Library

"I moved the belongings you left in here to one of the tables. I'm trying to keep this place tidy; sorry about that" Miss Tairee said aloud, and pointed off to one of the tables in the room.

A certain octopode worked his way downstairs from where he'd gone during the escapades with Brother Marcus, and saw an opportunity to finally approach Miss Tairee. "Miss, I've been meaning to ask if I might get your assistance with something" Sir Redring said to her, then held up the gerbil in his tentacles. "I can move through the water of this day quite freely myself, but this little fellow would, obviously, drown" the octopode explained to her.

Miss Tairee looked at the gerbil, her eyebrows going up just a little. "I could make a simple waterproof container for him. You'll just have to be sure the air inside gets exchanged for fresh air now and then. Probably oh... Every five, maybe ten minutes" Miss Tairee answered him, then started typing on her computer.

"Thank you very much miss" Sir Redring muttered and gave a short bow of his head.

A wooden shanty, somewhere.

Sophie tilted her head at Garrett. "What group?" she asked plainly. "And who are they resurrecting?" Their whispers directed at each other seemed to be ignored for the moment.

Docking Structure Tunnels - A reception for Frosty

"I wasn't asking where they went. I meant how are you planning on getting them back to the surface and keeping two prisoners from making a run for it?"

Curly shrugged, trying to show at least that she wasn't terribly invested in pressing the point, before turning to see who could possibly be showing up now. It was Jack, and he was very frosty... If there was anything she'd learned from watching his movie, it was that probably meant he wasn't nearly as calm as he was trying to look. "Bit of a conflict of opinion, Jack. I'm sure we'll all have a laugh over it eventually"

With that said, she turned back to the militia men. And now Cole was freaking out, or something. Where did that come from? "Anyway, I get it, the kid attacked people in your care, that's practically the same as attacking you guys directly. And I don't know what you two have been going on about with this militia and demon stuff, but it looks like he knows he messed up, or he's a good actor. So why don't you just let the skeleton keep the kid out of your hair so you two can finish your escort mission as peacefully as those robots will let you."

Underwater Tunnels - Defusing an emotionally charged bomb

Things ended up escalating even more pretty quickly, with a stand off happening between Cole and the angry militia member, with the latter manhandling and trying to arrest the form. The other militia member, who seemed terrified before, was now backing up his partner more and both seemed ready to shoot if push came to shove.

Sans ans Curly attempted talk the situation down and Cole was having another breakdown. So it was time that she got involved to help preventing things from getting any worse.

Adressing both militia members, she said determinedly, "Look, I appreciate and respect most of what you're trying to do for this city. I too believe that we need a proper way to enforce justice around here. And you all did everyone a great service when you organized and defended things at the library two days ago. I would have no problem being under your authority. I'm part of a similar system back after all."

She paused a bit, looking thoughful as she then continued, "But the thing is back home, at some point, the people in Mid-Childa agreed upon it. And everyone other world under their umbrella also conceded to it. I know that we don't have much time, not nearly enough to set up a proper government. But there gotta be something that you can do to make your authority legitimate. Otherwise, there are going to inevitably be stand offs like this."

She took a worried look at Cole and began to carefully approach, trying to appear as non-threatning as possible. Meanwhile she spoke in a softer tone, "And well, in addition to what Sans said about how Cole's world is ruled, you gotta understand that not long ago, in this very city, he was taken against his will, kept captive and had terrible things done to him. You and I know that what you plan to do with him is not anything like that, but he doesn't. If you try to take him in manner, he's not going to tale it well. So please, for both your sakes, let him go."

Warehouse — Someone's not reading the recap page

The fact that Garrett told Rex that Sophie had eaten in a buffet made his theory of her being a robot less likely to be true. It's not like robots that needed to eat were outside the realm of possibilities, since a lot of the people he had met over the course of eleven days shouldn't exist in his world, but maybe she was just really unemotional. There were more important things to take care of, anyway.

