I return! And I come bringing an crossover RPG!

Plot:

In 2014, an epidemic began to spring from an alternate universe: Helheim Forest. Residents from this forest declared war on the humans living on Earth and caused Helheim Forest to spread out to the world. Meanwhile, a space faring empire known only as The Armada invaded, picking off those weakened by Helheim’s grasp. Confronted on two ends, the eldest of the heroes, Hongo, Tsuyoshi, Retsu, Jiro, and Hayata, converged on a meeting and agreed on what they considered a nuclear option:

They would gather all the heroes they could from various parts of Japan and use a secret technique to restore powers and even memories to those who have lost them. They would also resort to having Ryotaro and Tsukasa travel about time and space picking up any warriors that were deceased or were otherwise evil. On the west coast, Tommy Oliver and Dexter Stewert gathered their own warriors. Though separate wars, they combined into what would be known as Great Legend War III.

After long, strenuous battles, The Armada had been quelled and Helheim became nothing more than scorched earth. Peace had restored back to Earth. Though, that was the idealistic version of what had happened. In truth, Helheim and the Armada ended up destroying a huge chunk of the Earth and killed thousands upon thousands of people. The wounds would take ten years before they could be licked, and an additional six before they can truly be mended.

However, these wounds have also festered. Word spread out to many of the countries recovering, ranging from knowledge about monsters hiding among humans to super powers that not even they were aware of. Demands for ways to defend themselves have echoed throughout the world, and opportunistic people rose up to give them what they needed.

On the western end was a project called the Neo Rangers, an organization devoted to distributing teams of five cybernetically engineered Power Rangers to multiple parts of the world. However, theories of the Neo Rangers being nothing more than a private military company have surfaced and with it, fear for them.

On the eastern end, people began to mass produce transformation trinkets and invent different forms of them, to the point where you could buy an action figure of an anime character on the streets of Akihabara and it becomes a Transformation Trinket. However, some people, including inventors of such trinkets, fear that they would be abused.

These two fears combined and became a sort of resistance group called the Allies of Justice. This group is devoted to fighting anyone who would abuse the trinkets and become villains with them, as well as keeping a close eye on the Neo Rangers. As if to confirm their fears, a group of people have taken such Trinkets and begun abusing them. They have addressed themselves as REVEN.

To make matters worse, a scientist stole a prototype Lockseed from famed scientist Ryoma Sengoku: The Yomotsuheguri Lockseed as well as crib notes from Foundation X regarding the Necro-Over project. With these, he brought back not only monsters from the dead, but also evil Tokusatsu heroes as well. With the situation dire than ever, this began four-way war known as the Hexagon Wars.

Will Earth survive this war?

Rules

  1. No arguments
  2. No sexual situations unless both parties are of age and is consensual (not my rule, but Tropes’)
  3. No Godmodding or power playing

Notes:

  1. We’re using the American definition of Tokusatsu, where it’s a genre in which, to quote the laconic: “Men in rubber suits beat each other up until somebody explodes.” So sadly, no Thomas The Tank Engine or The Xth Doctor.
  2. It doesn’t matter if it’s Japanese, American, or even a different country, all Toku heroes are acceptable.
  3. When it comes to giant stuff like Godzilla or Ultraman, I’m struggling to figure out if they’ll stay their giant size to encourage use of Mech-based Toku like Sentai or if they’ll go to a shrunken size to ensure it’s fair for everyone. Unless someone provides a good argument otherwise, I’m gonna go with the latter.
  4. Does this extend to Magical Girls (Cutie Honey The Live and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon) and Mecha (Pacific Rim and Patlabour)? Well, depends. If they have a Tokusatsu adaptation and is acknowledged as such on the Tokusatsu Wikia, I say go for it. If not? Well, we don’t wanna overcrowd the Tokusatsu RPG with guys like Gurren Lagann or Madoka Magica.
  5. Canon characters and OCs are allowed. The degree of OC however is that they have to have either a Canon power or Sailor Earth-style.

Obligatory Faction List

  • The Allies of Justice: Your good guy faction. Objective is to stop people from abusing the powers.
  • The Neo-Rangers: The neutral faction. They’re primary objective is to fight for the protection of others, but they have a secondary objective that’ll be revealed in the RPG. Also, contrary to the name and the modus operandi, the Neo-Rangers also accept solo heroes.
  • Yomi Army: The villain faction. Their goal is to, you guessed it, take over the world. Of course.
  • REVEN: The wildcard faction. Their goal is to just go nuts with their powers.
  • Others: Don’t like these factions? Make your own! With black jack! And hookers!

