Needs Help: The Obi Wan

It's been about a week now with those two options still the only ones in the green. Is that enough for consensus?

I'm still bitter that "renaming Mentors to Mentor Index" is lumped in with "make Mentor Archetype the supertrope." I like the former, but not the latter.

I've submitted the request for a rename of Mentors to Mentor Index to the locked pages thread.

Since The Obi-Wan is being merged with Mentor Archetype, let's see what we can salvage from both descriptions. I've made a rewrite in the Mentor Archetype sandbox. Anything I missed?

The sandbox looks fine as a general mentor description.

Are we still YKTTW-ing the potential subtropes that came out of this.

I think the beats of Mentor Classic or Party Member Mentor are tropable.

I'll give it three more days for responses about the description rewrite to come in, then I'll swap it in on Mentor Archetype.

I'll sandbox the examples from The Obi-Wan later on to see what we can salvage from there as well.

^ Yes, that's one of the things decided by the crowner. If someone has an idea for one of the new mentor tropes, they can submit it to YKTTW.

Ok, I've swapped in the rewrite for Mentor Archetype and redirected The Obi-Wan to that page. I've set up The Obi Wan sandbox to sort out examples from the trope; I've started by removing the usual useless ZCEs. At first glance, the rest of the examples seem to be divided between The Mentor, Old Mentor, and Mentor Occupational Hazard.

An Obi-Wan Old Mentor would almost always be Old Master I believe. Although IMO it's description should not be so combat specific, Old Masters could be the master of anything.

Bump! Points of order:

• Continuing to work on the sandbox. After finishing that and moving example to Mentor Archetype, I'll begin with wick cleaning, which stands at almost 2K wicks at the moment. Courtesy link.
• Does anyone want to sponsor the proposed mentor tropes?

I've merged all the examples for Mentor Archetype. I'll send a holler to have this starred for wick cleanup.

The Obi-Wan is now down to under 800 wicks, removing most of the misuse and zero context. The Obi Wan redirect has been cutlisted after correcting all its wicks.

Now down to under 300.

Nearly done with the wicks. The remainder is mostly locked pages (primarily Five-Man Band subpages) and Pantheons.

Only ones that remain now are troper sandboxes for pantheons and an archive. We're just about done; adding a note to discussion page.

No one came forward to host any of the other Mentor trope ideas, but since YKTTW is always open, this does look finished.

Okay then, closing up.
