Hrm.

I guess I have to ask, in this hypothetical, are we assuming a thriving online fanbase for any online game?

In no particular order:

  • No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise. I love me some Suda 51, and this is probably his game with the most lasting appeal. It's got extra content from NMH 2, the sandbox of NMH 1, and pretty fun gameplay and a classic insane Suda story.
  • Yakuza... probably 5. Though if I had played them, I might say 0 or Kiwami, but alas I have not. Though their gameplay should theoretically be better than Y5, I can't say.
  • Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst: Like Yakuza 5, I'd be going for a later game in the series if they were out in America... but it's not, so I can't commit to it. But I've logged hundreds of hours into PSO so far, and I could honestly log a few hundred more.
  • Shenmue II: It just makes me happy.
  • Pokemon Y: Pokemon certainly has longevity, and as the newest one, it's probably what I'd go for. I didn't care for ORAS that much or I'd have gone with it (I just don't like the region).

Honorable mentions:

  • Destiny: Disqualified because... I haven't played it. But I think it'd just be a good contender for this list. I've heard it described as a Spiritual Successor to PSO so... yeah.
  • Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U: Disqualified because its entry is based solely on me having someone to play with at any given time. I love the game to pieces, but without the promise of local multiplayer, it's meh.
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: Disqualified because I've already played it to death to the point that I'm already having trouble finishing a replay. One of my favorite games of all time but it does get repetitive.
  • Persona 3: Disqualified because of a lack of replay value. It's a shame not including a SMT game in there, and this is my favorite (sorta) SMT game, but as a linear RPG without much customization, it'd get old pretty quickly.

Pointless, you were warned about making low-effort posts. We prefer that the Media forums be used for discussion of specific works, franchises, and creators. General topics are discouraged. This sort of thing belongs in Yack Fest.
