Let's face it: I'm an designated shiter and the herald of decaying brain cells in World of Tanks. I'm the prophet of Khorne and the unskilled, yet gifted cancer that's killing League of Legends. As seen here.

And now I'm on the verge of being the next substandard player in Armored Warfare.

Out of these 3 games that I play I'll most likely be banned from League of Legends for "trolling" if my gameplay doesn't improve because of one report = account flagged = autoban after X reports. (To be fair, I haven;t been banned yet, so I'm just guessing here.) But still, I'm kind of curious as to how can someone become good at an game without months of experience? For instance, I've been playing Wo T for around 2 years; my WN 8 is still shit because of what I drive and how I upgrade them. In League of Legends, it's basically in swim-or-troll situation given how different each character is.

So now, I'm open to advice, aside from the typical "watch You Tube pros" remarks.

There's no real road to success here, just keep playing and practice.

Read up on strats, make sure you're a good communicator in games that require teamwork, and practice.

Not much too it, really.

Join me in a game. You are automatically better than me in any game, I'm the worst person by default anywhere and everywhere.

Practice also makes me worse at games. I gain anti-experience.

Online guides can, of course, be damn helpful. But people like to whine that you need to master a game before you even install it. Fuck that noise. I'll look at a guide to troubleshoot but I'm not dedicating my life to studying the words of L33tp33n teh Graetst as a requirement for even playing.

Just practice. I'm probably not the best help since I suck whenever I play shooters online.

@4: Feeding comes with the allenmark00 package; if I can't win an teamfight, then what else am I doing besides jungling?

@5: I actually thought that I was the worst guy on an given team. I generally dilike guides on account that you need to pander to the game's P 2 W economy for it to work and/or you need to take the least economically-efficient route for it to work. But the "Uninstall cuz yur bad" mentality can be funny at times...as long you don't take them seriously, of course.

Trip is the master shitposter humour, nothing new here.

It might just be sheer, blind dedication. Make sure you love the game you want to get good at, because most games with a healthy pro-scene are time investments. Reading up on strategies and nuances in design online, practicing in-game, and maybe even learning some hand warm-ups, if you really wanna get good.

Well ping definitely makes a difference in World of Tanks, and a HUGE one in Armored Warfare. I've had to get used to accepting that the enemy team will always get in the first shot if we ever simultaneously spot and begin aiming at each other, because apparently the latency time between what you're seeing on screen vs what the server is seeing is pretty damned different. At least aiming at moving targets in Wo T is easier for some odd reason vs in Armored Warfare. So you might want to look into seeing what you can do to minimize the effects of latency on your game if possible.

As for League of Legends, fuck that noise - I've stopped playing the game due to how annoying the online community can be. And that's saying something, because League players are far better behaved than the DOTA 2 community!

Here's what everyone has been telling you for the past 50 pages of the League thread: Learn the meta first, THEN you can figure out how to break it properly.

Enter an agreement with another player who should be your enemy, take turns throwing matches and or sabotaging your own team to give each other victories. This works best in free for all environments, where you can just gang up on an unsuspecting player then laugh at his rage as one of you suicides after you both do a victory dance on his corpse.

If you don't have friends willing to take losses for your benefit, find a successful guild if they exist and leech off of it until they catch on and or you drain them entirely. By either point you should have gotten good or gathered so much material you can slaughter beginning players through stats alone.

The best possibility, find a player whose been inactive for at least a few months and beat up on their player character. Then you don't even have to return loses for their benefit.

Well you see you smoke some weed, get a bag of dorities, some mountain dew, get several braindead friends, and the scream at everyone online with copious amounts of racial slurs and swearing.

All jokes aside just practice a lot for certain games like FP Ss. Just playing the game is good for getting better. I must warn you though that you will go threw a lot of pain if you want to become a good player. There is always someone out there that will be better then you or at very least match pretty well against you.

For games outside of that look at guides (you should do this with RPG games especially) and practice. The guides won't teach you everything but you'll be better off then someone who is learning from scratch

Be willing to learn, in terms of time investment and openness to improving. Vague but that's really it, because most of these games are popular and have all the resources you need already put up to start improving, in videos and guides. It took me two-ish years to stop sucking at League, and most of that was on me slowly ingraining the proper way to do things into my mind.

Additional advice (serious): If you planned to live from gaming, then you had to have some kind of crutch. Either stable (but boring) job (preferably somewhere in gov admin), big bank account, your spouse (if your spouse is kind/ stupid enough) (sorry if this offend you), or mom's account (again, really, really sorry if this offend you).

Either than that, practice, practice, practice, and beware of patch.

One thing is, be able to accept criticism. I don't mean people shouting at you how much you suck, but actual criticism. The way I got to be decent at World of Tanks was largely listening to people's advice and following it, and knowing what my weaknesses are.

For example: I'm terrible at making high-speed mouse movements with any kind of precision, and have a tendency to lose my cursor against the background when I do. Know what you're good at, know what you're bad at, and if someone that you think is better than you gives you advice (on how to play, not how to spend [unless you're not worrying about playing for free]), try and follow it; they usually got to be good by knowing what they were doing.

Should've checked the list.

I don't know about League or other MOBA-type games, but what I've found helps in FPS and flight games: get a friendly, knowledgeable group. I had the good fortune of positive experiences in Battlefield, World Of Tanks, and even EVE Online groups, and I got better at all of those games as a direct result. Teammates will watch your back, spot targets you miss, and most importantly provide constructive criticism and advice on your play. In games with a strong meta, they'll teach you it (and to echo the advice of other posters, you need to know the meta before you defy it.) In a Quicksand Box like Eve or Elite Dangerous, they'll give you something to focus on and work towards (wormholing in the former instance, or Powerplay BGS and undermining in the latter.)

Also, situational awareness is huge. Knowing what's going on in the map and how to navigate it puts you at a huge advantage over most inexperienced players, who tend to be in a constant state of "no idea what I'm wielding, no idea where I am, no idea what I'm doing, but I know I must kill." A frightening proportion of my Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and increasingly Hardline kills are tag thefts, and I attribute that entirely to identifying opportunities to flank and knowing the map well enough to get behind an enemy without getting shot by somebody else.

Other than that? Practice, a good internet connection, and an understanding of game mechanics.