"Huh, that is pretty weird"

Speaking of Sophie, she didn't know who the Ruckus were. It was natural since she had appeared on the city the day the demon had died and the group had disbanded (or at least lost a large number of members).

"Let me put you up to speed, then. There was this group of anarchists that formed a group, the Ruckus. At first they just pulled pranks but turns out their boss was a mind-controlling demon. He died, I'm not sure exactly how, and some people are trying to resurrect him by sacrificing people in his name or something along those lines. Cults never make sense"

The Boat

Before Ben could introduce himself to either Sylvia or Rick, Rick flicked a few switches on the dashboard; engines glowing green, the boat skipped off across the waves.

"Look, okay, *urp*," Rick shouted over the constant thwump-thwump of the boat skipping against the surf, "I'm sure that we're going to have some *urp* important expository dialogue in the back seat right now, okay, whatever, but you know what, I'm just going to tune it out." Rick downed some more alcohol as he spoke, the boat swerving erratically as he did so.

"RICK!"

"Morty *urp* I'm still cool to drive okay?" Rick stared dazedly at the small raft floating in front of them - manned by a group of what looked like a gang of giant snails - for a few seconds before cursing under his breath swerving wildly, sending Morty careening to one wall of the boat and kicking up a hail of empty bottles flying out of the boat and into the water.

"Jeez, Rick, h-haven't you ever driven a boat before, huh?" Morty looked as though he was considering trying to wrest the wheel out of Rick's hands. "You're gonna-you're gonna get us all killed, you know, or-or at least as killed as you can get in a-a place like this!"

"Look, j-just... just... I GURGHt th-*urp*-this." The boat sped around another tableau of maritime distress - a group of pale and helpless-looking mariners desperately trying to keep afloat while also committing cannibalism; Rick's wake flipped over their ramshackle raft and left them impotently cursing as the boat sped past this scene of Romanticist tragedy.

"See? Not a *urp* not a problem." Rick downed another shot as the tall wooden shape of the library appeared on the horizon.

"So, uh, w-who wants to get off here, and *urp* I mean, anybody wanna come with? Adventure, underwater, fighting... fighting robots and stuff, stealing the good shit, I mean it's a real *urp* it's a real dungeon-crawl experience, perfect f-for adventurous... do-gooder heroes."

Rick and Morty's boat

Before Ben could get an answer from Wander and Sylvia, the boat revved up into gear and Ben found himself holding on for dear life, lest he get tossed into the tempest. He was so caught up in the boat's sudden trajectory that he didn't even notice Marcus flying right over the boat. "Whooaaa!" Ben shouted. "Where'd you learn to drive this thing?!" he asked. His face turned slightly green as the boat careened through the sea. He was starting to get seasick. When they finally stopped, Ben managed to pull himself together somewhat.

"Look. I just wanna get to the balcony so I can meet up with my group. Though, it'd be nice to stop off at the Library to check out today's challenge," he admitted.

Underwater tunnels near the docking structure

Cole's hysterics only got the militia member to tighten his grip and press the gun forward, to be sure it was still aimed at cole's gut. Sans' attempt at diplomacy got both of the militia members to frown; the level headed one mildly, while the angry one, well, angrily. Curly's statement, being the first among them to finally admit that the militia did have a point, got them to mellow out a bit, as did Caro's statement of respecting them and what they did two days ago... The rest of Caro's comment, not so much. And when she started to approach, the level headed militia member got his hands back on his gun, though kept it pointed down.

"Little girl, I've heard about who you are and what you can do. That's close enough" the level headed militia member said calmly, but firmly. He then looked at the three of them together and took a breath, preparing to speak. "Let's get two things straight: One, we were only planning to shoot when it looked like somebody was about to get murdered; we've got our guns ready because we know what you two are capable of, and hell she's got a gun herself" he told them, motioning to Caro and Sans, then at Curly, "but this is only going to turn into a fight if one of you makes it a fight."

