Yeah, I think we could have problems illustrating this. Some ideas: 2◊

I think to properly illustrate this you'd need to show the parents too.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I think Gaea's Skyfolk is alright. One of the rare occasions that the text of a Magic card actually helps.
2 is good enough, methinks
The suggestion in 2 works, I think.
(Annoyed grunt)I think there's the danger of Fan Myopia with option 2. Even with the text, it doesn't tell me that the character is born of two races. That could just be some flowery poetic language describing the abilities of the creature for all I know. If you weren't talking about it on this thread, I'd never know that's a hybrid. I know nothing about the parental races to tell me why the text is such a good description.
I agree with the poster who said it's probably going to need the hybrid character alongside examples of their parental races. It doesn't have to be their parents - it can just be examples to show what the pure-blooded races look like that emphasise the character in question is half-and-half.
Edited to add: Perhaps combining the existing image with something like this [1]◊, (her father (Cardassian) and her guardian (Bajoran - same species as her mother)). It's illustrative, I know it doesn't show Kira's nose very well.
I screenshotted from my DVD and combined a couple of images as an example [2], with a caption along the lines of:
"Her talent rivals the greatest Cardassian and Bajoran artists, with which she hopes to bring both worlds together... she's only got their history of occupation and terrorism to overcome first."

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Clock is set.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report2 is fine. You can clearly see both "Elf" and "Merfolk", and it works better than trying to explain a still shot from a TV series.
Maybe something like this? To show the "Non-human hybrid" aspect
Twitter/Instagram: anzasquiddles. Deviantart: anzahanifathallah. That works for me.
And me.
(Annoyed grunt)to 10 as well.
10 is alright.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Yeah, "Elf Merfolk" is as clear as it can get with using just one image.
Not sure about a caption. It can be fine without one,
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI can go with no caption.
(Annoyed grunt)Yeah, I think it's good without a caption. Locking up.
Really a textbook JAFAAC.
Also, the Rubber-Forehead Alien aspect doesn't help with the "non-human" part of the trope.
Not sure this can be easily illustrated, though.