Sheet:

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Gender:
  • Appearance:
  • Power:
  • Faction: (Which faction are you a part of? It's perfectly okay to go factionless.)
  • Series of Origin:
  • Personality: (How does your character act?)
  • Backstory: (A story of how your character got to the current point in the RPG.)
  • Quote: (Just a flavorful little text to best sum up your character.)

Are canon villains allowed? I'm considering Phoenix from Kamen Rider Wizard since he technically never actually died.

I don't feel like there should really be villains of the week. Ya know? Having one guy that everyone fights. So, Kaiju should stay Kaiju. Not everyone needs to fight the same person, and Kaiju could actually be epic. Suppose that there's one kaiju to fight the mech, but there's another one for the non mech users to fight, that would be badass.

Good to be back

[up] Canon villains are allowed, though Phoenix might be OP.
Well, people rarely die in these games, so his respawn and associated powerup could be mostly Informed Ability. Except maybe the time when everybody gets Midseason Upgrade and he gets wrecked or stuff like that.

For drawing from his canon story, could excuse it with "escaping from the sun burned off his nearly entire power and delivered only a shred of him to Earth, from which he regenerated to the base power level"

I actually have a few different ideas for making Phoenix work that I want to run by you.

  • He managed to regenerate and eventually escape from the sun but his regeneration makes it so he's only more resistant to the thing that killed him. In this scenario he'd still have to work to overcome everyone else except for Kamen Rider Wizard and even then he'd be weak to anything stronger than All Dragon's default form.
  • Since this a clearly a different timeline/universe from canon we can change how he was defeated. I'm thinking something along the lines of him fighting Wizard until he (Phoenix) fell into a coma due to lack of mana and that he's only recently accumulated enough mana to wake up and by extension is too weak to be even be a threat to the base Styles.
  • He's a Phoenix from an alternate timeline that managed to cross over to this universe and isn't as strong as he was in canon.

If none of those work I'll probably go with a lower level villain.

This is gonna be fun! So, in terms of OC, say, if I wanted to make a Kabuto-Based Rider, all I'd have to do is pick an insect, so long as it's a ZECT?

Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?

[up][up] Second option sounds great, especially since some of the villains in recent shows will have completely different outcomes thanks to the Shared Universe thing.

Alright, OC Beat Rider it is, although also somewhat related to another series.

