Hello there !

I'm posting there because i'm about to begin a fanfiction and I want to check about one of the bad guys, who's a large pink dolphin who floats in midair.

Yeah, really.

There is an explanation for why there's such a thing in the first place floating but should I try to write him as something of a vaguely menacing villain, albeit with a huge complex about his form and a giant Narm factor (that could be Narm Charm if he's liked enough) or should I treat the character as a Butt-Monkey who gets constantly ridiculed because of the ridiculous design ?

Or give him a One-Winged Angel to make up for it ?

What is the tone you're going for? Is it a black comedy and/or a satire? Does it take itself seriously? Or is it a light-hearted comedy/humor fic?

The concept sounds funny in itself, so it'll be hard to pull off a serious tone.

It's up to you to give them a super-powered form or not, as I think it can work in a comedy and a more serious piece.

Also don't rely on Narm Charm as if the audience will like your character from the get-go. They'll like it if he's well written and/or entertaining.

Life is hard, that's why no one survives.

Thank you !

It's based around satire and, sometimes, black humor, with over-the-top characters and stuff. I could try to make him a Large Ham and just has his pink dolphin physic being glossed over and assumed to be just a part of the bizarre world.

That said, there are more serious parts, so I could keep him for the funnier parts and have a Knight of Cerebus take his place during the bleaker parts.

Narm is an unintended audience reaction. What you're looking for is probably Bathos.

Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a chore
