Opening suggestion: Borg-assimilated Earth from Star Trek: First Contact.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"

The suggestion was getting some consensus in the image suggestion thread, but not enough to take immediate action on, so I decided to re-open its thread so that thread could move on to new suggestions.

Here's the suggestion, cropped and at wiki size, with the caption I was thinking of. Thoughts on this, or other suggestions?

"The atmosphere contains high concentrations of methane, carbon monoxide, and fluorine. [...] Population approximately nine billion...all Borg."

Together with that caption, I think it works well enough pending other suggestions.

I'm not super-keen on it, but it works well enough with that caption.

I'll go with it in lieu of anything else.

Well, here goes anything else.

There's a seperate trope for Alien Kudzu.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"

Yeah, those are all Alien Kudzu, and that page already has a different crop of the first suggestion as its pic.

Well, then the only one I can really think of using is this.

Phyrexian contagion engines from Magic The Gathering.

[up] They certainly look hostile, but it's kinda hard to tell what they're doing.

Yeah, the "terraforming" part of the trope isn't at all clear.

Well, speaking of Magic, there are two entire sets out right now that involve cosmic horrors terraforming a world. Maybe something from there. (I'll suggest when I have more time.)

Star Trek > Magic.

That's my general opinion as well, so you'll have to pull out a humdinger to top 2. Won't rule that possibility out, though.

I'm not terribly keen on it, but 2 kind of works (which is why I've not said anything before now).

I think that's 9 in favor of the OP.

Right, I've added the image to the page, potholed it and added the caption. Though it took me two attempts to do it.
