Also, my Gun Build Arsene is basically done with now. 99 ST and Ag is all I really wanted, plus having more Lu that En or Ma.

Anyone else think that P5 Guy has both more character and more flaws than his P3 and P4 counterparts? It's subtle, but it's there.

Yes.

I feel like they really bumped up their game with Joker.

Makoto/Minato and Yu both paved the way for him though. The Hero of P5 wouldn't be who he is if not for his predecessors paving the way.

No, but then that's because I'm incapable of seeing them beyond their Blank Slate roles.

On another note, I just fished out The Ichigaya Guardian!

EDIT: I've also completed every non-story related Confidant, so that's that.

It comes through for me too. He doesn't feel like a blank slate to me, really. There's plenty of times I do get a sense of personality and character to him. A part of me wonders at times if I've just over thought his quietness, as it feels more apart of his efforts to lay low and how he keeps to himself.

It helps that he actually does talk sometimes.

So, a few in game days ago I hit the money cap of 9,999,999 yen. Since I'm in the last month of the game in New Game Plus, and I have nothing better to now that I can beat the game at level 80 just be progressing to the last few dungeons, I decided to make special Persona builds for each of the strongest unique skills.

I wonder - is it possible to skip Kaneshiro's dungeon if you can somehow actually raise 3,000,000 yen by then?

[up][up][up]Even if the game let you, you'd probably end up with Kaneshiro Moving the Goalposts, and demanding beyond the money cap amounts of cash. Besides, would you really want to leave someone like him to his own devices?

Joker has a pretty cool character in how I see him.

He smirks all the time & especially after any success meaning he is a man who enjoys his power & his having the time of his life. His body-language gives a too-cool for school vibe & his constant theatrics as the Phantom again makes it very clear he is having the time of his fucking life. In the Velvet Room you can tell he is pretty much shitting himself & terrified at the idea of being in a jail cell till he better acclimates over time.

Joker is definitely one cool cat.

I feel obliged to point out that Persona 1 and 2 had protagonists too. tongue

I was under the impression that the protagonist of the original trilogy were fully fleshed out characters who aren't self inserts. In that case they don't count as silent protagonist in the way that those of the new trilogy do.

The hero of P1 was another silent Protagonist, but Tatsuya had something of a personality even in Innocent Sin (he did have a default name after all), and it was only expanded in Eternal Punishment where he was no longer the main hero.

Anyway, I just finished the 6th Palace, aka Sae's dungeon after getting my internet back:

Holy shit. They played Goro and hard. But it's scary to think that a single mistake he made months earlier was the only reason they were even suspicious of him. If not for that, he'd have won with ease. That kid is cuckoo for Cocoa puffs though. I'm wonder if he also plans to eliminate Shido later.

The plan to trick Gorou was pretty incredible, but I'm also surprised that he actually brought those Police Officers into the Metaverse. I assumed they were somehow part of Sae's cognition. I was also completely off about the interrogation. I was right about him being in the Metaverse, but wrong at the same time (he was back in the real world, and only re-entered it in the moment before Goro killed him.

Goro...oh god, Goro. He ain't even a real detective. He's like the reverse Naoto, what with just using his supernatural powers to fake detective skills as opposed to having detective skills then gaining supernatural powers. Man, this has been a crazy ride.

Edit: Blanked out the name of the person's dungeon. It was an error on my part to leave the name in.

I guess so.

I gotta say, I'm just horrifically disappointed. But I guess they'd already done the teen detective thing, so there was no need to do it again.

I'm only disappointed because it leaves several elements uncovered by a party member. I couldn't care less about Akechi.

For me, I figured out Goro before he showed up in the game. He was on he back of the steel case and wasn't on he inside with everyone else. I also figured there was more to the interrogation; though, I was assuming that it was a ploy to get at an actual target. Not to trick a target.

I'm kind of surprised that more people don't figure the pancake thing out prior to it being mentioned (or at least don't talk about it). True, I've known about that twist (and the others) since the Japanese release date but that still seemed like a fairly standout thing.

It amuses me more when people don't figure out the con. Then again, this is my favorite genre combined with rule based magic, so I might be captive to these things.

1) It's a crime story with a narrative. Don't trust what you see.

2) The fuzzy memory part.

3) Sae's palace didn't fall apart after they left, violating the pattern the others setup.

4) Futaba taking Goro's phone. Never give a hacker your phone.

5) Makoto's comments on the police station and later asking her sister about the interrogation room. Combined with the lack of destruction of her palace, I deduced they didn't really steal the treasure and instead setup the palace as their variant on the big store. When I factored in how realistic her cognitive shadows appeared, that gave me the last needed piece.

A part of me wonders if they did telegraph Goro to obscure the con. It's something I'd consider, if I were in their shoes. Give them a captain obvious reveal that makes the audience feel superior and ahead of the protagonist, thus misdirecting them from the true reveal.

I must have glossed over the questions about the room. And for me, I had suspicions that led to a different outcome due to figuring out something was up real early in the game so that I put them to the back of my mind and the fuzzy memory bits were unusual that I didn't think it was due to the framing device till much, much later.

Oh it was a huge red flag. I do like how the characters didn't miss it like I assumed.

Agreed. That's what kinda made it for me. In most games, they'd forget something that obvious, so the fact that they remember that later is pretty cool. They really played us with that one.

3) Sae's palace didn't fall apart after they left, violating the pattern the others setup.

4) Futaba taking Goro's phone. Never give a hacker your phone.

I figured Futaba was just being Futaba. Which is probably why it worked. I admit, the Palace not collapsing like it was supposed to should have clued me in. I was really off on my assumptions.

I like how they brought back every little detail of their previous capers, going all the way back to the first palace. The fact that Sae's cognition of people within her own palace lacked any kind of distortion was a real boon.

Still, it's scary to think that Goro's plan might have gone off without a hitch if not for a single mistake he made months earlier. I'm curious if he's gonna remember it himself.