"Two, he committed a crime. You all saw him do it, so you know he's guilty just as much as we do. You just don't want him to get in trouble because he's your friend; well, too bad. If you want to come along and be his advocate to Wells that's fine, but he's coming with us, period" the level headed militia member continued, his tone still calm but with absolute conviction. "And as for you" he went on, and looked at Sans specifically with that slight frown again, "your argument is just wrong, and based on a fallacy. That people here are coming from different universes with different laws is one of the reasons for us to be keeping the peace, not a reason against it. On the first day here, a space marine was going around killing aliens just because they were aliens; by the laws of the Imperium back in his home, not only is he allowed to do that, he's supposed to do that. This isn't the time or place for political correctness, and we're not going to stop and see if every criminal has some reasons to be committing their crimes while people are dying out there. That is the basis for the authority we're acting on; besides, just about everyone else in the city who isn't committing crimes seems to be fine with us." The last bit of his statement seemed partially directed at Caro as well.

"And we've wasted enough time here arguing" the level headed militia member stated, and turned his head to glance at Frederick. "You! Start walking towards that docking area. Walking" he ordered the former Ruckus member, firmly repeating the intended pace just as Frederick looked like he was about to start running for the docks.

The angry militia member glanced over at the two civilians peeking their heads over the metal crate they were using as cover. "We're packing it up; follow that guy" the angry militia member told them with a motion of his head at Frederick, then turned his attention back to Cole as the two started moving. "Let's go, shithead" he told Cole, and started trying to force the spirit towards the docking structure while his level headed comrade kept watching the other group.

Library

"Here you are" Miss Tairee said as what looked like a heavy duty plastic hamster ball appeared on the desk with a blur. She looked at Sir Redring as he took it, then spoke up again. "Um, Redring, isn't it? Could I perhaps ask a favor of you in return?" the librarian asked him.

Sir Redring, a bit surprised, unscrewed the hamster ball's lid and deposited the small creature inside it. "But of course madam!" Sir Redring said jovially.

"You know about the radio channels?" Miss Tairee went on.

"I... Still find it a bit confusing, but that little book you gave me before has given me more or less the right idea. I think" Sir Redring responded, placing the lid back on top of the ball slightly off, so that it was not yet airtight.

"Well, there are a couple of men using a small radio station to play music on channel 94. I was wondering if you could track them down, and ask for me... If they would be up for broadcasting news instead" Miss Tairee told the octopode.

"News?" Sir Redring asked.

Miss Tairee nodded. "Yes, news. I could make more than enough small radios for everyone in the city to have one and listen in. If they could make broadcasts and announcements about dangers and other important things in the city, that would be a lot more informative for people than just listening in on the militia or the anti-humans and trying to piece it together from their chatter" Miss Tairee explained to him.

"Hm. It does seem like a nice idea. Very well madam, I shall endeavor to find these two men and forward your proposition to them" Sir Redring decided, and gave her another short bow, "but now, what am I looking for?"

Miss Tairee grimaced slightly. "I'm afraid it involves things you're not familiar with, so a description may not help you much. It's a small building, today somewhere down in the underwater mazes. It's just one room filled with machines and a small bathroom adjoined to it. The two men are both human, one pale skinned like me and the other dark skinned" Miss Tairee answered him.

Docking Structure Tunnel

Jack wasn't in the best state of mind currently, and with so many new things thrown at him, The spirit took a moment to catch up and wrap his head around it all. Then, Cole started to struggle against one of the men with the guns, and another put his hand on his own one when Caro took a step forward. Jack's eyes narrowed and he stepped quickly in front of the group, directly shielding the young girl, with his staff held loosely but ready, staring the men down. He had no clue what was going on really, but that had been a pretty obvious sign of intent. When he spoke, his voice had an edge to it. "A grown man with a gun, wary of a little girl. Interesting. Now I really want to know what is going on, and just who you guys are."

He glanced back at the others momentarily. "Do you know who they are?"

Docking Structure Tunnel - The predictable outcome

"Yeah, I was kind of using it before you showed up" Curly quipped as the militia man mentioned her weapon.

