Grant City - A Character crossover RP game (Signups/Interest checking)

This is inspired by Strat's Beacon City, which was sadly discontinued two years ago. I'd like to play the idea of a city where various characters from fiction ranging from anime/manga to live-action TV shows/movies co-mingle with one another in a City of Adventure in some fictional city. It's sort of a tribute to the failed RP.

The catch is that some character you'd chose may not fit in here. In that case, just feel free to ask if you think changes are needed in character's backstory to suffice. I won't bite.

While we'll have some subplots, I'm planning to tie up a big event that'll eventually serve as the big finale, if it ever comes.

Of course, questions/comments/suggestions/maybe violent reactions can and will be entertained, as long as you don't ask if a jerkass way.

The story takes place in Grant City, a city in the northwest region of the United States in King County just a few kilometers south of the US/Canadian border.

It's been a quiet city ever since it was established in the late 1800s. It's known for being the second city next to Seattle for the gold rush, the booming economy thanks to the offices of various multinational corporations that were set up in the city despite the slight shaky years thanks to the Great Depression and Prohibition. However, it suffered from a slight earthquake, followed by the recession which left 10% before the economy boomed again, making it drop to 6%.

The slight recession felt by the city make the place a good target for criminals and other nasty elements to set up shop, making it a growing violent city in the county. But from time to time, there were people who fought to defend the people and the city, ranging from those who served in the police force to vigilantes in its history. Some continued to serve on, others either have retired or have continued to work in private security capacities or still moonlight from time to time.

But beneath the efforts to clean up the streets and revitalize the city with economic development once more, something else was being placed into motion. Something that would affect the future of Grant City. It's said to be traced back to the city's establishment.

• Background: A Time Lord from the planet Galifrey, the Doctor was considered an embarrassment by the rest of the Time Lords, as while the rest were content to remain isolationist from the Universe, the Doctor stole a TARDIS, and set off, exploring the universe, and saving it on multiple occasions, lending a hand wherever he could.

• And then came the Last Great Time War. Between the Time Lords, and the Daleks. As the universe burned, and time itself was threatened, the Doctor was forced to do the unthinkable: he wiped out both species. The Daleks, the Time Lords, Skaro, Galifrey, all burned. Thus, was the Doctor left the Last of the Time Lords.
• Personality: On the outside, the Doctor has a cocky, cheerful attitude, carefree and compassionate. Underneath, however, he is a burdened soul, who has done a great many things in his many lives. He has earned a reputation as the most feared and dangerous being in the universe, a man who has burned whole worlds. He values humanity to a fault, and cares very deeply for children. When enraged, however, he projects tranquil fury, watching as the offender who earned his wrath is cast down. He is very intelligent, and can't help being impressed by all kinds of technology, no matter what it is used for.
• Gear: One sonic screwdriver, which can do a great many things. Psychic paper, which projects whatever he wants people to see when he uses it, or whatever they choose to see. And his TARDIS, which has a vast storage of information.

I have no idea what a hot link is. Enlighten me.

Basically you're just using the link to the image, which takes up bandwidth.

Can you get a link from the Doctor Who wiki?

Sure.

Just get the link up on your signup sheet. I'll look it up again later.

Kinda hard when you are using a phone.

If you got access to a desktop later on, then it's fine.

Otherwise, I'll need an alternative to the image link you have.

But so far, the 10th Doctor's okay. I may need to make sure whether he needs to be nerfed down a bit in terms of gear.

That has actually happened a few times before. The TARDIS goes missing, the screwdriver gets broken...

• Name: Chin Hon-to
• Appearance: For reference
• Origin: Tiger Cubs
• Background: Chin Hon-to was a Senior Inspector in the Hong Kong Police Force's Special Duties Unit. While serving as Alpha Team's commanding officer, he struggled with his two failed relationships over the course of his assignment. He faced off against the worst of criminal and terrorists the force has faced, including the invasion of SDU headquarters by a rogue CIA agent. He left the force a few months after he recovered from injuries sustained in the attack, deciding to rebuild his life. He offered to help his grandfather settle in Grant City, but he chose to live with other relatives in the SAR. Chin is employed by a security company as a security specialist. Rumors have mentioned that he's hired to be a private detective, but they have never been confirmed.
• Personality: Chin's a very nice man, who's loyal to his family and his fellow officers. He doesn't tolerate anyone who breaks the rules or tries to use his or her seniority to do whatever they want. He also doesn't want to do things that are against his norms or against protocol, a result of his time serving in the force unless he's given no choice.
• Gear: His clothes/gear vary, but he usually carries a 4th Generation Glock 17 as his main sidearm of choice with a collapsible ASP-type baton as his close quarters weapon.
• Comments: I'm basing on his age as 47 (2015), which is the time that the show's second season aired.

So, I ask, the world this RP is taking place in is essentially a Fusion Fic, right? The canons and backstories of all the characters currently at play are all true, and all took place on the same world/universe? That's what I assume, based on the lack of mention of BRO Bs and inter-dimensional shenanigans.

'Cause if so, I'm afraid it might get a little clusterfuck-y, especially regarding the more sci-fi/fantasy-oriented characters.

True. That can happen.

I remember that in the Beacon City RP, some of the peeps who joined in just improvised and carefully edited their backstories so that their appearances in the city would make sense since it has the feel of an Urban Fantasy-type story.

Not holding my breath in case this bump after a month or so can't work.
