Any of these could work. There's no way to pick just one, so I say crowner and image links.

1.1 and 1.4 look good. I'm not nearly as much of a fan of the other ones.

My votes right now are 1.1, 1.4, or 1.5; the rest are good for Image Links.

Maybe can be done a collage?

Sure, but any suggestions from different media? A collage of the suggestions so far would have an enormous preponderance of anime.

And a few that are interpreting "sports" pretty loosely:

Others?

Regardless, the other images do get the job across better.

I dunno... I feel a lot of the suggestions thus far simply show a female athlete, without any particular expression of the "passionate" aspect of the trope, or any of the wider connotations around the trope.

Granted, if simply being a female athlete counts as this trope, that's fine. Just thought I'd raise this issue.

No, the 'passionate' is there for a reason. I remember the YKTTW. The word was added because they wanted to make it clear that this is a girl enthusiastic about male orientated athletics. I don't see any sports in the Game of Thrones image.

I was aiming for images that looked sporty, and wearing karate pads or a soccer uniform or whatever seemed like a good way to say that. Is there a better way?

ps: the GoT sport is swordplay, but like I said maybe that's a stretch :)

[up] You might even say it's a lunge. tongue

Anyway. While not the highest quality images (owing to the film's age), I think these images from Bend It Like Beckham might make for a good candidate of showing the passion part of the trope, by either showing the girl playing with the guys or by having a group of girls bonding over sports: [1][2][3]

Maybe a collage of four image, one for genre?

"anime, film, comic, western animation" or "2 anime (most examples in the trope page are from anime), 1 film and 1 western animation".

[up] I don't think that is strictly necessary and I don't see any obvious benefit of making it a collage.

I like 13.3 because they obviously must be good at whatever sport that is, which strongly suggests being passionate about it.

I think a collage of characters that represent this trope for different sports and story mediums is the best way to go.

I like 1.1 and 1.4 the most so far. 13.3 is nice, but I would really like to see the sport itself have some immediately apparent representation in the frame.

These two may literally be more bark than bite, but they are no less tenacious than everyone else.

I think the fact that they're wearing uniforms is immediately apparent representation of the sport. It's a team sport of some kind. Do you want to see a ball? Why does it matter?

IMO one of the best images in this thread, of Korra (8.4), doesn't specify what sport she's playing either. Given her attire and the setting, it's clearly a sports competition of some kind. I don't think the specifics are important.

That specific doesn't really matter. Is pool a sport? Maybe. Could a Passionate Sports Girl character be into pool? Sure. It is more about being a tomboy, being interested in "boy stuff". Arya Stark, for instance, is totally an example.

ps: Korra is wearing a padded helmet and is in a stadium, that is clearly an organized sport of some kind. It may involve fighting.

[up]x8 Actually in media the most passionate players are typically the losers, The Underdog always has far more passion and fight harder than those in first place.