Regardless of whether she thought there was any point to punishing Cole further, they made their decision. The only way out of it she could see was more violence, and that would just needlessly endanger the other people trying to get to the surface. With a sigh she slipped the machine gun back into it;s pocket on her pants and stepped away from the door to the docking structure . Maybe one of the others would have better luck talking with that Wells character.

"Apparently that's the city militia, Jack. I didn't even know there was one. Though I didn't see anything trying to kill people until today either." She said before gesturing to Cole "He attacked one of their charges thinking he was trying to revive a demon, or something. I couldn't quite follow what he was going on about"

Cole all but shrieked when the man started trying to pull him along, and all the strength seemed to go out of his legs, leaving him staggering and almost falling, eyes abruptly flashing green, and for only a moment, it might have seemed as though there were cracks forming along his form, green light shining out from inside him, like something might burst through him as though "Cole" was nothing but a shell around it...

"NO!"

Just as quickly, this thing appearing vanished, leaving Cole gasping, still trembling and terrified, but his free hand abruptly hit himself, hard, in the temple, as though trying to either knock something loose, or back into place.

"No...no, no, no, I won't, I won't be that again, I won't, I won't I won't let you make me a monster..."

He looked over his shoulder, at Sans and the others, and though his voice quivered and it was clear that he was in no way well, he shook his head. "Don't...d-don't, don't, don't, Rhys, don't, don't help me, don't help me...don't let them take you too, don't, don't, if you care then let me know the Templars didn't take you too, please, don't do this, don't..."

"City militia?" Jack looked back at the men. So, they were just a bunch of random guys with guns who took in on themselves to make rules, then. It could be a good thing, but considering how they've acted so far, he wasn't quite up for trusting them. Especially since he'd heard about a lot of militias over the years and how they can be. And by the way one was jamming his gun against a pleading Cole's stomach, he wasn't feeling up to just letting it go. The. cole flickered green and started pleading louder.

Jack pointed his staff at the man holding Cole's arm. "I really suggest you let go of his arm right now and step back. He's a spirit, and from experience our powers get touchy when we're feeling emotional." The Winter Spirit strode forward. "You're trying to protect people, right? Then start by not making things worse."

Jack made his way towards Cole quickly. "Hey, hey Cole. Can you hear me? It's me, Jack Frost. Remember? You're going to be fine ok. No one is going to get anyone."

Underwater Tunnels - Running along with it

It seemed that none of their arguments had really worked and the militiamen were about to take Cole anyway. Added to this, Cole's power was acting up and he was having quite a breakdown. The mention of the friend he had told them about before only was even more cause of concern.

Jack also got there and ask who the militiamen were. After getting an answer from Curly, he then somewhat threatned the one holding Cole before going over to the other spirit in concern.

She didn't try to approach herself again, due to what the other miltiaman had commented earlier. That was another thing that they would have to set right before long, because there seemed to a lot of wrong and dangerous assumptions on both sides of this mounting conflict.

"Hey there, Jack. I wish we could meet sometime when things are not going serious wrong, but it's nice to see you again. Anyway, do you remember the men who were running things at the library two days, trying keep people safe during the sandstorm and those attacks? Well, these guys are part of that group. They're trying to keep the peace in this city by basically putting us under martial law," she said to the winter spirit.

Then turning to the rest of her assembled group she said, "Well, at this point I think the only way to have this end well at all is going along with them to make sure Cole is OK. Sans and I should definitely go, since he knows and trusts us best. You two were witnesses to this whole incident too, so you can come if you want, but it's not necessary, unless they say otherwise."

She paused, turning to the miltiamen, choosing her words carefully, lest she make things any worse, "It was not about keeping him out of trouble. I was more worried something like that happening, or worse. Look, we saw what happened and we kinda heading towards the same general direction anyway, so we might as well follow you, to make sure he's OK and make this all as smooth as possible."

