[up][up]I just really hope the movie doesn't ignore the effects of war fare too much to focus on Diana's drama. One thing I have liked about the DCEU is that it's not just the hero's feelings taking center stage but looking at the consequences of their actions as a whole and the perspective of the common man.

[up]Yeah, I dont want this to be "the movie is sad because Diana is sad" in which the world around is just a huge stage for her to mope about, it would be pretty cringe worthy in movie with WW 1 as background

[up]They made it sound like "World War I was a terrible terrible thing and it made Diana cynical about the world" as opposed to "Steve Rogers saw the Nazis as the bullying assholes they were and chose to fight against them to defend freedom." It's the war itself filtered through the individual and their worldview.

[up] That's still one of the best lines of the MCU — a line that perfectly encapsulates Steve Rogers' character.

Erskine: Do you want to kill Nazis?
Rogers: Is this a test?
Erskine: Yes.
Rogers: I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.

I hope the writing is just as good on Wonder Woman — she really needs something that defines her character. Her appearance in BVS was good, but it was more "mystery" rather than "character defining."

I also quite like Erskine's "Many people forget the first country the Nazis invaded was their own.". It'd be interesting if Wonder Woman explores that kind of concept regarding both sides of the war. Displaying the moral grayness of WWI in comparison to the First Avenger's display of the sheer overwhelming hatred of Nazi Germany.

First Avenger is one of my favorite superhero movies. Criminally underrated. I doubt Wonder Woman will hit my sweet spot in the same way, but I have hopes regardless.

No more than it makes you babble incoherently in fanatic religious praise for Zack Snyder before you kill yourself in his Sacred Name, Virtua.

Which, I'm guessing, doesn't happen. So that makes both of our comments entirely useless and unnecessarily standoffish.

Regarding the interviews: I am so glad she mentions Indiana Jones. First Avenger likewise takes inspiration from that movie. It's a great approach when it comes to "fantastical period films".

Some DCEU fanboys demand that Snyder—the ultimate dudebro director—be praised for Wonder Woman, despite it being directed by Patty Jenkins and not actually Snyder. Can't normal people be excused for finding that a little iffy? Christ.

And I actually like Snyder, despite not digging his two DCEU efforts! Which is something I feel that I need to say so I don't get dog-piled.

This isn't the Bv S thread. While obviously talking about the other DCEU efforts in relation to WW is par for the course, all this needless and unnecessarily hostile back and forth about Snyder is getting a little bit tiresome. Can we please try and keep that to a minimum? I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

If you actually pay attention they're responding to all the moron critics who feel the need to insult Zack Snyder while praising Wonder Woman. They don't want Zack Snyder to be praised for directing the movie. They just want those critics to stop hating on Zack and just praise Patty Jenkins for directing the movie.

Most of the critics posting on twitter seem to not be able to congratulate Patty Jenkins without hating on Snyder. Why don't they just leave him out of their comments if they don't want Fanboys defending Zack Snyder.

Edit*We should probably stop bringing this up.

Except some commentors do want Snyder praised for directing Wonder Woman — this very thread had someone speculate that Snyder directed the action scenes himself, since Patty Jenkins didn't have much experience directing action scenes.

Oh hey look, using the word "triggered" in an incorrect manner. Again.

I've tried explaining that to people before, too. They insisted on using Urban Dictionary as their source for "triggered" rather than it's actual definition.

Ok, seen I dont really give a damn about what you are discussing I want to adress something for a moment

"That's kind of the entire difference between the comic and the movie. The comic is subtle in its violence and in the way it shows Rorschach's descent into nihilism"

I dont seen how that can be call subtle, it seen more elaborate and borderline creepy but not subtle.

[up][up] You're right. Zack Snyder is not the ultimate dudebro director. Michael Bay is the ultimate dudebro director.

Seriously. Pretty much all of his stories are bullshit and Transformers relies on fights, explosions, sex appeal, dumb humor, and have no plot.

Can we not trash the first Transformers? I like the first Transformers film.

Anyway, I hope this lives up to the "lack of bad Twitter reactions" hype. That seems to be a good sign and I'd like to have a DC film I can proudly admit liking for once.
