I kinda get the feeling they (the creators) were very aware of her anthro appeal, though probably more from a kawaii point of view than anything else.
Kei's such a laid back guy indeed. Surprising stuff, however, gets his heart moving.
Half-dog in the day, pure human at night, cute most of the time. That's Inukai for ya.
I feel genuinely bad for Inukai.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Considering her appearance in the OP (if that's indeed her), she probably doesn't have anything to worry about.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Yeah I did too actually. Since it really seemed to interfere with her day to day life I was hoping it'd be resolved by the end of the episode.
Actually Inukai's STILL stuck as a wolf-person during daytime in the manga, it's just that she's much more comfortable in her skin now and it doesn't bother her as much anymore. We're also given a general time frame now when it's supposed to wear off completely: roughly two years, which amusingly is the same length as Makoto's time will be in high school.
Episode 5: Chito GPS!
Familiars are cool.
Why does Nao gets so excited about love charms if she doesn't have anyone she likes?
Perhaps she thought it was a charm to find love, rather than a charm to get with your love interest, since the lady hadn't told her anything about the charms in question yet.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Episode 5: Let's follow Chito.
Makoto can be quite expressive at times. I like that.

Episode 6: Chinatsu wants to be a witch.
So the secret of not getting a sore butt while flying on a broom, is to just fly yourself while holding a broom? Why is the broom even necessary.
So flying pigs do exist.
Well, of course Chinatsu would like to become a witch after seeing how cool they are.
The parents are cool with anything.
A "small, independent movie" that she's too embarrassed to talk about, huh? That sounds interesting. Kei should try and find it.
Snack magic!
That scene where Chinatsu is holding a pentagram just begs for some funny edits.
Okay, that's just bullying. I don't think there's even a purpose to this spell besides pranking someone.
And that's what happens when you eat both at the same time.
Of course Akane would know all the prank spells.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!I can't believe that the series is halfway over! This has been a fun ride.
lolIn this world, don't you dare say "Yeah you can do X, if pigs fly". Of course, flying pigs seem to be a relic of the past.
Chinatsu, the Witch's Apprentice. And of course, the first spells a witch learn has to be prank spells!
Kei's interests sure are varied.
I wanna see Akane's movie!
You know what's really nice about this series so far? The natural way in which everybody interacts with each other, like real family. Kei watching a movie while his sister learns to draw pentagrams, with Akane leaning against the beanbag he's sitting on half watching the movie too, or the way Chinatsu shows her happiness and excitement just like a real kid would.
It's very relaxed, for sure. I guess it's because that Kei's family is in on the "family secret" (I'm kind of assuming that, since Kei mentioned that he and Makoto are second cousins, that means his mom and Makoto's mom are first cousins), but it's very refreshing how no one makes much of a fuss about it.
Granted, while this won't generate as much discussion as a much more controversial show, it definitely fits with the series.
True. I'm curious as to which of the sisters you guys prefer. Personally I like Makoto more myself but Akane isn't that bad either.
Makoto's endearingly kooky, but Akane is a very cool big sis. Travelling the world and then just dropping in randomly to fuck with people and sleep all the time is my ideal life.
This series is a great example of how to do a healing anime, imo. It's more grounded than some of these shows that get touted as iyashikei – FW very much has a "life with the rough edges sanded off" kind of feel, with a bit of Magical Realism thrown in.
Episode 7: Herb gathering and Ghost cafes
Chito is a girl?! I would have never guessed. Explains why she got angry at Nao saying she gotten fat.
Witches become hyper when in the woods. Hyper Witch Makoto has a nice ring to it.
Shouldn't Makoto already know how to pick herbs. She found Mandragora ten meter away from road in tall grass.
Nao - a portable Bear repellent.
Chinatsu does her best to try herbs like a big girl. But it seems it's too early for her yet.
A witch cafe? This ought to be fun.
So not even the locals know about the place. And unless you already know what to do, all you'll see is a run down place. That can't be a viable businesses model.
So Kei can't handle ghosts. I guess that's a better weakness than frogs.
Seems a big part of being a witch is being able to draw perfect circles by hand.
That's a cute ghost.
No, see a scary mask won't work when they already know you are actually cute. .
Chinatsu cuddling up with Nao might be one of the cutest things I've seen.
Having read the manga inbetween episodes, it's been interesting to see how the show adapts its jokes, which work better where. This time the frog joke worked better in the manga, but getting the ghost to show herself was improved a lot in the transition.
Nao learned an important thing about Chito; don't point out her extra pounds and don't imply she's old.
Nao is more effective than a bell, depending on the circumstances. See how that bear went "Fine, I won't come that way. Screw y'all."
Oooh, a secret cafe.
Cute ghost waitress. Kei probably thinks she's cute, but ghosts are not his type.
"Flying Witch" kind of reminds me of a hybrid between "Non Non Biyori" and some of the more down-to-Earth chapters of the "Oh/Ah My Goddess!" manga (in the mid-to-late-1990s before it jumped the shark with overlong plot arcs), particularly any chapter that focused more on Skuld, like the two-parter where a young boy helped Skuld learn how to ride a bike.
There's also a vocal connection to the "Ah My Goddess" anime in that Kikuko Inoue, the voice of Belldandy, is also the voice of Nana Kuramoto, the mother on "Flying Witch".
Also, Chinatsu remnds me a lot of Nanako from "Persona 4". I'm almost expecting her to sing the Junes/Jeunesse song.

So... this episode like...blew my mind so hard.
- One does not simply TFT, one does the whole fox
- We do find out what the fox says
Dropping in to say that I am loving this show so much, and I wasn't even the mood for slice-of-life this season. Just loving how grounded the characters are. Heck, Chinatsu acts like an actual kid! Crazy.
That cafe has some amazing guests.
I like how Makoto thought that Anzu and her mother are the same person.
We finally get to know what the fox says.
Akane just turned Vietnam monochrome on a whim. And teleported Makoto in the middle of the night just so she could take some pictures.
Wait, Vietnam is not that far from Japan. Why was is it day there, but middle of the night on Japan?
Oh well, it was a pleasant episode anyway.
Pheasants... I remember killing so many of them in Muramasa Rebirth. They were pretty hard to catch there, too, with a nasty divebomb attack.
I'm loving this series so far. Looks like Makoto should be more mindful of magical drug interactions, but Inukai's still cute in any form. I just hope no one tries to convince her to make money on the internet.