She glance at Cole with a look of utter concern, and began ever so slowly approaching again. "Just let us make sure he's alright. That's my only intention. I'm not trying anything. You say that you heard about me. Well, I don't know what you heard, but it has to be seriously wrong to get you that scared. Look, back home, I'm an enforcer of the law too. I don't go about attacking innocents or people who obviously just trying to protect themselves, lest of all other officers. Besides, killing or serious hurting anyone goes seriously against all that both I and my people stand for. After you stop him, the only ones who are even considering scaling up to outright lethal force are you two. You're potentially make this more into a fight than we ever are. So please, just let me check on my friend. That's all I ask. Right now, Sans and I are probably the only ones that can get him to calm down."

Underwater Tunnels - what a mess

Nothing they said was getting through those two, at this point Sans was ready to bail out with Cole, consequences be damned. But despite all that Caro still tried to be polite and suggest that he and her followed them to their boss and sort things out there. She had a point in that they were all going to the same place anyway but still, Cole was very stressed out right now and he wasn't sure if they would be able to get him to calm down without taking him away from the militia.

Jack also seemed really intent on saving Cole from the militia so the possibility of a fight breaking out was high. At this point just didn't know what to do so he decided to do what he does in that situation: just follow someone else's lead and in this case, Caro's.

"honestly this is all such a waste of time, we could have gotten to the library right now but nope, we gotta go plead for someone to not get cole locked up because he didn't want the ruckus to cause trouble," said Sans, doing a dismissive gesture with his hand, "might as well go and get this mess sorted out before we waste any more time."

The Maze, This Probably Is Unrealistic But Definitely Stupid!
Plague Knight launched his payload high into the air, and before they detonated the computer was aware enough to say "Please refrain from doing that." The first two explosions tore a good chunk of the computer's hardware out of it, but the third one quickly blew open a hole in the hull of the underwater habitation unit. An incredible torrent of water rushed out, pouring over the hull of P.O.S. and quickly covering the floor. In fact, in the time that it took you to read this, the water was already getting past the hapless heroes and Plague Knight's ankles! It really was quite a lot of water.

P.O.S. didn't react well to being exploded upon, emitting such a loud screech that it was well past the pain threshold. "PLEASE REF-FR-FR-FR-FR-FR-FRAIN, AND CEASE BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY", it shouted. The power in the room flickered continuously as the computer writhed in pain, and ED-209 didn't seem to be taking this turn of events well either.

It constantly flickered between activation and being off, randomly firing and flailing about madly. In any case, Yoshika was able to push the machine off her, and it fell backwards into the water...not before firing a missile of its own, launching into the ceiling and creating another hole. The speed of the flooding increased dramatically!

All three doors opened up and water poured into them, all three seeming to lead down. Their destinations weren't obvious, but they were the only route out, as the door they had entered into was locked down still. P.O.S. screamed at the from above, saying "I'm afraid there is-is-is-ISN'T anything past those doors, so please stay here and wait to be crushed beneath the ocean! I'm asking you politely!"

Library - How Do I Telephone?

Thankfully, it turned out Zelda didn't need to search the entire library after all. Miss Tairee had moved the bag to another one of the tables.

She walked up to the table indicated and took a look inside the bag. It was a bit emptier than the last time she saw it; she guessed that others probably found it and helped themselves, most likely during the time so many crammed themselves into the library to protect themselves from those monsters. What food was left...well, it was in better shape than she expected, but still not something she'd want to eat at this point. The state of the food didn't matter to her, however. The important thing was the phone, and to her relief she found that it was still in there after all this time.

She took it out of the bag and looked it over. Her relief at finding it soon turned into the realization that she still didn't know how to use it. About the only thing she remembered from the day they found the bag was that it had a number associated with it. She could make some inferences as to how it might work from its similarities to the walkie-talkie, but the two were clearly different devices.

She could probably figure it out given enough time, and she certainly had a lot of time today. On the other hand, it was possible she could break it or otherwise make it unusable before she figured it out. Maybe it was best if she just asked someone who had a better idea of how it worked. Twilight did show some familiarity with it, but from what Zelda remembered that was only in relation to herself.

