Today I created an account and started editing here after just reading the wiki for quite a while. The first (and only, so far) page I created was for the Manifest series by Italian creator Riccardo Desini. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi, superheroes, good art, great story, and extremely curvy action girls.

The protagonist is Tessa Theus, a superheroine known as Thunder Girl. At the beginning of the series, Tessa has been kept in stasis by the main villain, Saturn, for an undetermined but clearly significant period of time. The Spectral Wayfarer, her friend and mentor, rescues her at the beginning and brings her back into the titular world of Manifest so she can become a superheroine again and fight Saturn. The series follows her attempts to regain her memory and all of her apparently formidable powers.

One of the things I love about Manifest is that it isn't just pretty art. The story is compelling, the characters well-developed, and Desini takes his time with the storytelling. There are many panels of just conversation and interaction between characters. And despite Desini being an ESL speaker, his English is quite good and the few idiomatic and grammatical errors don't detract from the story at all.

Another thing I love is that although Tessa definitely has Gag Boobs, she's drawn with a realistic body type for her bustline. Wide hips, thicker waist, big legs, etc. She look like a real, albeit unusually curvy, woman. Always a nice thing. And Desini draws women of all shapes and sizes throughout the book, unlike a lot of comic artists.

It's available on Drive-Thru Comics for pretty cheap, and if you keep up with Desini's deviantArt or tumblr, he often offers discounts on the PDFs. Search onesheeparmy at those two websites, since I apparently can't post outgoing links yet. Right now you can get the first issue for seventy cents and the second for ninety-nine. I don't want to sound like a shill for him, but I just think it's a really great comic and would love for him to get more exposure!

Fair content warning: the book features nudity and foul language.
