Well, we have Coruscant on Skyscraper City already (and is more of a City Planet anyway, so let's avoid overlap). Here's some shots of Mega City One from Judge Dredd: 1 2, 3. 4. Map. I like 4 myself for showing just how overcrowded it is and not just skyscrapers.

I also like 1.4, the people give it a sense of scale.

Another [tup] for 1.4.

I'll go for 1.4 as well, for the same reason. The people give a good sense of scale.

1.4 has my vote.

As long as 1.4 looks good at wiki size, it has my vote.

Tried a few different sizes for 1.4. Here's a size reduction to 300x420 that seems like a decent compromise.

As an alternative, perhaps something from Shadowrun? [1][2][3][4]

[up]The first one seems to have a copyright bug on it and the others don't really seem to say MEGA city to me, just a city.

Catalyst Game Labs is the publisher for the Shadowrun Tabletop game; and the image is official art by them that is freely available to download from their website.

9.3 is pretty cool, but 8, I think, is a little better.

Maybe I'm missing the forest for the trees here, but 8 seems a bit squished to me.

Problem is, it'd likely be ludicrously tall at 350px...

8 gives me a distracting Used Future vibe.

^ I'm not sure how that affects anything. As the trope is written, a Mega City could look either super-neat and organized or run-down and decayed. 8 is somewhere in between, but cleanliness has nothing to do with the trope; it's about the insane size of the city.

Not really from any particular piece of work but I think this fits:

That has the same issue as 9. It looks futuristic, but that's not the focus of the trope. It should be a city that looks like it has a population running into the hundreds of millions. All but possibly 1.3 from the OP demonstrate that more clearly.

I think we have some decent options at this point. Crowner?