The easy option was simply asking Miss Tairee, and as much as she didn't want to bother the librarian again that also seemed like the best option. So she headed up to the desk again, waiting patiently for her to finish speaking to the...odd looking, but decidedly courteous person already there. By virtue of being there she also managed to catch a little of what they were talking about. It sounded like they were trying to get a news delivery system in place, which reminded Zelda of how Miss Tairee had seemed a little thoughtful earlier when the subject of news came up.

"I hate to bother you again, Miss Tairee," she said once the librarian was open, "But could you show me how to use this?" She held up her phone. "I never really got a good explanation from anyone else, and while it looks a little like the walkie-talkie, there's enough differences to throw me off."

Eve reacted with mild alarm at the boat's sudden speed. It was ...exhilarating, if nothing else. Then the boat came to a spot, and she quietly breathed out in relief. She then heard Ben ask about the challenge.

"Many things call the depths home, but there is one so fearsome that it became a thing of legend and myth to the outside world that knew so little about it. Can you defeat the mighty and terrifying defender of the greatest civilization? That's the challenge. The reward is a jail."

Underwater tunnels near the docking structure, to the docking structure

"I saw that vanishing trick he did before. I'm not letting go of him; he'll just poof and run away" the angry militia member said, still holding Cole's arm even as he had his little freak out.

The more level headed member glanced at his comrade for a moment. "Dude, they're cooperating now. It's time to tone it down" the level headed militia member said to him.

The angry militia member thought this over for a moment, rolling his eyes again and breathing out through his nose. "... Fine. But I'm still not letting go" the man muttered, lowering his gun away from from Cole's stomach and just keeping it pointed down at the floor now; which was the best he could do with one hand still holding Cole's arm and it being a submachinegun. He also loosened his grip a bit so at least he wasn't cutting off the circulation to Cole's hand.

With a sigh of slight relief, the level headed member looked back at Jack, frowning only slightly. "Look buddy, I can see where you're coming from, but facts are facts. Little girl or not, she's some kind of wizard, witch, mage, sorceress, take your pick; point is, she's got a size changing pet dragon and from what I hear, enough magic spells to blow this whole room to kingdom come if she wanted to- I'm just a guy with a gun. She's probably the most dangerous person in here, so of course I'm wary; if she decided to fight us, it would be a real ugly encounter, for us" the level headed militia member explained to Jack, referring to himself and his partner as 'us'.

"Now like I said, we're heading back to our headquarters to find Wells. Everyone who wants to come along is free to if they want. Except those two, they have to come along, being under arrest and all" the level headed member continued, and motioned to Cole and Frederick. "Now if we all just stay friendly and calm, it will all be fine from here on out. Wells is a reasonable man; I don't think he'll throw the entire book at your friend... Not that there is a book..." he continued to the group as a whole, then turned and headed off for the docking structure. He also freed up his left hand again to grab his walkie talkie and quickly ask for Wells' location; once Wells confirmed he was still at the structure holding the incomplete airship, the militia member then started to explain the situation, at least partially, to Wells, and added that they were on their way there.

The docking structure was a squareish room, with rounded corners, and various berths and airlocks that held a number of different sub-aquatic vehicles. "... I think that one could hold all of us" one of the two civilians said, pointing to the largest vehicle there; which more resembled a box with some propellers and fins attached to it than any conventional submarine.

"So who's coming with us?" the angry militia member asked, his tone still a little indignant as he tried to get Cole over to the hatch of the sub.

Library

"Alright, I shall do my best!" Sir Redring said enthusiastically, giving a sort of salute with two tentacles, then turning and heading out towards one of the doors. Miss Tairee then turned her attention to Zelda as she stepped forward and asked about the phone.

