Suggestion: Posse

Opening suggestion: The Regulators◊ from Young Guns.

I think this might be one that requires a caption or a really good shot of the posse being given their power to get the point across.

EDIT: Maybe an Inquisitor and his retinue◊?

I get more of a Bounty Hunter vibe from 2. I think the helpful detail in the Young Guns one is that they look like a bunch of young lads, most wearing visible badges, whom you wouldn't expect to be in such a position of authority. That said, you're right that the deputization may be inherently hard to infer for most pics without a caption.

I think I prefer the OP. isn't bad, but I find it a little unclear in comparison.

Yeah, the OP more clearly showcases the group of men in the posse. The image posted in Post #6 obscures some of the individuals, making its use of this trope more unclear by comparison.