  • Name: Akira Wakahisa
    • Kamen Rider Bloom
  • Age: 30
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance:
    • Civilian: Akira is a fairly average looking adult, although he looks a fair bit younger than he is; reasonably tall with a fairly skinny build, as well as dark brown hair which he attempts to keep fashionably styled but which normally gets messed up in battle. He also has a lot of scars all over his body but most are quite old and faded somewhat now. He normally wears a Victorium pendant.
    • Kamen Rider Bloom: His ride wear is pure white, with no decoration and somewhat resembles the light clothing used for martial arts. His visor is very large, taking up almost all of the front of his helmet, and his face is normally visible through the visor's coloured tint. Alike the other Armoured Riders, he uses a Sengoku Driver, with a unique rider indicator. His visor colour and armour depends on which arms he uses.
      • Physalis: His main arms. The armour is large, yellow and is very smooth. The calyx husk moves down his back and forms four small wings. His visor turns yellow and leaf-like husks appear around the back of the helmet.
      • Lychee A smooth red-brown and white armour covers his torso while the red husk turns into spiky shoulder and back armour. His visor turns red-brown and small red spikes appear around the edge.
      • Kiwi: This armour part appears as so.
  • Power:
    • Mundane Fighting Skill: Akira is trained in martial arts, mainly capoeira.
    • Victorian: Akira's Victorian half gives him some limited abilities. He is able to produce a small shockwave which can be used in combat, although this works best when assisting a physical blow and can be tiring. He is also able to communicate telepathically with other Victorians by using their pendants and has a connection to the monster Shepardon (although it is extremely unlikely that Shepardon will ever turn up).
    • Kamen Rider Bloom: Akira possesses a Sengoku Driver and small collection of lockseeds which he uses to transform into a powered form he calls Kamen Rider Bloom. This enhances his physical capabilities and adds a layer of armour. The armour can be partially changed by using different lockseeds, each of which also summons a different weapon. Although he only owns a few lockseeds, he could use one owned by somebody else to take on a new set of Arms.
      • Physalis Arms: This form is capable of flight over short distances and is very agile in the air or on the ground. Its weapon is the Husk Blade, four small blades that resemble the husk of the fruit and can be held in his hands or attached to his feet to augment his fighting.
      • Lychee Arms: This form is better protected. Its weapon is the Rind Flail, a flail with a striking head resembling the fruit's rind.
      • Kiwi Arms: This form is fairly fast and can steal deal reasonable damage. It's weapon is the Kiwi Gekirin.
      • Rose Attacker: This lockseed transforms into his bike. Alike most Rider bikes it is capable of great speeds and combat situations. It can open a temporary crack into Helheim if it goes fast enough but that now just leads to wasteland.
  • Faction: Factionless, although he tries to keep a peaceful relationship with most others.
  • Series of Origin: OC, Kamen Rider Gaim, lesser extent Ultraman Ginga S.
  • Personality: Akira is normally both kind and passionate but the second can occasionally overide the first, as he can become too enthralled in what he likes doing to consider others. Nonetheless, he normally cares about people, from the small scale of feelings to the larger-scale greater good, and is willing to go to considerable lengths to help them. He normally goes for a diplomatic solution where possible but recognizes that it often isn't, especially where monsters are concerned, and is perfectly willing to fight. Although he's seen some of the horrors the world can present he still remains fairly innocent and is often in wonder when he encounters new things. He's very well traveled and tries to do his research, so he has excellent general knowledge and is particularly interested in, and considerate about, different cultures.
  • Backstory: Akira's mother was a diplomat, travelling around the world to keep peace and who was eventually let in on what was, at the time, a great secret; the existence of the Victorians, a secret group of humans existing underground. His father was among these people and although Akira's mother left before discovering her pregnancy and never informed his father of his existence, she was given a Victorium pendant as a sign of peace and passed this down to him when she told him of his heritage.
    • Akira often traveled around the world with his mother and became very interested in the different groups and cultures that inhabited it. Seeing so much of the world, and the efforts of those trying to improve it, gave him a deep desire to protect it.
    • Eventually Akira and his mother settled in Zawame City, a while before the Helheim incident. Already having some dance talent, he joined the Beat Rider scene and eventually managed to join Team Baron. When the Inves games started he wasn't particularly interested but when the monsters became problematic and he was given a Sengoku Driver he took on the responsibility of protecting the city along with the other riders.
    • Eventually the Armoured Riders of Zawame received a lot of backup, leading to the incident's sheer escalation. He fought through it and once the battle was over helped to rebuild. He knew that the world after this battle and the Armada was a harsher one but he still holds hope for the world and fights to protect it.
  • Quote: "Fruit armour!? ...Actually, I can work with this."

[up][up] Simple.

Approximately six months prior to the RPG, Global Freeze happened. It ended very differently, with the Kabuto Riders managing to quell and even overwhelm the Roidmudes, however the end result is that the Slowdown particles merged with the Tachyons of Clock Up and thus created a global dead zone. Translation: Clock Up and Slow Down no longer work.

[up] Accepted.

Or the Senshi of the Seven Sisters, but I think she wouldn't work since she's more rooted in the anime than the live action show.

Screw it, let's get spooky!

  • Name: Daichi Tokomi/Kamen Rider Go-Zen
  • Age: 23
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance:
    • Civilian Form: Daichi is not an intimidating young man. A little too lanky to be considered threatening, his hair is yellow, bordering on white, and his skin a touch pale, often joked as an Albino by passers by. His attire is very simple: A bright red hoodie and a pair of torn jeans, giving him a somewhat "punk" appeal to him.
    • Kamen Rider Go-Zen: His Kamen Rider Form, Go-Zen, accessed through Go-Zen Kivat, is a combination of Gun Metal Grey and Light Blue. Blue On the arms and legs, grey in the mask with dark blue visors. Go-Zen is worn upside down on his buckle, with fiery blue flames wrapping around him which solidify into chains around his waist. his gloves and boots portion are black.
      • Burren Arms: Accessed through the Burren Fuestle, this arms, based off the thought to be extinct Legendorga Race Gargoyle, this converts his chest area to a Bright Orange.
      • Garab Arms: Accessed through the Garab Fuestle, this arms, based off the severely endangered Gigant Race, and turns his chest area dark brown.
      • Zorek Arms: Accessed through the Zorek Arms, this arms, based off The Ghost Race, long since destroyed, turns his chest area shock white.