"Well, you are right. Both are meant for communication over long distance but that's about where it ends with their similarities. The walkie talkies allow a whole group to partake a conversation at once, where the phone is intended for one on one talks" Miss Tairee said, typing on her computer for a bit. With a blur, a similar instruction pamphlet as the one she had made for Sir Redring the previous day appeared on the desk in front of Zelda. "This should explain what you need to know; both the technical and practical aspects. But if you find any of it difficult to understand, just let me know and I will try to explain" the librarian told Zelda, her tone meant to be kind and helpful.

'Anarchist': one who resents outside control or influence on his or her life, in particular a government, and therefore desires the absence of political control. Fortunately (or unfortunately in the opinion of several of her guardians) Sophie had already learned of that term, used on Fodra for several incidents in its past. While it still confused her that said term somehow mutated into simply being 'an advocate of chaos', she still understood that, taken the wrong way, it meant that someone was more likely to do harm than good should they adhere to such a concept. In fact, her close friends Richard, Asbel and Hubert served as very real examples to her of people in power who are good and understanding authority figures.

As for 'demons', her only real exposure to that concept was in old tales passed down through word-of-mouth and on paper. Over the years in her world, nearly all of them turned out to be a new kind of lifeform that nobody had encountered before, so the concept of a 'demon' in the modern day was met with skepticism at best. Thanks to said tales, though, the term still carried with it an air of ominousness that she nevertheless understood - doubly so when combined with the idea of sacrificing people to it in an attempt to bring it back.

"I understand," the lilac-haired girl replied after Rex's explanation. "I can help...... but wouldn't it be better to have a contingent of other fighters with us? I don't think we'd do well with just the three of us..."

Viola I Library I Familiar Hobby

BEFORE

To say that the library's resources were huge was putting it lightly.

On the upper floors of the library, there were bookshelves as far as the eye can see.. Further exploration yields that each floor of the library corresponds to certain topics. The second floor, as as I can guess, seems perfectly mundane in its subjects, has simple guides, 'textbooks' and 'How to' books. The third floor, where the topics starts to be a bit more interesting, covers history, science, culture, so on and so forth. The fourth, novels and literature. On the fifth and last floor, the most intriguing one of all, touches on the subject of the mystical and magical, possibly throughout many different universes.

I could get used to this.

By now, a decently size stack of books had been placed on my table. Some, I handpicked to review the different terms and words I've come to learn within the City. Others, I choose to specifically pursue a given subject, currently focusing on recent history, modern technology and a bit of magical theory.

Many more still, however, I simply picked from covers that caught my eye.

NOW

"Miss Tairee, I wish to make a request," I politely asked the librarian after I'd made my way downstairs and head towards the counter, with a book in-hand about modern day devices. The books were overall a good read, yes, and I've gained valuable knowledge from them; knowledge that I may or may not be able to use once I got back to my world. As entertaining and as familiar as I was to be back reading to pass the time though, I realized that there was just something missing...

After I realized what it was, I couldn't help but to let Miss Tairee know of my request.

"Would it be possible for you to conjure a tea set, complete with appropriate furniture and even a cake or two? Preferably here or on the upper floors," After some pause and thinking, I decided to elaborate further. "I was thinking of organizing a tea party here while we pass the time reading. Just reading sounds dull to me. Plus...," I looked at those within the library, and spotted Zelda and Lune before returning my gaze to the librarian. "The same set would make a great addition to those who wish to peruse the library as well, don't you think?"

Underwater Tunnels - follow the police

"wow, caro, you must have quite a fanclub talking you up out there," joked Sans, looking at her teasingly

He then focused on the calmer militia guy, he seemed easier to deal with and less annoying so if nothing else the trip to meet up with their boss wouldn't be as awful as it could be.

"anyway, not sure what kind of exaggerated gossip you've been hearing around but most of caro's spells are for support. she's not dangerous and she's even part of a law enforcement team in her home world, so let's leave her out of this. if she ends up siccing a dragon on you, you probably deserved it," he told the guy.

After they got to where the submarines were, the one he was seeing was rather... unimpressive to say the least. It definitely wasn't giving him much confidence that they were gonna make it to the surface alive.

