Ako straight up forgetting that the school started and sitting at home naked. [lol]

PvE an PvP usually require two different playstyles.

That siege... If this wiki allowed gifs for page images, that one scene would be perfect.

I lost count how many times we got a closeup of Master's boobs... not that I'm complaining.

Ako the head maid. That's oddly fitting.

If those mercenaries are lead by a guy using two swords who dresses all in black, that'd be hilarious.

Episode:

Well, he doesn't dress in black, but the guild leader actually uses twin swords. [lol]

How did those guys get such a good reputation as a mercenary guild if they betray their clients for shit and giggles?

Ako leveled up.

Embarrassed master is cute.

Meido clothes give +20 to charm for any girl.

Maybe if you bitches didn't push all the work on Ako, this wouldn't have happened.

So after last time they wanted to win by their own strength, with is why... they go around asking for help?

Master wins again with the power of money.

I felt real bad for our heroes this episode. Getting help from a stranger can really backfire on you depending on the circumstance.

Another Ranbuta reference this episode lol. Or rather, there were two: both the "ran-ran" part and the expression on Schew's face afterward.

[up][up] Probably because this is a small guild without any influence in the community.

Effing called it on the betrayal (OK, so it's not a Cavalry Betrayal but a Bodyguard Betrayal, but a betrayal is a betrayal, no matter what form it takes). Then again, that's to be expected of sellswords. Also, did they cast Yoshitsugu Matsuoka to voice the dual sword-wielding leader of the Wallenstein Guild?

Anyway, time to make new alliances with other guilds who aren't strangers to the Alley Cats guild... (Cue Nekohime's Elite Guard and the Black Magician's guild.)

On the brighter side of things... Meido uniforms!!

Sure, Akane may not be as well-endowed as Ako, Nanako or Kyou (though Funi's subs spell it "Kyoh" in this episode—need to look into that), but damn she's still cute in that outfit. (Also, pretty sure there are folks out there who like a tsundere maid...)

[up] Nope. Bats is voiced by Masuda Toshiki according to the credits. He's also voicing Kirishima in Boku No Hero Academia (the redhead with the Hardening quirk) this season.

Also, regarding "Kyou" versus "Kyoh". It's an issue of which system you use to romanise the Japanese text. It seems that they are different variants of Hepburn.

Episode 12:

The big battle. It was awesome, everyone gave their all and there was no one who didn't pull this weight. And in the end they of course won with the power of Master spending habits. [lol]

In the real world everyone also seems to have learned a lesson, with Ako becoming more confident and Russian and Swein not so obsessed with keeping games and life separate. Russian even calls Ako his wife. waii

This was a good finale to a series that proved to be a very pleasant surprise.

I missed out on this one before due to not watching much of anything, then I found the manga, read that, and found out it had an anime. So here I am.

Anyway, it's a rather nice series. Even if it's blatant wish fulfillment, and even if a large part of the character tension is due to absolutist stupidity, it still works thanks to good chemistry between the characters. All of them. They all tease each other. Even as much of a ditz Ako is, she still has her moments pulling legs just for giggles.

I found that the anime cut out a lot of the random conversations that didn't seem to lead anywhere, so it felt more directed towards something of a purpose, and overall better than the manga. Still, the manga has rather good art.

Ako is a mess of a character, but in a good way, and it saves her from being just a wish fulfillment character (which she is to a ridiculous extent, what with being a gamer completely devoted to the MC, good at cooking, having problems the MC has to fix, and a slice of yandere). She's a little bit insane, but despite her complete devotion to Rusian, it's not what defines her. She's still this social recluse of an ditzy gamer.

Rusian and Schwein are more similar than not. The former is open about being an otaku, and the latter isn't, but that's about it. They're still good friends who're on the same level and in sync most of the time. They both have this ridiculous on/off dichotomy about gaming that only seems pasted onto the story for some kind of drama. They're trying (and predictably failing completely) to take the stance that who you are in a game has nothing to do with how you are in real life. Which might be true if you're roleplaying (which, to be fair, Schwein is doing), but if you're using your own emotions even a little, then there's a connection to real life. Then there's Schwein's tsundere act. There are two part of it the way I see it, one bad and one good. One is that ridiculous idea that people knowing will doom her forever. I mean, the only negative effect actually shown from people knowing they're gamers is that Schwein can't handle other people knowing it. No one else actually seems to care. The other part is that she's basically a bro to Rusian. She has a tough act only as far as she knows he knows it's just an act, and they have a kind of relationship that's more common between guys.

I like that Nanako's involvement had more to do with Ako than with Rusian (which would be the typical in haremesque series). They also managed to remember that Nekohime's real life self wasn't known to Nanako until they actually told her. Otherwise, I find she's somewhat of an amalgam of a typical heroine character, and one of those two girls, which makes for someone rather interesting. She got a nice moment at the end with her little tricksy plan as well.

Nekohime is also one of the best teacher characters around. She makes for a far more enthusiastic student than anyone in the club. Which is somewhat appropriate, since she's more involved in the club than most teachers.

I also liked the Black Magician's response to the request, regarding what they got out of it: "It's could be fun." That's the purpose of games.

Finally, all characters, scammer aside, are basically decent people. Even antagonists can have nice sides.
