitting explanations at the right time, even slowly building up to the fight with Goro himself.

Although I wouldn't call it the worst written scene in modern gaming when Fire Emblem Fates Conquest exists.

Potter also makes a good deal of things they use in the Palace, and is the one who talks with the likes of Mishima on a regular basis and the skills he uses for traversing the Palace and dealing with demons in negotiations.

Makoto also wasn't there from the beginning so having her become the leader cause she's a tactician is kinda pushing her role to be honest.

All three routes had some equally stupid writing. Conquest just Had more of it.

Regarding Mitsuru's case. I presume by that time Minato^note Again I'm using the Manga name because of One-Steve Limit, thought the discussion might be moot on any potential P3/P5 crossovers has more recent experience with Tartarus and how it works. But my memory on whether or they traveled beyond the green zone of the tower before the game starts is admittedly a little hazy.

Minato was the one who spent all the time switching AI orders for the first 2 blocks, Mitsuru never did any of that.

Of course Yu and Joker hit the direct commands button from the first battle.

I sometimes like to set AI orders up on games that let you do so.

But it's not a good idea to do it in P5, because they never seem to Baton Pass, or consider conserving gun ammo.

Yesterday I got Soul Chain from Network fusion Save Scumming. This morning I finally got Magic Ability from doing the same thing! Now all I need is Almighty Amp and I'll have every non DLC skill.

Finally done making specialized builds out of Ardha (Nuclear), Shiva (Psychic), Black Frost (Ice), Vishnu (Wind), Baal (Physical), and Surt (Fire). Since my new Super Arsene covers Gun, and I'm holding off on Odin for a special purpose, I think I'm all set to finish New Game Plus. On to Palace 7.

How do you get super Arsene?

Max out Stregnth and Agility, them focused on having higher Luck for better critical hit rates. My Arsene is a Gun focused build:

One Shot Kill
Riot Gun
Apt Pupil
Snipe
Cripple
Charge
Drain Bless
Repel Ice

Beginning the viewing of the 7th Palace.

I was hoping for a Pirate ship.

So, is Persona 5 the darkest of the Subseries yet, or is Persona 2's duology still darker?

I also have a feeling that Persona 6 will be handled by a new team. The current team took over after the previous team did 3 games, so its a possibility that something similar could happen for Persona 6.

We already know that it's going to be a new team because the people who worked on it have said in interviews that they're moving to "Team Zero" to work on brand new IPs, specifically a new fantasy game that they've mentioned before. Atlus is actually hiring replacements for Team Two right now. They've put up a whole thing about it.

Team One is mainline SMT and Etrian Odyssey and such.

2 is definitely darker. It doesn't even really beat 3. While 5 deals with darker themes than 3, it's not as relentlessly melancholic and way more optimistic.