"that... doesn't look very safe." he commented

The Boat, Approaching the Library

"So... this is the library. Yeah. You got that? Good, because *urp* I'm not a tour guide or nothin' so don't get used to having me constantly hold your hand around here." Rick exposited, flicking the steering wheel every so often as he spoke. Morty stared awkwardly out at the horizon, occasionally glancing back at the unlikely gang of however many people happened to be riding in the back seat and clinging onto the slick metal hull for dear life.

"Th-the thing about this city is that it's built on an unstable nth-dimensional torus loop," Rick continued, taking a shot from its flask, "s-so things shift around all the time, there's never *urp* there's never-" Rick swerved violently around a little jury-rigged paddleboat "-things shift positions more frequently than a bar of ambulance-chasing lawyers."

"Rick..."

"... so yeah, that's th-that's the city. We got a bunch of crazy aliens and stuff, genocidal demons, some Revolutionary War re-enactor who thinks that he's in a position of authority, and..."

"...Rick!" Morty leaned over and tried to wrestle the steering wheel out of his grandfather's hands, leading to a brief wrestling match between the two as Morty desparately tried to steer the speeding boat around the looming shape of the library.

"Shit! Shitshitshitshitshit..." Rick flicked a few buttons and wildly spun the wheel, pushing off his grandson and trying to steer his craft away from the library. The attempt was... well... mostly successful, if you count the fact that nobody died as a result. The boat hit the edge of the library as Rick frantically cut the power, smashing through a window as metal met floor. When the dust and debris had settled, the rounded prow of the machine poked in over the carpet like the snout of some uninvited dog.

"Oh, oh great." Rick rolled his eyes as he hopped out of the boat and strolled into the library, sipping his flask and staring at the damage - most prominently the dents in the machine's glowing engines, which looked severe enough to . "You know Morty, I hUARGHd this all under control until you decided to..."

"Me? Rick, y-you were gonna kill us, you know that?!"" Morty clambered out of the speedboat and pointed at Rick. "I was the one tryin' to warn you about this stuff!"

"I couldn't steer w-w-with your meaty fingers all over my body, Morty, and- and guess what else, I dunno where your hands have been recently." The elderly scientist flicked a gadget as he strolled into the library, as though looking for something.

"You gotta share the blame here, okay?" shouted Morty. "I'm not the one who-who's drinkin' and drivin' all the time, there are kids in the boat, Rick, kids, and, and, you're setting a real bad example for 'em!"

"Oh, so I had a few, I'm still cool to drive, Morty. This isn't some *urp* after-school special here." shouted Rick over his shoulder as he pulled a screwdriver and a less identifiable gizmo from his pocket. "If you were my age,"- click - the screwdriver extended into a swiss army knife of tiny, specialized looking trinkets - "and if you were stuck in this place you'd be drinking at ten in the morning too."

Library

"All right. Thank you again, Miss Tairee," Zelda said with a bow of her head once the librarian finished her explanation.

Then she took the pamphlet and started to make her way back to her table. On her way back she caught a few words of Viola's request. It sure sounded like a food request, which Zelda doubted Miss Tairee would appreciate. On the other hand, she also seemed to be thinking of the others too, which probably counted for something.

Come to think of it, didn't Viola want to talk to her back during the wasteland day? Granted, she knew what it most likely was about. Even though she'd mostly recovered from that, she wasn't so sure she wanted to talk about it with someone she still didn't know all that well. On the other hand, she was in a better frame of mind and was working on building (or rebuilding) relationships. Maybe talking to Viola more wasn't such a bad idea.

She didn't get the chance to make a decision one way or the other when something large hit the library hard enough to break a window. She jumped, before turning to the cause and glancing at it worryingly. After a few moments passed without nothing more happening, she let out a small sigh of relief. Granted, she wasn't sure whoever was piloting the thing in the first place was friendly or not when that's the kind of entrance they made, but at least the vehicle itself wasn't going to be an issue.
