So I spent the morning doing that◊.
Only for the ends to get hacked off by the printer◊. =/
"Yup. That tasted purple."My twin and I are going as Dipper and Mabel for NY Comic Con in October and I figured I should start on Mabel's grappling hook now since it might take a bit. I've never made a prop from scratch for cosplay before. I'm trying to find cheap materials that would hold up.
Not quite the tutorial I was waiting for, but it will help.
So! I now have until October 21 to get the next costume: Fate/Grand Order's Assassin, the Phantom of the Opera!◊ The clawed gloves look to be simple enough, being a very easy replace job of red gloves onto the plastic claws of a Freddy Kreuger glove from the store. The suit will have to be embroidered by hand, as well as the cape and shoulder pieces. Probably going to hack up two suit coats to make it look good. Oh well.
Anyone have a good source for men's wigs? Or alternatively, a good way to make relatively simple wigs with home materials?
Prepare to joust, buzzard bait.I think a lot of people recommend https://www.epiccosplay.com/ for wigs and stuff in the US.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well at least it's a simple idea this time◊.
"Yup. That tasted purple."So now there's actual sewing patterns for the female Pokémon Go trainer.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Hmm, I was planning on getting some facepaint for a She Hulk halloween costume. Amazon seems to have quite a good selection, but I don't know what shade would work best.
Any suggestions (I'll need a base, a darker green for contorting and a lighter one for highlighting)?
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerGrass Green to base, Dark Green to shade and Bright Green to highlight? (Although according to the reviews the greens in there stain fabric like a motherfucker.)
Meanwhile I ordered a pair of these tights in Honey for this costume, but now I can't find bias trim or fabric in the same shade of yellow-orange.

"Yup. That tasted purple."I don't think staining will be a problem (my uniform's black and synthetic anyway).
In the end I just ordered all the shades I could, so I can experiment a bit.
EDIT: Wait, you meant skin.
Well, a day of slightly green skin afterwards is all part of the fun.

In related news, my tights came◊, so I guess it's time to start ordering swatches.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Ah the joys of being on a student budget and having an exchange rate recently collapse.

"Yup. That tasted purple."I'm procrastinating so badly on starting this grappling hook. I've got under a month. I still don't know what materials I'm using :/
found this on a search, might be helpful?
in the event i go through with my hypothetical mimikyu costume, does anyone have a good base pattern for some kind of poncho?
off the shitsThe bottom bit isn't too hard. Just take your fabric, fold it into quarters, cut out one of the corners to make a neck hole then finish the edge.
Not sure what the equation for working out how much fabric you need is. ^.^;
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well, here's my Shulk makeup test.◊ I'm pretty happy so far. I just need to practise contouring a bit more.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerYup, it's not easy.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerSo I made the thing. Now I just need stuff to put on it.
"Yup. That tasted purple."New arrival◊. Breaking tradition by doing a Western thing rather than a Japanese thing.
"Yup. That tasted purple."AHHHHHH Comic Con is next week AHHHHHHHHH
My cosplay should be done by then. I've just got to make some quick touch ups, and my sis is almost done sewing decals on her sweater
Thought this might be worth sharing.
