The jingle that plays right when you start up the game is taken straight from Order of Ecclesia. I guess IGA wanted to pick up and continue right where he left off.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Huh, really? Neat.
Since that game did a lot to mix Classic games with exploration, this seems like a good compromise.
I am loving that blood lady and want her to perform Singing in the Rain using her hemokenesis.
i. hear. a. sound.BLOOD ART TECHNIQUE
I like how painful taking the Shards sound.
Pretty creative boss.
That's some Iga level design, right there. That bell is so Iga.
I cannot guess clearly on the grunts of Miriam about who voices her, but it sounds like Ami Koshimizu.
Huh... the cutscene graphics look a bit dated to me, but the in-game graphics appeal to me. I suppose, if you're only going to get one part right, that's the part to get right.
Based on that boss fight shown, it looks like fights are going to be more strategic than the classic "hit them in the head" gameplay too often used in Castlevania. I'm excited.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. The estimate is 2018, right? I bet there'll be some spit-shining done between now and then. I hope. For graphic consistency at least. I hope. I mean as long as it plays well I'm gonna probably love it, but I wouldn't say no to it being as pretty as it can be.
i. hear. a. sound. The heroine, Miriam, is an orphan and a survivor of the ritual. She awoke from a 10-year coma and has gone after the demons. She has been scarred by an alchemist’s demonic curse, which is slowly turning her skin to crystal. She must travel to the castle to hunt and kill its summoner, Gebel, battling his demons as she searches for a way to stop the curse.
I hope it doesn't feel like too much of a retread of Symphony, as good as it is. Taking the mechanical polish from the GBA and DS games into account, bosses that have more strategy like Eclesia, and some new gimmicks and level design here and there.
Strategy? I mean, CV's always been about learning boss patterns and gitting gud. I can't think of many bosses that were bad. Most are pretty neat, with you figuring out that sweet spot to avoid That One Attack.
I expect the game to be a spiritual remake of Sot N, myself.
10 minutes of the E3 demo.
By strategy I mean I hope it doesn't feel like the way Symphony bosses play, where you get strong enough to fight them wack them a bunch until they die without too many patterns to dodge. Of course given what this is a successor for, it probably will.
I really dig the live soundtrack.
If it's too easy I'll just handicap myself in some way.
They are running the demo at NYCC and for the most part...I like it. It flows well, the controls feel smooth, and it plays well. I don’t know about stopping every five seconds to do the power up animation, but it doesn’t have anything like Mighty No 9 that’s groan worthy.
New footage!
Is she moving faster now or am I imagining things.
Also yeah, the boss (his name is Zangetsu) at the end is set to be a recurring character, a demon-hunting samurai á la Julius.
Well that looks a lot better than the last time they put out a video. I don't know what it was, but I didn't really care for the graphics then, but now it looks way batter. Oh, and I just noticed that when she equips the hat in the menu her model actually starts wearing it.

I still think some animations beed work, maybe some effects as well. Hitting and/or killing enemies doesn't look like it's gonna be satisfying as you play.
It's also revealed now that Erica Lindbeck is the English voice of Miriam. Also there's a cast change: David Hayter is now Zangetsu, Gebel is taken by Ray Chase.
... Honestly, I think Zangetsu's more rugged appearance fit Hayter more than Gebel's bishonen appearance.
MY SON RAY CHASE IS IN THE GAME
Ray is the new Troy Baker.
Mileena MadnessRay Chase, Erica Linebeck, Ben Diskin, David Hayter... that is one solid voice cast. This might not be the type of game I usually play, but as a voice acting fan, that cast alone makes me interested.
Robbie Belgrade, aka Alucard from Symphony Of The Night, is also involved. Kari Walhgren too, here's the whole list, with some cute pictures of the cast in action included.
edit: we also have live footage of said cast.

The 8-bit prequel game is coming in two weeks!
You can choose to play it in complete classic Castlevania style if you want, horrendously inconvenient knockback and everything.
So Mirinoa shipping? I can dig it. Though that could also be read as Maria/Shanoa, which wasn't the intent.