  • Power:
    • Basic Agility: While Daichi isn't a fighter in this form, he is very fast, and very agile.
    • Kamen Rider Go-Zen: Enhanced fighting prowess and access to Fuestles, allowing for form changes and different finishers.
      • Burren Arms: Increases his fighting prowess and allows access to the double sided, Gargoyle Inspired Burren Axe.
      • Garab Arms: Increases his defensive stats and gives access to the large, body sized Garab Guarder shield.
      • Zorek Arms: Increases his speed exponentially and allows access to the shock white, ghostly inspired Zorek Bow.
  • Faction: While not wanting to be part of a faction,he finds himself siding with The Allies of Justice, more often than not.
  • Series of Origin: OC, Kamen Rider Kiva
  • Personality: Unlike Wateru, who people based on his outward appearance he was a freak, Daichi is...almost the same outside and in. He's very much a quiet loner who only wishes to keep to himself and tries to avoid drama at all costs, wanting nothing more than alone time and peace. As quiet as he is, he is very astute and observational, and likes to add insight if it gets him out of jams faster. Though, he is by no means a coward.
  • Backstory: When Daichi was walking home from the library, that fateful autumn day, he didn't expect his entire life to change so drastically. The moon had just gone down and thw wind began to blow when he saw the first Fangire of his career, shrieking and attacking what appeared to be a small animal. Against his better wishes, he knew he couldn't let some innocent animal suffer a lonely fate at the hands of...whatever the hell that thing was. So, rounding up whatever resolve he could, Daichi rushed over, grabbed the small creature...and ran like hell.
    • Arriving home, he was surprised when the creature, a sky blue and gun metal grey bat like creature, expressed its thanks. As Daichi bandaged up its wing, it explained what the creature was, who HE was, and why he was in mortal danger: Apparently, Go-Zen had been charged as a traitor of his race by this "King" person by hiding three innocent races, thought to be destroyed by the purge, and stored their souls in the Fuestles stored on his back. He then gave Daichi an ultimatum: Help save them..or have his life force drained. Daichi quickly chose the former.
    • So his career as Kamen Rider Go-Zen began, fending off the attacks of the Fangires with Go-Zen's help. Imagine his surprise when a strange, armored Rider with a Bar code face approached and told him that he was needed elsewhere. Sensing the Races would be safe, Go-Zen ordered him to go.
  • Quote: "Let's wrap this up. It's getting too loud around here."

Since this is an alternate universe/timeline exactly how does that effect when certain series take place? For instance the Helheim invasion takes place in 2015 while in canon it takes place from late 2013 to mid/late 2014 and the events of Drive start in 2030 here but in canon take place from mid/late 2014 to mid/late 2015.

  • Name: Phoenix
  • Age: Technically eighteen though he looks to be in his early to mid twenties.
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: As a human and his true form.
  • Power: Due to his immortality Phoenix has the ability to come back stronger from death. In addition to this he has power over flames as well as the ability to fly. However due to events of his past all of these are greatly diminished. It takes longer for him to come back than he is used to, his control over flames does not extend as far a it used to nor can he control as much fire as he could in the past, and he cannot fly as fast as he could before.
  • Faction: Phoenix is an independent player who works alone.
  • Series of Origin: Kamen Rider Wizard
  • Personality: Phoenix is brash, violent, and quick to anger. Small things upset him easily, making it easy for him to become riled up. When angry he tends to go on a rampage, abusing his powers to the best of his ability as well as picking fights with others. Despite his violent attitude he is a very easy person to manipulate and although he doesn't like listening to authority he is not above dong so.
  • Backstory: Phoenix was spawned as a result of the human whose body he inhibits falling into despair due to the forced Sabbath nearly twenty years ago. Shortly thereafter he was recruited by a mysterious practitioner of magic calling himself Wiseman. Due to Phoenix's harsh actions and the death of a Gate he was forced to act as an observer in charge of making sure other Phantoms did as they were told as well as issuing orders to said Phantoms. During his time as an observer a trouble maker known as the Ring Bearing Wizard showed up to cause trouble for the group. Phoenix fought him many times with the final battle between the two resulting in the depletion of Phoenix's mana and his fall into a coma. It is only recently that he has recovered enough mana to awaken from his slumber. In the week or two that he's been awake he has hidden in the shadows, slowly working to gain more mana and adjust to the new world he found himself in.
